3% a stage improvement, and 8.6% a stage progression. Worsened patients showed higher rates of comorbid disorders and higher rates of unfavorable employment characteristics compared to the other subgroups (P<.05). Patients with worsened stage showed higher prevalence of somatic obsessions (P<.05), while patients with improved stage showed higher rates of magical thinking and violence/harm obsessions compared to other groups (P<.05).
The present results provide epidemiologic and clinical correlates of the first application of a staging model in a sample of OCD patients, encouraging further studies to assess the utility of this approach in the field.

The extraordinarily resistant bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans withstands harsh environmental conditions present in outer space. Deinococcus radiodurans was exposed for 1 year outside the International Space Station within Tanpopo orbital mission to investigate microbial survival and space travel. In addition, a ground-based simulation experiment with conditions, mirroring those from low Earth orbit, was performed.
We monitored Deinococcus radiodurans cells during early stage of recovery after low Earth orbit exposure using electron microscopy tools. Furthermore, proteomic, transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses were performed to identify molecular mechanisms responsible for the survival of Deinococcus radiodurans in low Earth orbit.
D. radiodurans cells exposed to low Earth orbit conditions do not exhibit any morphological damage. However, an accumulation of numerous outer-membrane-associated vesicles was observed. On levels of proteins and transcripts, a multi-faceted response was detected to allevired in the context of planetary protection concerns and the development of new sterilization techniques for future space missions. Video Abstract.
Low Earth orbit induced molecular rearrangements trigger multiple components of metabolic stress response and regulatory networks in exposed microbial cells. Presented results show that the non-sporulating bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans survived long-term low Earth orbit exposure if wavelength below 200 nm are not present, which mirrors the UV spectrum of Mars, where CO2 effectively provides a shield below 190 nm. These results should be considered in the context of planetary protection concerns and the development of new sterilization techniques for future space missions. Video Abstract.
Recent increases in understanding the ecological and evolutionary roles of microbial communities have underscored the importance of their hosts' biology. Yet, little is known about gut microbiota dynamics during the early stages of ecological diversification and speciation. We sequenced the V4 region of the 16s rRNA gene to study the gut microbiota of Nicaraguan Midas cichlid fish (Amphilophus cf. citrinellus). Specifically, we tested the hypothesis that parallel divergence in trophic ecology in extremely young adaptive radiations from two crater lakes is associated with parallel changes of their gut microbiota.
Bacterial communities of fish guts and lake water were highly distinct, indicating that the gut microbiota is shaped by host-specific factors. Among individuals of the same crater lake, differentiation in trophic ecology was weakly associated with gut microbiota differentiation, suggesting that diet, to some extent, affects the gut microbiota. However, differences in trophic ecology were much more pronounced across than within species whereas similar patterns were not observed for taxonomic and functional differences of the gut microbiota. Across the two crater lakes, we could not detect conclusive evidence for parallel changes of the gut microbiota associated with trophic ecology.
A lack of clearly differentiated niches during the early stages of ecological diversification might result in non-parallel changes of gut microbial communities, as observed in our study system as well as in other recently diverged fish species. Video Abstract.

Acetabular orientation changes after periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) lead to technical change when performing subsequent total hip arthroplasty (THA). There is no unified consensus regarding the solution for acetabular component installation after PAO. In the current study, we performed computed tomography (CT)-based simulation of acetabular component installation and compared the acetabular defect and component position following THA after PAO and the same patient before PAO.
From January 2014 to December 2018, pelvic models of 28 patients (28 hips) underwent PAO and with the risk factors to develop secondary osteoarthritis. The acetabular reconstruction process was simulated using 3D models from CT data, and the acetabular component coverage was calculated in 3D space based on the measurement and algorithm we proposed. We evaluated the anterior, posterior, superior, inferior acetabular sector angle (ASA), the medial wall thickness (MWT), and the distance from the hip center to the plane of pubic symphysich as 4 mm and increase acetabular cup anteversion were therapeutic options for DDH patients following THA after PAO.
Periprosthetic fibroblast-like cells (PPFs) play an important role in aseptic loosening of arthroplasties. Various studies have examined PPF behavior in monolayer culture systems. However, the periprosthetic tissue is a three-dimensional (3D) mesh, which allows the cells to interact in a multidirectional way. The expression of bone remodeling markers of fibroblast-like cells in a multilayer environment changes significantly versus monolayer cultures without the addition of particles or cytokine stimulation. HA15 cost Gene expression of bone remodeling markers was therefore compared in fibroblast-like cells from different origins and dermal fibroblasts under transwell culture conditions versus monolayer cultures.
PPFs from periprosthetic tissues (n = 12), osteoarthritic (OA) synovial fibroblast-like cells (SFs) (n = 6), and dermal fibroblasts (DFs) were cultured in monolayer (density 5.5 × 10
/cm
) or multilayer cultures (density 8.5 × 10
/cm
) for 10 or 21days. Cultures were examined via histology, TRAP staining, immunohistochemistry (anti-S100a4), and quantitative real-time PCR.
