Structural portrayal as well as damaging the particular mechanised attributes of the carapace follicle within tri-spine horseshoe crab (Tachypleus tridentatus).
Marine organisms have received mounting attention in antiaging activity due to their exclusive chemicals. This review aims at revealing and discussing prospective antiaging substance from marine macroalgae, micaroalgae, invertebrate and vertebrate. The activity and mechanism of the carbohydrate, protein, pigment, flavonoids, fatty acids, phenols from marine organisms were revealed through a variety of antiaging experimental models such as rats, Drosophila melanogaster and Caenorhabditis elegans. And meanwhile, the problems and prospects aspects were discussed for future research in this field. It was suggested that the antiaging functional ingredients from these marine organisms are alternative sources for synthetic ingredients that can contribute to consumer's well-being, as part of nutraceuticals, functional foods and cosmetics.Edible oils are used as a frying medium and in the preparation of several food products. They are mainly constituting triacylglycerols as major components, while other compounds are classified as minor constituents, which include polyphenols. This class of compounds plays an important role in the thermal stability and quality attributes of the finished industrial food products. In addition to other antioxidants, the desired thermal stability of edible is achieved by either fortification or mixing of edible oils. This comprehensive review was therefore aimed to review the different classes of polyphenolic compounds present in commonly consumed edible oils. The edible oils reviewed include soybean, olive, rapeseed, canola, sunflower, flaxseed, sesame, cottonseed, palm, almond, peanut, chestnut, coconut, and hazelnut oils. The identified classes of polyphenolic compounds such as simple phenols, hydroxybenzoic acids, phenylethanoids, hydroxycinnamic acid, esters of hydroxycinnamic acids, coumarins & chromans, stilbenes, flavonoids, anthocyanins, and lignans were discussed. It was observed that a single edible from different origins showed the varied composition of the different classes of phenolic compounds. Among the oils, soybean, sunflower, olive, and brassica oils received higher attention in terms of polyphenol composition. Some classes of phenolic compounds were either not reported or absent in one edible oil, while present in others. Among the different classes of phenolics, hydroxybenzoic acids, hydroxycinnamic acid and flavonoids were the most widely present compounds. Phenolic compounds in edible oils possess several health benefits such as antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumour, antioxidants, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, anti-diabetic properties and anti-obesity.The aim of the present study was to assess the cultivable microbiota of "mothers" of Vino cotto collected from production of different years 1890, 1895, 1920, 1975, 2008. A total of 73 yeasts and 81 bacteria were isolated. Starmerella lactis-condensi, Starmerella bacillaris, Hanseniaspora uvarum, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Hanseniaspora guillermondi and Metschnikowia pulcherrima were identified. Bacteria isolates belonged to lactic acid bacteria (Lactiplantibacillus plantarum and Pediococcus pentosaceus) and acetic acid bacteria (Gluconobacter oxydans). Remarkable biodiversity was observed for Starm. bacillaris, as well as L. plantarum and G. oxydans. Organic acids and volatile compounds were also determined. Malic and succinic acids were the main ones with values ranging from 8.49 g/L to 11.76 g/L and from 4.15 g/L to 7.73 g/L respectively, while citric acid was present at low concentrations ( less then 0.2 g/L) in all samples. Esters and higher alcohols were the main volatile compounds detected followed by alkanes. This study permits to better understand the microbial communities associated to this product and could be considered a starting point for the definition of tailored starter cultures to improve the quality of Vino cotto preserving its typical traits. In recent decades, eye-movement detection technology has improved significantly, and eye-trackers are available not only as standalone research tools but also as computer peripherals. This rapid spread gives further opportunities to measure the eye-movements of participants. The current paper provides classification models for the prediction of food choice and selects the best one. Four choice sets were presented to 112 volunteered participants, each choice set consisting of four different choice tasks, resulting in altogether sixteen choice tasks. Ac-FLTD-CMK in vivo The choice sets followed the 2-, 4-, 6- and 8-alternative forced-choice paradigm. Tobii X2-60 eye-tracker and Tobii Studio software were used to capture and export gazing data, respectively. After variable filtering, thirteen classification models were elaborated and tested; moreover, eight performance parameters were computed. The models were compared based on the performance parameters using the sum of ranking differences algorithm. The algorithm ranks and groups the models by comparing the ranks of their performance metrics to a predefined gold standard. Techniques based on decision trees were superior in all cases, regardless of the choice tasks and food product categories. Among the classifiers, Quinlan's C4.5 and cost-sensitive decision trees proved to be the best-performing ones. Future studies should focus on the fine-tuning of these models as well as their applications with mobile eye-trackers.In Brazil, Cynoscion leiarchus and Plagioscion squamosissimus are the species allowed to be labeled as "pescada-branca". These species have high economic value, especially when sold in the form of fillets. Therefore, when morphological traits are removed, fish are highly prone to be substituted, which has been reported for species of the family Sciaenidae sold in Brazil, including "pescada-branca". We have sequenced 618 bp of the COI of 143 samples to re-evaluate the occurrence of substitutions in frozen "pescada-branca" marketed in Brazil. We observed more than 73% of mislabeling, with only 26.57% being P. squamosissimus, and none, C. leiarchus. In general, the substitutes were closely related Sciaenidae, but cheaper species, which indicates commercial fraud. Based on these results we used 1.2 kb of COI to develop an octaplex PCR assay that unequivocally identified the target species and six substitute species through the banding pattern. Specific reverse primers combined with a universal forward primer were used in the protocol and identified the species C.
