Cytidine chemical structure This study aimed to examine the impacts of social isolation on physical activity (PA) levels and mood states of children and adolescents and to explore the correlation between them during the COVID-19 epidemic. A total of 9979 children and adolescents (11.63 ± 1.23 years old) from Yan'an, China volunteered to participate in this study and completed online questionnaires. PA and mood states were measured by International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF) and Profile of Mood States (POMS), respectively. The results showed that the mean of students' moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA) was 23.19 min per day. The total mood disturbance in the moderate and high-level PA groups were significantly lower than those in the low-level PA group (p less then 0.05). Additionally, boys and girls had significant differences in PA levels (p less then 0.01), and the PA levels of students in different grades were also significantly different (p less then 0.01). Meanwhile, boys' mood states were worse than girls'. The Grade 4 in primary schools had the worst mood states while Grade 5 had the best mood states. The results suggested that the MVPA of students has dropped badly, compared with the results of previous studies investigated in normal times. In addition, the PA level had a significantly positive impact on the mood states of children and adolescents during the COVID-19 epidemic. Sex and grades were factors which affected the PA levels and mood states. This study can help policymakers and healthcare professionals understand PA and mood states of Chinese children and adolescents during the epidemic. We should pay attention to the changes in PA levels and mood states of children and adolescents.Different amino acids (AAs) may exert distinct effects on postprandial glucose and insulin concentrations. A quantitative comparison of the effects of AAs on glucose and insulin kinetics in humans is currently lacking. PubMed was queried to identify intervention studies reporting glucose and insulin concentrations after acute ingestion and/or intravenous infusion of AAs in healthy adults and those living with obesity and/or type 2 diabetes (T2DM). The systematic literature search identified 55 studies that examined the effects of l-leucine, l-isoleucine, l-alanine, l-glutamine, l-arginine, l-lysine, glycine, l-proline, l-phenylalanine, l-glutamate, branched-chain AAs (i.e., l-leucine, l-isoleucine, and l-valine), and multiple individual l-AAs on glucose and insulin concentrations. Oral ingestion of most individual AAs induced an insulin response, but did not alter glucose concentrations in healthy participants. Specific AAs (i.e., leucine and isoleucine) co-ingested with glucose exerted a synergistic effect on the postprandial insulin response and attenuated the glucose response compared to glucose intake alone in healthy participants. Oral AA ingestion as well as intravenous AA infusion was able to stimulate an insulin response and decrease glucose concentrations in T2DM and obese individuals. Previous monocular range estimation methods mostly involve two sequential steps of object detection and range estimation. As a result, they are only effective for objects from specific categories relying on expensive object-level annotation for training, but not for unseen categories. In this paper, we present an end-to-end deep learning architecture to solve the above problems. Specifically, we represent the target range as a weighted sum of a set of potential distances. These potential distances are generated by inverse perspective projection based on intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters, while a deep neural network predicts the corresponding weights of these distances. The whole architecture is optimized towards the range estimation task directly in an end-to-end manner with only the target range as supervision. As object category is not restricted in the training stage, the proposed method can generalize to objects with unseen categories. Furthermore, camera parameters are explicitly considered in the proposed method, making it able to generalize to images taken with different cameras and novel views. Additionally, the proposed method is not a pure black box, but provides partial interpretability by visualizing the produced weights to see which part of the image dominates the final result. We conduct experiments to verify the above properties of the proposed method on synthetic and real-world collected data.
