Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic progressive fibrotic pulmonary disease with rising incidence. In this study the effectiveness of pirfenidone, as measured by longitudinal change in individual slope of forced vital capacity (FVC) prior to and after initiating pirfenidone treatment, was evaluated in IPF patients recruited into the European registry for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (eurIPFreg). Secondary variables were the evaluation of the change in individual slope of diffusion capacity of the lungs for carbon monoxide (DLco), the Borg dyspnea scale, and six-minute walking distance (6MWD), as well as survival analyses.
Data of 122 eurIPFreg patients, who had at least two pulmonary function tests (PFTs) prior to or under treatment with pirfenidone, were analyzed by calculating slope-changes. The global analysis revealed an average slope change of +1.48 ± 0.28 (% per annum (p.a)) after start of treatment (
< 0.001), reflecting a reduction in annual FVC decline of approx. 50% under pirfeogy (GAP) score and age prior to therapy.As the autonomous driving technology develops, research on related sensors is also being actively conducted. One system that is widely used today uses a light source with a wavelength in the 905 nm band for the pulse Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) system. This has the disadvantages of being harmful to the human eye and in making digital signal processing difficult at high sampling rates. The Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) LiDAR system has been proposed as an alternative. However, the FMCW LiDAR is formed with a high beat frequency by a method different from that of the FMCW Radar, which causes a hardware burden on the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) module for interpreting the beat frequency information. In this paper, the FFT module that may occur in the FMCW LiDAR using Digital Down Convert (DDC) technology is extracted at 256 points, which is 25 times smaller than the existing 8192 points, and the beat frequency is 0 to 50 m at 3 cm intervals. As a result of generating and restoring the distance, the performance of 0.03 m Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) compared to the conventional one was confirmed. In this process, the hardware module was directly mounted and verified on the FPGA. In the case of the Simple Threshold-Constant False Alarm Rate (ST-CFAR) provided, the RMSE was measured by generating beat frequencies from 0 to 50 m at 1 cm intervals, and as a result, the result of 0.019 m was confirmed at 0.03 m in the past.Cocoa bean shell (CBS), a by-product with considerable concentrations of bioactive compounds and proven biofunctional potential, has been demonstrated to be a suitable ingredient for high-fiber functional biscuits adapted to diabetic consumers. In this work, the in vitro bioaccessibility and intestinal absorption of polyphenols and methylxanthines contained in these biscuits were evaluated, and the effect of the food matrix was studied. Biscuits containing CBS and the CBS alone underwent in vitro digestion followed by an intestinal permeability study. The results confirmed that compounds were less bioavailable in the presence of a food matrix, although the digestion contributed to their release from this matrix, increasing the concentrations available at the intestinal level and making them capable of promoting antioxidant and antidiabetic activities. After digestion, CBS biscuits were shown to possess α-glucosidase inhibition capacity comparable to that of acarbose. Moreover, the presence of the food matrix improved the stability of polyphenols throughout the digestion process. Intestinal absorption of flavan-3-ols seemed to be limited to a maximum threshold and was therefore independent of the sample, while procyanidin was not absorbed. Methylxanthine absorption was high and was boosted by the presence of the food matrix. The results confirmed the biofunctional potential of CBS-based biscuits.The development of renewable energy is an important cooperation theme among countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI countries). Through map description, we first explore the changes in renewable energy consumption in BRI countries. Our research reaches the following conclusions (1) β-convergence exists in renewable energy consumption among BRI countries, indicating that it will converge to a relatively stable level, and countries with low renewable energy consumption will increase their renewable energy consumption with a higher convergence rate to chase the countries with high renewable energy consumption. (2) Energy structure effect makes a positive impact on renewable energy consumption, and is the main contributor to renewable energy consumption. (3) The energy intensity effect makes a negative contribution to renewable energy consumption, and the negative impact has deepened in recent years. (4) Both the low-carbon economic effect and the carbon emission effect have positive impacts on renewable energy consumption. Our research not only provides a description of the experience of developing renewable energy for BRI countries, but also makes reference to other organizations.Gyrocardiography (GCG) is a non-invasive technique of analyzing cardiac vibrations by a MEMS (microelectromechanical system) gyroscope placed on a chest wall. Although its history is short in comparison with seismocardiography (SCG) and electrocardiography (ECG), GCG becomes a technique which may provide additional insight into the mechanical aspects of the cardiac cycle. In this review, we describe the summary of the history, definition, measurements, waveform description and applications of gyrocardiography. The review was conducted on about 55 works analyzed between November 2016 and September 2020. The aim of this literature review was to summarize the current state of knowledge in gyrocardiography, especially the definition, waveform description, the physiological and physical sources of the signal and its applications. Based on the analyzed works, we present the definition of GCG as a technique for registration and analysis of rotational component of local cardiac vibrations, waveform annotation, several applications of the gyrocardiography, including, heart rate estimation, heart rate variability analysis, hemodynamics analysis, and classification of various cardiac diseases.
