ot been reported on Verbena spp. in Korea. Powdery mildew has been reported on V. bonariensis in California, but identity of the causal agent had not been reported. To our knowledge, this is the first report on the identity of the powdery mildew caused by G. ambrosiae on V. bonariensis in Korea. Since heavily infected plants lost ornamental value, appropriate control measures should be developed.Camellia oleifera, an evergreen small tree or shrub with high medicinal and ecological values, is mainly distributed in subtropical regions of China. Camellia oil obtained from Camellia oleifera seeds is rich in unsaturated fatty acids and unique flavors, and has become a rising high-quality edible vegetable oil in south of China (Zhuang 2008). The tea-oil tree Camellia oleifera plays important economic and ecological roles in Hunan province. During collecting trips, seeds of C. oleifera with disease symptoms have been observed in almost all oil-tea forests. In lab, the seeds can be infected by wounds and directly, however, wound infection is more rapid. In oil-tea forests, the wound of seed is often caused by external factors such as mechanical and insects. Symptomatic seeds exhibited brown rot symptoms with irregular, black spots, brown necrosis of the kernels, and accounted for 65% of the surveyed seeds (Fig. 1). Rotted seeds were surface-sterilized for 1 min in 75% ethanol, 3 min in 1% sodium hypochlorite humidity at 25°C in a greenhouse for 3 weeks and monitored daily for lesion development. Twenty days after inoculation, all the seeds inoculated presented similar typical symptoms observed under natural conditions, whereas the control seeds showed no symptoms. Koch's postulates were fulfilled by reisolating the same fungus and verifying its colony and morphological characters as Neopestalotiopsis protearum. To our knowledge, this is the first report of Neopestalotiopsis protearum causing oil-tea seed rot in China.Wilt is one of the destructive fungal diseases of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) affecting sugarcane production in many sugarcane growing regions including Bangladesh. In July 2018, sugarcane plants showing wilting symptom including withered, dried leaves and shriveling stalks with brown to pinkish discoloration in internal tissues (Viswanathan, 2013) were collected from sugarcane field from Gazipur district (23°54'41″ N, 90°23'20″ E) of Bangladesh. Average disease incidence was 17% in 60 ha of sugarcane fields that were sampled for diseased plants with visible symptoms. Ten infected stalks (30cm) were collected from five severely infected fields. The stalks were surface sterilized with 70% ethanol for 1 minute followed by 0.2% sodium hypochlorite for 3 minutes and then rinsed three times with distilled water. Small pieces (2mm×2mm) of the inner discolored tissue were cut with a strile scalpel and placed on half strength Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium followed by incubation for 7 days at 25 °C. A totwere inoculated with deionized distilled water. All canes were cuts longitudinally to evaluate the disease symptoms at fifteen and thirty days after inoculation. Inoculated stalks exhibited tissue discoloration that were similar to those observed in infected sugarcane field, whereas the control remained unaffected (Appendix 1). Pathogens were re-isolated from the artificially inoculated cane and characterized morphologically. Sugarcane is the second important cash crop and the only source of white sugar in Bangladesh (Rahman et al. 2016). Our report for the first time confirmed that F. sacchari is the causal pathogen of sugarcane wilt in Bangladesh. In June and July 2020, powdery mildew-like signs and symptoms were seen on leaves of D. chinensis cultivated on the campus of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Hohhot city, Inner Mongolia Province, China. White powder-like masses occurred in irregular shaped lesions on both leaf surfaces and covered up to 50% of leaf area. Some infected leaves were deformed on their edges and some leaf senescence occurred. More than 40 % of plants (n = 180) exhibited these signs and symptoms. Conidiophores (n = 50) of the suspect fungus were unbranched and measured 70 to 140 µm long × 6 to 10 µm wide and had foot cells that were 25 to 48 µm long. Conidia (n = 50) were produced singly, elliptical to cylindrical shaped, 30 to 45 µm long × 12 to 19 µm wide, with length/width ratio oowth chambers maintained at 19 ℃, 65 % humidity, with a 16 h/8 h light/dark period. Nine-days post-inoculation, powdery mildew disease signs appeared on inoculated plants, whereas control plants remained asymptomatic. The same results were obtained for two repeated pathogenicity experiments. The powdery mildew fungus was identified and confirmed as E. buhrii based on morphological and molecular analysis. An Oidium sp. causing powdery mildew on D. chinensis previously was reported in Xinjiang Province, China (Zheng and Yu 1987). This, to the best of our knowledge, is the first report of powdery mildew caused by E. buhrii on D. chinensis in China (Farr and Rossman 2020). The sudden occurrence of this destructive powdery mildew disease on D. chinensis may adversely affect the health, ornamental value and medicinal uses of the plant in China. Identifying the cause of the disease will support efforts for its future control and management.Forests of Jordan are located in the northern and southern parts of the country with 60% and 40%, respectively. Natural forests constitute about 75% in the northern part and 25% in the southern part. There are many types of forest trees in Jordan including pines (Pinus spp.), juniper (Juniperus), cypress (Cupressus), oak (Querus), acacia (Acacia), and Christ's thorn jujube (Ziziphus). There are three species of Pinus P. halopensis (native), P. pinea (introduced), and P. canariensis (introduced) (Ministry of Agriculture, 2013). P. pinea is considered one of the most important components of Jordan's natural forests. Due to its adaptability, lack of environmental requirements and ease of cultivation, its cultivation has been expanded in all parts of Jordan. P. pinea cultivation prevent soil erosion and combating desertification. P. pinea seeds are used in making sweets and many popular foods. In the end of 2019, wilting and damping-off symptoms were noticed in 50 % of P. pinea seedlings nurseries (personal communication, November 2019).
