The proposed model showed better prediction of PTaI with minimum Mean Square Error (MSE) between the measured and predicted PTa Intervals (PTaIs). The factor that led to PTaI instability in AT patients was found to be different from that of the NSR group. The frequency of PA (fPA) was found to contribute more in the AT than the NSR group. The developed ARMAX model was better in predicting instability of atrial ECG dynamics in both groups than other autoregressive models currently in use.Phonocardiography is a dynamic non-invasive and relatively low-cost technique used to monitor the state of the mechanical activity of the heart. The recordings generated by such a technique is called phonocardiogram (PCG) signals. When shown visually, PCG signals can provide more insights of heart sounds for medical doctors. Thus, several approaches have been proposed to analyse these sounds through PCG recordings. However, due to the complexity and the high nonlinear nature of these recordings, a computer-assisted technique based on higher-order statistics HOS is shown to be, among these techniques, an important tool in PCG signal processing. The third-order spectra technique is one of these techniques; known as bispectrum, it can provide significant information to support physicians with an accurate and objective interpretation of heart condition. This technique is implemented and discussed in this paper. The implemented technique is used for the analysis of heart severity on nine different PCG recordings. These are normal, innocent murmur, coarctation of the aorta, ejection click, atrial gallop, opening snap, aortic stenosis, drum rumble, and aortic regurgitation. A unique bispectrum representation is generated for each type of heart sounds signal. Then, based on the bispectrum analysis, fifteen higher-order spectra HOS features such as the bispectral amplitude, the entropies, the moments, and the weighted center are extracted from each PCG record. The obtained HOS-features showed a well-correlated evolution with the increasing importance of heart severity leading therefore to a high potential in discriminating pathological PCG signals. One should know that, generally, classification of pathological PCG signals refers to the distinction between the presence of a pathology from its absence (binary response) while the discrimination considered in this paper provides an analogue response (value) which can vary from one pathology to another in an increasing or decreasing way.Long-term follow-up data of left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusion in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) are sparse. To address these data gaps, we analysed the 4-year outcomes of AF patients following LAA occlusion. The was a retrospective cohort study of high-risk patients with AF who underwent successful implantation of the Amulet device at our center between 2014 and 2017. Study endpoints were the rate of stroke, major bleeding and all-cause mortality. We included 71 patients (35.2% females) with a median age of 78 (IQR 73-82) years. Over a median follow-up period of 46 (IQR 19-56) months, the annual rate of ischemic stroke was 1.06 events/100 patient-years (95% CI 0-2.35), hemorrhagic stroke was 1.06 events/100 patient-years (95% CI 0-2.35) and major extracranial bleeding that required unplanned hospital admission was 1.84 events/100 patient-years (95% CI 0.25-3.43). A total of 28 (39.4%) patients died during this period with an annual mortality rate of 10.29 events/100 patient-years (95% CI 7.25-13.32). Our experience suggests that LAA occlusion using the Amulet device appears to be associated with a low risk of ischemic stroke in high-risk AF patients who are deemed unsuitable for oral anticoagulation; however, these patients have a high rate of mortality over the medium to long-term follow-up, and an ongoing significant risk of bleeding and thrombotic events.Flavonoids are members of polyphenolic compounds, which are naturally presented in fruits, vegetables, and some medicinal plants. Traditionally, the root of Scutellaria baicalensis is widely used as Chinese herbal medicine and contains several major bioactive compounds such as Wogonin, Scutellarein, Baicalein, and Baicalin. Experimental and clinical evidence has been proving that Wogonin exhibits diverse biological activities such as anti-cancer, anti-inflammation, and treatment of bacterial and viral infections. In this review, we summarize and emphasize the benefits of Wogonin as a therapeutic adjuvant for anti-viral infection, anti-inflammation, neuroprotection as well as anxiolytic and anticonvulsant. Moreover, the molecular mechanism(s) how Wogonin mediates the cellular signal pathways and immune responses are also discussed and highlighted valuable properties of Wogonin in multiple therapies. Most satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc.) cultivars are difficult to identify in the seedling stage based only on morphological traits. ε-poly-L-lysine datasheet Therefore, simple polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers were developed to specifically and rapidly distinguish the 'Haryejosaeng' cultivar, which is generally supplied to breeders of other satsuma mandarin cultivars. SNP markers were verified using high-resolution melt (HRM)-specific primers. PCR was performed to distinguish 'Haryejosaeng' from eight other satsuma mandarin cultivars using six SNP markers (P1-P6) specific for 'Haryejosaeng', with one negative control SNP primer pair. The best results were obtained using three SNP markers (P1, P2, and P5). In the multiplex PCR, markers P1, P2, and P5 yielded 165-, 150-, and 526-base pair amplicons, respectively, in 'Haryejosaeng', distinguishing it from other satsuma mandarin cultivars. The selected SNP markers were validated by HRM with HRM-specific primers. The multiplex PCR with P1/P5 and P2/P5 also identified 'Haryejosaeng' obtained from a farm growing 17 different cultivars of satsuma mandarin. Specific SNP molecular markers were determined for accurately identifying the 'Haryejosaeng' cultivar by multiplex PCR to save the time and costs associated with its supply to breeders of satsuma mandarin.
