Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a chronic condition that results in high healthcare utilization and lifetime cost across the care continuum. In the absence of a standardized model of care delivery for SCI in western countries such as Canada, a scoping review of the literature was performed to identify and summarize existing international SCI models of care delivery. Four databases were searched using key words and subject headings for concepts such as "spinal cord injury," "delivery of healthcare," "model of care," "patient care planning," and "care pathway." Title, abstract, and full text review were competed by two independent reviewers. A combined total of 46 peer-reviewed and gray literature articles were included. No single SCI model of care has been adopted across different countries internationally. However, optimal attributes of models of care were identified, including the importance of having multidisciplinary SCI specialty care providers along the continuum, provision of rural SCI services and outreach, integration of primary care, peer mentoring, and using a hub and spokes model of care. These findings inform the future development of an SCI model of care, which ideally would serve all geographical locations and span the continuum of care, improving the health status and quality of life of persons with SCI.The meninges are membranous tissues that are pivotal in maintaining homeostasis of the central nervous system. Despite the importance of the cranial meninges in nervous system physiology and in head injury mechanics, our knowledge of the tissues' mechanical behavior and structural composition is limited. This systematic review analyzes the existing literature on the mechanical properties of the meningeal tissues. Publications were identified from a search of Scopus, Academic Search Complete, and Web of Science and screened for eligibility according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. TH1760 The review details the wide range of testing techniques employed to date and the significant variability in the observed experimental findings. Our findings identify many gaps in the current literature that can serve as a guide for future work for meningeal mechanics investigators. The review identifies no peer-reviewed mechanical data on the falx and tentorium tissues, both of which have been identified as key structures in influencing brain injury mechanics. A dearth of mechanical data for the pia-arachnoid complex also was identified (no experimental mechanics studies on the human pia-arachnoid complex were identified), which is desirable for biofidelic modeling of human head injuries. Finally, this review provides recommendations on how experiments can be conducted to allow for standardization of test methodologies, enabling simplified comparisons and conclusions on meningeal mechanics.
The aim of this study to determine the expression of MMP-28 in bladder urothelial carcinoma and to analyze the correlation between MMP-28 and the clinicopathological characteristics of human bladder carcinoma, and its relationship with patient prognosis.
A total of 491 surgically resected bladder cancer samples and 80 normal tissue adjacent to the tumor were stained by immunohistochemistry. The expression of MMP-28 in these samples was quantitated, and the value of MMP-28 as a marker of bladder cancer and prognosis was assessed.
The expression of MMP-28 in urinary bladder carcinoma was higher than in normal bladder mucosa. The high level of MMP-28 was significantly correlated with tumor histology grade, lymphatic metastasis, lymph node infiltration, and distant metastasis (P < 0.05). The upregulation of MMP-28 was also closely related to the risk of cancer progression and the survival of patients. Further analysis documented that high expression of MMP-28 was associated with decreased overall survival in bladder cancer patients.
The abnormal expression of MMP-28 may be related to the initiation and development of urothelial carcinoma. The upregulation of MMP-28 can be used as one of the effective indicators to diagnose bladder cancer and predict tumor progression.

Cardiac biomarkers, like NT-proBNP (N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide) and high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T, might have predictive value. Methods and Results Echocardiography, ECG, hemodynamic parameters, NT-proBNP and high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T were assessed in 853 patients with early-stage breast cancer randomized in the German Breast Group GeparOcto-GBG 84 phase III trial. Patients received neo-adjuvant dose-dense, dose-intensified epirubicin, paclitaxel, and cyclophosphamide (iddEPC group, n=424) or paclitaxel, non-pegylated doxorubicin, and in triple negative breast cancer, (paclitaxel, non-pegylated doxorubicin, carboplatin group, n=429) treatment for 18 weeks. Patients positive for human epidermal growth receptor 2 (n=354, 41.5%) received monoclonal antibodies on top of allocated therapy; 119 (12.9%) of all patients showed a cardiotoxic reaction during therapy (15 [1.8%] using a more strict definition). Presence of cardiotoxic reactions was irrespective of treatment allocation (P=0.31). Small but significant increases in NT-proBNP developed early in patients with a cardiotoxic reaction as compared with those without in whom NT-proBNP rose only towards the end of therapy (P=0.04). High-sensitivity cardiac troponin T rose early in both groups. Logistic regression showed that NT-proBNP (odds ratio [OR], 1.03; 95% CI, 1.008-1.055; P=0.01) and hemoglobin (OR, 1.31; 95% CI, 1.05-1.63; P=0.02) measured at 6 weeks after treatment initiation were significantly associated with cardiotoxic reactions. Conclusions NT-proBNP and hemoglobin are significantly associated with cardiotoxic reactions in patients with early-stage breast cancer undergoing dose-dense and dose-intensified chemotherapy, but high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T is not.
