Nowadays, waste tire rubber (WTR) management is a growing and serious problem. Therefore, research works focused on the development of cost-effective and environmentally-friendly methods of WTR recycling are fully justified. Incorporation of WTR into polymer matrices and composite materials attracts much attention, because this approach allows sustainable development of industrially applicable waste tires recycling technologies. Generally, utilization of WTR as a filler for polymer composites noticeably reduces materials costs, while suitable modification/functionalization of WTR may significantly enhance the performance of plastics and rubbers. This work aims to summarize the literature reports related to the thermoset/WTR composites based on various matrices such as polyurethanes, epoxy and other resins. It particularly focuses on compatibilization strategies in thermosets/WTR systems and their impact on the chemistry and physical interfacial interactions between thermoset matrix and WTR filler phase, what significantly affecting performance properties of prepared materials. Moreover, future trends and limitation related to thermoset/WTR composites development are discussed. Gestation and lactation are very sensitive and vulnerable stages for human growth and development. During these two periods, short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs) can be transported to neonates via transplacental and breastfeeding transfers, and eventually posing potential adverse effects to neonates. Up to date, no simultaneous investigation of prenatal and postnatal exposure of CPs is reported. To bridge this knowledge gap, we have analyzed SCCPs and MCCPs in 20 complete sets of maternal serum, umbilical cord serum, placenta, and breast milk. The levels of both ∑SCCP and ∑MCCP followed the order of maternal serum > breast milk > cord serum > placenta. The breastfeeding transfer ratios (RBM, ≈ 1.0) of CPs were greater than the corresponding transplacental transfer ratios (RCM, 100 times higher than the gestation exposure amounts. This study helps to better understand the prenatal and postnatal exposure of CPs and provides a solid basis for accurate human health risk assessment of CPs. Recently, the world has experienced a wave of violent protest, and in particular Islamist and right-wing extremism have become increasing challenges for many societies. We argue that especially the experience of relative deprivation, that is the perception that oneself or one's group is undeservingly worse off than others, can explain various, contemporary forms of violent extremism, including (a) low-power groups' violent attempts to challenge the unequal status quo, (b) high-power groups' violent defense of their privileged position, and sometimes even (c) people's violent attempt to help out-groups in need. In light of recent research and growing social inequalities, we expect relative deprivation to be a key factor driving violent extremism across cultures and contexts in the 21st century. BACKGROUND Evidence on how weight loss correlates to health-related quality-of-life (HRQOL) among obese breast cancer (BC) patients is limited. We aimed to evaluate associations between weight changes and HRQOL. METHODS We included 993 obese women with stage I-II-III BC from CANTO, a multicenter, prospective cohort collecting longitudinal, objectively-assessed anthropometric measures and HRQOL data (NCT01993498). Associations between weight changes (±5% between diagnosis and post-treatment [shortly after completion of surgery, adjuvant chemo- or radiation-therapy]) and patient-reported HRQOL (EORTC QLQ-C30/B23) were comprehensively evaluated. Changes in HRQOL and odds of severely impaired HRQOL were assessed using multivariable generalized estimating equations and logistic regression, respectively. RESULTS 14.1% women gained weight, 67.3% remained stable and 18.6% lost weight. PURPOSE To evaluate 3D-printed anatomic models of the distal femur and patella for diagnosis and classification of patellofemoral dysplasia in comparison to conventional radiographs (CR) and CT. METHOD Following local ethics committee approval, CT-datasets of 50 patients were segmented and 3D-anatomic models of the distal femur and patella were printed. An expert panel reviewed CR, CT, 3D-models and patient history and classified the femoral trochleas into normal or Dejour type A-D and the patellas into Wiberg type A-C, which served as the standard of reference. The same classifications were performed by two readers independently, first based on 3D-models and after 3 weeks based on CR and CT. Descriptive statistics, ROC-analysis and inter-reader reliability were performed. RESULTS Trochlear dysplasia was present in 28/50 patients. Evaluations of 3D-models vs. CR/CT for trochlear dysplasia showed a sensitivity/specificity of 89.3 %/100 % vs. 96.4 %/68.2 % for reader 1 and 96.4 %/100 % vs. 96.4 %/90.9 % for reader 2, and an area under the curve of 0.946 vs. 0.823 for reader 1 (p = 0.029) and 0.982 vs. 0.937 for reader 2 (p = 0.147). Evaluations of 3D-models vs. CR/CT for the Dejour classification showed a sensitivity/specificity of 32.1 %/100 % vs. 57.1 %/68.2 % for reader 1 and 46.4 %/100 % vs. 50 %/90.9 % for reader 2 without significant differences. No significant differences existed for Wiberg-classification (50-66 % exact matches) or inter-reader reliabilities between 3D-models and CR/CT for all assessments (Kappa 0.428-0.92). CONCLUSION In comparison to radiographs and CT, 3D-models achieve similar diagnostic accuracy for detection of patellofemoral dysplasia and have the potential to improve diagnosis for less experienced physicians. In view of the advantages of sensitivity and high spatial resolution, CT imaging has played an important role in screening and diagnosing of COVID-19 in China. The radiologic technologists performing CT scans for the infected patients become high-risk medical care personnel. It is critical for the radiology department to ensure the personal safety of radiologic technologists and avoid cross-infection. In this review article, we describe the systematic strategies to combat COVID-19 from the radiology department in Tongji hospital in Wuhan, P.R. China, including personnel arrangements, environmental modification, protection levels and configurations, radiological imaging (CT and radiography), and disinfection methods.
