The current study aimed to investigate the novel regulatory circuitry of lncRNA metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1)/miR-140-5p/G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR)-kinase 2 interacting protein 2 (GIT2) on the odontogenic differentiation of hDPSCs. In hDPSCs, miR-140-5p was downregulated during the odontogenic differentiation, which was verified to directly target GIT2. RNA crosstalk determined by dual-luciferase reporter and RNA pull-down assays revealed that MALAT1 could bind to miR-140-5p to upregulate the expression of GIT2. After that, the levels of MALAT1, miR-140-5p, and GIT2 in hDPSCs were up- or downregulated by exogenous transfection or lentivirus infection in order to investigate their effects on the differentiation of hDPSCs. It was observed that elevation of miR-140-5p or knockdown of GIT2 resulted in inhibited alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, expression of dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSPP), dentin matrix-protein-1 (DMP-1), and distal-less homeobox 3 (DLX3) as well as positive expression of desmoplakin (DSP) protein. The promotive effects of MALAT1 on odontogenic differentiation were diminished by restoration of miR-140-5p or inhibition of GIT2. Taken together, this study provides valuable evidence suggesting MALAT1 as a potential contributor to the odontogenic differentiation of hDPSCs.
We conducted this study to investigate the feasibility of mobilizing the bilateral internal thoracic arteries (ITAs) using the da Vinci SP through a single intercostal incision and to compare the amount of rib spreading with that required for mini-thoracotomy procedures. We also evaluated the construction of an intrathoracic T-graft anastomosis using existing instrumentation of the SP system.
We harvested bilateral ITAs from two male cadavers via a single incision made in the fifth intercostal space using the da Vinci SP. A T-graft end-to-side anastomosis was created in one cadaver.
The bilateral ITAs were harvested in less than 60min and a T-graft was completed. No additional rib spreading was required. Intraoperative adjustments of the da Vinci SP were necessary to maintain alignment with the surgical targets.

The impact of using an older donor pancreas on the clinical outcomes of pancreas transplantation (PTx) is unknown. We investigated this by comparing the outcomes of PTx using older and younger donors in a single Japanese center, to expand the donor criteria.
The subjects were 54 patients who received PTx from deceased donors in our institution. Posttransplant outcomes were analyzed based on donor age, with older donors defined as those aged ≥ 60years.
The donors included six older (11.1%; aged 64 ± 4years) and 48 younger donors (88.9%; aged 43 ± 12years). There was no significant difference in the donor age between the recipients with vs. those without postoperative complications or between those with vs. those without early pancreas graft loss. Long-term outcomes, including overall, pancreas graft, and kidney graft survival after PTx, did not differ significantly between the older and younger donor groups. Graft age, defined as the age of the donor at the time of procurement plus the graft survival period, was not associated with graft loss.
Our results suggest that post-transplant outcomes of PTx using pancreas from older donors aged ≥ 60years are comparable to those using pancreas from younger donors, and support expansion of the donor pool for transplantation therapy for type 1 diabetes mellitus.
