To describe the use of antimicrobial drugs for food animals in New Zealand, based on sales data reported to government for 2005-2018, to provide a baseline to determine the success of measures to reduce antimicrobial use for food animals and to compare usage to selected European countries.

Data were sourced from official government and industry reports to update previous estimates of use (as amount sold) of antimicrobial products applied to animals in New Zealand. The data included antimicrobial sales and animal populations, weighted where appropriate by breed and age class. Antimicrobial use was estimated based on the amount of active ingredient sold, per kg of animal biomass standardised to the probable weight at time of treatment or lifetime average but not slaughter weight (population correction unit; PCU). New Zealand data for 2017 and 2018 were adjusted to account only for antimicrobials used for farm animals by discounting horticulture use, companion animal use and export.

Since 2015, a community agency has implemented community-based, peer-led support groups for Bhutanese refugees, with 17 groups in 2018-2019. This study describes the agency's quality assurance evaluation through group leader feedback, observation reports, and focus groups. The results of 46 quality assurance documents show that this group of Bhutanese refugees perceive their health through the mind-body connection, viewing physical and mental health as linked and supported by yoga, mindfulness, exercise, nutrition, and creative expression.
Estimating cancer risk associated with interplanetary space travel is complicated. Human exposure data to high atomic number, high-energy (HZE) radiation is lacking, so data from low linear energy transfer (low-LET) γ-ray radiation is used in risk models, with the assumption that HZE and γ-ray radiation have comparable biological effects. This assumption has been challenged by reports indicating that HZE radiation might produce more aggressive tumors. The goal of this research is to test whether high-LET HZE radiation induced tumors are more aggressive.

Murine models of mammary and liver cancer were used to compare the impact of exposure to 0.2Gy of 300MeV/n silicon ions, 3 Gy of γ-rays or no radiation. Numerous measures of tumor aggressiveness were assessed.

For the mammary cancer models, there was no significant change in the tumor latency or metastasis in silicon-irradiated mice compared to controls. For the liver cancer models, we observed an increase in tumor incidence but not tumor aggressiveness in irradiated mice.

This study used data from the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) for Kenya (2014) of ever married women (n = 5265). Majority of the women did not seek help after experiencing IPV (55.5%). Women justification for IPV decreased the odds of seeking help from informal services by 0.75 times and formal services by 0.58 times. Understanding cultural determinants of help seeking would contribute in the development of effective policies and programs for preventing and responding to IPV in Kenya and across the world.The global death toll to date of the COVID-19 pandemic has been enormous, and millions of people are grieving these losses. The aim of the current study is to validate a Turkish version of the Pandemic Grief Scale (PGS), which is a brief English-language mental health screener to identify probable cases of dysfunctional grief associated with a COVID-19 death. Participants were assessed using the PGS, Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4) and Work and Social Adjustment Scale (WSAS). We surveyed 758 Turkish native speakers who participated online. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the factor structure of the PGS was satisfactory. The scale was internally consistent with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.77 and a composite reliability of 0.90. The PGS demonstrated construct validity with strong correlations with suicidal ideation and substance use coping. Positive correlations of the PGS with the PHQ-4 and the WSAS demonstrated adequate convergent validity. The PGS discriminates well between persons with and without dysfunctional grief using an optimized cut score of ≥ 3 (89% sensitivity and 72% specificity).
