Psychosocial functioning varied significantly between the four classes with higher psychosocial functioning problems associated with high severity and sexual abuse.
The study revealed a high child abuse prevalence in Lithuania. The results show that the psychosocial functioning of adolescents is associated with severity and types of abuse experiences.

Placement stability while in foster care has important implications for children's permanency and well-being. Though a majority of youth have adequate placement stability while in foster care, a substantial minority experience multiple moves during their time in care. Research on correlates of placement instability has demonstrated a relationship between externalizing behaviors and placement instability. Likewise, evidence suggests higher levels of trauma are associated with increased externalizing behaviors. However, few studies have examined the relationship between trauma symptoms and placement instability.
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether children with clinically significant trauma symptoms had higher odds of placement instability.
Administrative data collected as a part of a summative evaluation for a federally-funded trauma III grant project were used. The sample included 1,668 children ages 5 and older who entered foster care during a 30-month period in a Midwestern state and outh in foster care.
Young adults with a history of child maltreatment (CM) are often vulnerable to alcohol-related problems. Drinking motives have been widely studied to explain alcohol-related problems in young adulthood.
The aims of the current study were to examine the link between CM and alcohol-related problems and to test whether CM is indirectly related to alcohol-related problems via different types of drinking motives.
Two hundred eight participants were recruited in a mid-Atlantic urban area (M age = 19.7, 78.4 % female) via advertisements placed throughout the community.
Participants completed self-report measures of CM (Childhood Trauma Questionnaire), types of drinking motives (the Drinking Motives Questionnaire Revised Short Form), and alcohol-related problems (Rutgers Alcohol Problem Index). Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test whether CM was associated with alcohol use, both directly and indirectly, through drinking motives.
We found that both coping (β = 0.53,p < 0.001) and enhancement drinking motives (β = 0.15, p = 0.031) were associated with alcohol-related problems. Additionally, CM was related to alcohol-related problems indirectly via coping motive (β = 0.11, p = 0.028).
Young adults with a history of CM may use alcohol to cope with trauma-related negative emotionality. Targeting emotional distress in CM-exposed individuals may be helpful in preventing and treating alcohol-related problems in this vulnerable population.

We investigated the differential effectiveness of a stepped and collaborative care model (SCM) vs. treatment as usual (TAU) for primary care patients with various depression severity degrees and explored whether subgroups received distinct evidence-based treatments.
Subgroup analyses of a RCT were calculated applying a multiple linear mixed model with the factors 1. group (SCM; TAU), 2. severity ((mild-moderate (MMD); severe depression (SD)) and their interaction, with PHQ-9 as primary outcome. Utilization of treatments was analyzed descriptively.
For the 737 participating patients (SCM n=569; TAU n=168), availability of data substantially varies between subgroups at 12-month follow-up ranging between 37% and 70%. ITT-analysis (Last-observation-carried-forward) revealed a significant interaction for group x severity [p=0.036] and a significant difference between groups in symptom reduction for MMD (-3.9; [95% CI -5.1 to -2.6, p < 0.001; d=0.64] but not for SD (-1.6; [95% CI -3.4 to 0.2, p=0.093; d=0.27]. Sensitivity analyses (multiple imputation, completer analysis, pattern mixture model) didn`t confirm the interaction effect and showed significant effects for both severity groups with slightly higher effect sizes for MMD. Differences between SCM and TAU in the percentage of patients utilizing depression-specific treatments are larger for MMD.
There was a high proportion of missing values among severely depressed patients, especially in SCM.
SCM is effective for both MMD and SD. Utilization patterns might help explain the higher effects for MMD. Various strategies of replacement of missing values lead to slightly divergent results due to selective drop out between severity groups.

The objective of this study was to explore the potential mechanism by which oxalate affects the reduction of high concentrations of Cr(VI) treated by sodium borohydride (NaBH4) and the subsequent precipitation of Cr(III). The results show that Cr(VI) reduction could be gradually promoted by oxalate (1.0-10 mM). Compared with the control solution, the reduction of Cr(VI) in a 10 mM oxalate solution could be increased from 56.6% to 99.1%. Genipin in vitro Particularly, the promotion of Cr(VI) reduction attributed to the enhancement of OH- production from NaBH4 hydrolysis due to the increasing concentration of C2O42- species, forming conjugated acid-base pairs in the form HC2O4--C2O42-, which provided an effective buffer. In 0.10-0.40 mM oxalate-Cr(VI)-NaBH4 systems, the resulting Cr(III) could precipitate at different levels within 20 h, and showed settlement rates in the range of 8.
