Liver cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the liver and has a high mortality rate. We strived to detect the role and mechanism of circRNA-0072309 in liver cancer. Hep3B cell line was transfected with pc-circ and si-circ for viability, colony formation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion tests, which were individually performed by CCK-8, colony formation detection, flow cytometry assay, migration and invasion assays. What is more, the luciferase reporter assay was conducted to determine the target relationship between the circRNA-0072309 and microRNA (miR)-665. The expression of circRNA-0072309 was examined by qRT-PCR. The expression of proteins was examined via western blot. CircRNA-0072309 was lowly expressed in liver cancer tissues and positively associated with 5-year survival rate. The viability, colony formation, invasive and migratory ability were inhibited by abundant circRNA-0072309, which promoted cell apoptosis on the contrary. CircRNA-0072309 knockdown induced opposite effects, but could not affect apoptosis. Overexpressed miR-665 in tumor tissues was targeted and negatively controlled by circRNA-0072309. The PI3K/AKT and Wnt/β-catenin pathways were inhibited by abundant circRNA-0072309. miR-665 overexpression disturbed those effects derived from pc-circ. The circRNA-0072309 had antitumor influences in Hep3B cell line through targeting miR-665 relying on the deactivation of PI3K/AKT and Wnt/β-catenin pathways. © 2020 International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.There is growing interest in using predictive analytics to drive interventions that reduce avoidable healthcare utilization. This study evaluates the impact of such an intervention utilizing claims from 2013 to 2017 for high-risk Medicare Advantage patients with congestive heart failure. A predictive algorithm using clinical and nonclinical information produced a risk score ranking for health plan members in 10 separate waves between July 2013 and May 2015. Each wave was followed by an outreach intervention. The varying capacity for outreach across waves created a set of arbitrary intervention treatment cutoff points, separating treated and untreated members with very similar predicted risk scores. We estimate a difference-in-differences model to identify the effects of the intervention program among patients with a high score on care utilization. We find that enrollment in the intervention decreased the probability and number of hospitalizations (by 43% and 50%, respectively) and emergency room visits (10% and 14%, respectively), reduced the time until a primary care visit (8.2 days), and reduced total medical cost by $716 per month in the first 6 months following outreach. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.Seawater acidification from increasing CO2 is often enhanced in coastal waters due to elevated nutrients and sedimentation. Our understanding of the effects of ocean and coastal acidification on present-day ecosystems is limited. Here we use data from three independent large-scale reef monitoring programs to assess coral reef responses associated with changes in mean aragonite saturation state (Ωar ) in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (GBR). Spatial declines in mean Ωar are associated with monotonic declines in crustose coralline algae (up to 3.1-fold) and coral juvenile densities (1.3-fold), while non-calcifying macroalgae greatly increase (up to 3.2-fold), additionally to their natural changes across and along the GBR. These three key groups of organisms are important proxies for coral reef health. Our data suggest a tipping point at Ωar 3.5-3.6 for these coral reef health indicators. Suspended sediments acted as an additive stressor. The latter suggests that effective water quality management to reduce suspended sediments might locally and temporarily reduce the pressure from ocean acidification on these organisms. © 2020 Commonwealth of Australia. Manifestation of these properties requires atomically precise GNRs which can be achieved through a bottom-up synthesis approach. This has recently been applied to the synthesis of width-modulated GNRs hosting topological electronic quantum phases, with valence electronic properties that are well captured by the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model describing a 1D chain of interacting dimers. Here, ultralow bandgap GNRs with charge carriers behaving as massive Dirac fermions can be realized when their valence electrons represent an SSH chain close to the topological phase boundary, i.e., when the intra- and interdimer coupling become approximately equal. Such a system has been achieved via on-surface synthesis based on readily available pyrene-based precursors and the resulting GNRs are characterized by scanning probe methods. The pyrene-based GNRs (pGNRs) can be processed under ambient conditions and incorporated as the active material in a field effect transistor. A quasi-metallic transport behavior is observed at room temperature, whereas at low temperature, the pGNRs behave as quantum dots showing single-electron tunneling and Coulomb blockade. This study may enable the realization of devices based on carbon nanomaterials with exotic quantum properties. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.The main aim of the present study was to evaluate the measurement invariance and the convergent validity of the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) across clinical and nonclinical samples. A total of 216 psychiatric patients (47.7% females; Mage = 44.56) and 235 participants from the general population (54.5% females; Mage = 43.11 years) were recruited. The measurement invariance was tested by a multi-group confirmatory factor analysis. Full scalar invariance of the SWLS was supported. Psychiatric patients reported substantially lower life satisfaction than participants from the general population. selleck chemicals The SWLS demonstrated good convergent validity in both samples.
