To compare the root length of maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth between open bite patients and normal overbite patients via cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) as well as the root length of anterior teeth in different degree of open bite patients, and to analyze the correlation between the degree of open bite and root length.

To compare the differences in clinical characteristics between Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and fulminant Type 1 diabetes mellitus (FT1DM), and to reduce the missed diagnosis, misdiagnosis, and mistreatment of FT1DM by medical staff.
A total of 101 hospitalized patients with T1DM (including 8 cases of FT1DM) were enrolled in this study from Changsha Central Hospital between June 2012 and December 2018. Clinical characteristics of the 8 FT1DM patients were collected and compared with all T1DM patients.
All FT1DM patients were adult with the average age of (30.25±5.28) years old, accompanied by severe diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) occurred within 1 week after onset. Moreover, pancreatic beta cells in these patients were destroyed and the islet-related antibodies were negative, while the serum pancreatic enzyme levels were increased. Compared with classic T1DM patients, the plasma glucose levels in FT1DM patients were much higher [(41.89±12.54) mmol/L vs (22.57±9.74) mmol/L], but glycosylated hemoglobin (dolescents and adults with no gender difference, especially pregnant women who are at high risk. Lifelong insulin dependence in FT1DM patients should be paid more attention in clinical treatment.
To explore the electrocardiogram manifestations and clinical characteristics of patients with the de Winter electrocardiogram pattern.
This retrospective study was performed on acute coronary syndrome (ACS), patients with culprit lesion in left anterior descending branch (LAD), who admitted to Yongchuan Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from August 2017 to October 2018. Patients were categorized into those with or without the de Winter electrocardiogram pattern. The characteristics of de Winter electrocardiogram were analyzed by the clinical data of the patients.
Among 230 patients with left anterior descending branch lesion, 14 (6%) had the de Winter electrocardiogram pattern. Compared with the control group, patients with de Winter electrocardiogram pattern were younger [(53.86±10.26) years old vs (67.20± 11.60) years old
<0.01], at higher LDL-C level [3.54(2.88, 4.20) mmol/L vs 2.61(2.48, 2.73) mmol/L,
=0.01], in lower classification degree of cardiac function [Killip I grade 12 cases (85.71%) vs 95 cases (43.98%),
=0.04], and in shorter time between onset and the first electrocardiogram [171.77(47.56, 295.97) min vs 501.92(405.12, 598.72) min,
=0.01]. Coronary angiography results indicated anterior descending or diagonal branch lesions.

Oculomotor nerve palsy is a kind of disease with many causes, showing eye movement disorders, abnormal eyelid position, and/or damage of the pupil. The etiology of oculomotor nerve palsy in different departments is different. The study discussed the etiology, localization of the lesion, and prognosis for oculomotor nerve palsy firstly diagnosed in department of ophthalmology.
Clinical data of 137 hospitalized patients with oculomotor nerve palsy at the Department of Ophthalmology, the First Medical Center of PLA General Hospital from 2009 to 2018 were retrospectively collected. The etiology and its distribution characteristics in different age groups, the location of the lesion, and the prognosis of patients were analyzed.
In 137 patients, the top 3 causes for oculomotor nerve palsy were head trauma (38.69%), cavernous sinus lesions (12.40%), and orbital inflammation (9.49%). Other causes included intracranial aneurysm, the intracranial space-occupying lesion, cerebral vessel diseases, infection, orbitasy first diagnosed in ophthalmology department. Traumatic oculomotor nerve palsy is common in adolescents. Oculomotor nerve palsy caused by diabetes and cerebrovascular disease are common in the middle-aged and elderly people. Most of the lesions locate in the orbital apex and cavernous sinus. The prognosis of corrected visual acuity is poor. The prognosis of ptosis and ocular dyskinesia caused by intracranial aneurysm, cerebrovascular disease, and diabetes is good. Figuring out the cause timely and accurately is the basis and key to treat oculomotor nerve palsy.
Bispectral index (BIS) can reflect the depth of propofol sedation. This study aims to compare the anesthetic satisfaction, anesthetic dose, and hemodynamic changes between closed-loop target controlled infusion (CLTCI) and open-loop target controlled infusion (OLTCI) during abdominal surgery.
From December 2016 to December 2018, 70 patients undergoing abdominal surgery under general anesthesia were selected in Beijing Hospital, including 51 males and 19 females, at the age from 49 to 65 years old. They were classified as grade I-II by the American Society of anesthesiologists (ASA) and were randomly divided into the CLTCI group and the OLTCI group (
=35). The CLTCI group received propofol CLTCI, and the target BIS value was set between 45 to 55; in the OLTCI group, the plasma target concentration was adjusted to maintain the BIS value between 40 to 60. Both groups were given remifentanil by target controlled infusion, and the plasma target concentration was 6.0 ng/mL. The percentages of adequate anesthesia time, deep anesthesia time, and light anesthesia time were calculated.
