Perceived efficacy was positively associated with intention to change behavior, as well as with lower suppression, lower reappraisal, and greater denial. Suppression was the only defensive reaction to be associated with intention to change behavior greater suppression was linked to less intention to change. Conclusions Our results open interesting perspectives for research into defensive reactions.
The start of university is a critical period for health risk behavior (i.e. eating, physical activity, alcohol use) which can be influenced by expectations and by environmental factors such as living arrangement, health behaviors of close social ties (i.e. parents, partners, peers), and time spent with peers. We investigated associations between environmental factors and current/expected health behaviors of German freshmen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Current and expected physical activity was associated to that of all social ties, current and expected alcohol use to partner's and peers' alcohol use, while current and expected eating was only associated to peers' eating. The relationship between partner's or peers' and participant's alcohol use was moderated by coresidence, with a greater probability of engaging in these behaviors observed in case of coresidence. Perceived peer encouragement for alcohol consumption moderated the relationship between peer alcohol use and the number of drinks consumed by participants per month. click here Participants who spend more time with peers were more likely to consume higher amounts of alcohol. No differences were found regarding present and expected behaviors of participants who moved out of their parents' home and those who did not.

Anosmia and hyposmia have many etiologies, including trauma, chronic sinusitis, neoplasms, and respiratory viral infections such as rhinovirus and SARS-CoV-2. We aimed to systematically review the literature on the diagnostic evaluation of anosmia/hyposmia.

PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases were searched for articles published since January 1990 using terms combined with Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). We included articles evaluating diagnostic modalities for anosmia, written in the English language, used original data, and had two or more patients.

A total of 2065 unique titles were returned upon the initial search. Of these, 226 abstracts were examined, yielding 27 full-text articles meeting inclusion criteria (Level of evidence ranging from 1 to 4; most level 2). The studies included a total of 13,577 patients. The most utilized diagnostic tools were orthonasal smell tests (such as the Sniffin' Sticks and the UPSIT, along with validated abridged smell tests). Though various imaging modalities (including MRI and CT) were frequently mentioned in the workup of olfactory dysfunction, routine imaging was not used to primarily diagnose smell loss.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the functional and radiographic outcome in patients with reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) for displaced proximal humeral fractures (PHF) with or without tenotomy of the supraspinatus tendon.

Between June 2011 and June 2018, 159 patients (age >65 years) with a displaced proximal humeral fracture underwent reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (Grammont design) in a single-center study and were longitudinally followed up. In all cases, the tuberosities were attached to the prosthesis in a standardized procedure. Functional outcome, range of motion as well as tuberosity integration, resorption and displacement were assessed at final follow-up. Outcomes were compared between patients that underwent RSA in combination with tenotomy of the supraspinatus (ST) and patients that underwent RSA without supraspinatus tenotomy (NT).
