Results In this single-case research design study, a functional relation was evaluated for each participant (i.e., replication of an effect across three story grammar elements). A functional relation between Story Champs intervention and the dependent variable was observed for two participants. Conclusion Results provide preliminary evidence for the efficacy of individually administered Story Champs intervention for children with SLI.Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the main causes of the high death rate in the world. But the molecular mechanisms of GC carcinogenesis remain little known. This study aimed to identify novel promising biomarkers of GC and reveal its potential molecular mechanisms by integrating bioinformatics analysis. We screened the overlapped differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of TCGA and several GEO datasets. VU661013 Among these DEGs, we used protein-protein interactions network analysis to recognize the hub genes. Moreover, functional enrichment analysis including GO and KEGG pathway analysis and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) were performed to study the role of DEGs and potential underlying mechanisms of GC. Based on integrated bioinformatics analysis, SERPINH1, COL1A2, COL8A1, COL4A1, COL5A1, COL12A1, and COL1A1 were screened as candidate diagnostic marker genes. In addition, SERPINH1 was identified as a core gene in the regulation of GC development. Furthermore, we confirmed that SERPINH1 could promote the proliferation, migration, and cell cycle of GC cells. Our present study demonstrated that SERPINH1 was a core therapeutic biomarker in the regulation of candidate genes involved in GC progression.Research conducted in various parts of the globe suggests that young people who can openly communicate with their parents about sexuality benefit in many ways. Correspondingly, in Bangladesh, the lack of an open communication on sexuality in the youth-parent relationship is considered a barrier to ensuring young people's sexual and reproductive health and overall well-being. Taking 'silence' as a core concept, this paper investigates what silence on sexuality means to Bangladeshi young people in their relationship with parents. It draws on findings from an ethnographic study conducted among 72 middle-class boys and girls aged between 15 and 19 years and 18 parents living in Dhaka over a year between 2016 and 2017. The findings suggest that silence is not always perceived as problematic by young people, and this is particularly true for topics related to sexual pleasure. This paper challenges the monolithic understanding that silence is necessarily bad and hinders young people from getting what they need. It offers an additional conceptual understanding to silence for studying sexuality among youths and designing interventions for their sexual and reproductive well-being.Both laboratory and field respirometry are rapidly growing techniques to determine animal performance thresholds. However, replicating protocols to estimate maximum metabolic rate (MMR) between species, populations, and individuals can be difficult, especially in the field. We therefore evaluated seven different exercise treatments-four laboratory methods involving a swim tunnel (critical swim speed [Ucrit], Ucrit postswim fatigue, maximum swim speed [Umax], and Umax postswim fatigue) and three field-based chasing methods (3-min chase with 1-min air exposure, 3-min chase with no air exposure, and chase to exhaustion)-in adult coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) as a case study to determine best general practices for measuring and quantifying MMR in fish. We found that all seven methods were highly comparable and that chase treatments represent a valuable field alternative to swim tunnels. Moreover, we caution that the type of test and duration of measurement windows used to calculate MMR can have significant effects on estimates of MMR and statistical power for each approach. This study aimed to assess the effect of the insulin-like grow factor 1 (IGF-1) treatment during in vitro maturation on the gene expression and developmental ability of ovine oocytes. Ovine cumulus-oocyte complexes (COC) were matured in vitro without (control) or with the supplementation of IGF-1 (100 ng/ml) and then subjected to in vitro fertilization and culture. The rate of oocyte maturation and embryo development was recorded and expression of the selected genes (involved in the PI3K/Akt and apoptosis signaling) was assessed in the matured oocytes. The IGF-1 treatment significantly (p less then .05) improved the oocyte maturation rate (%) as compared to the control (81.5 ± 2.40 vs. 73.6 ± 0.94). Similarly, as compared to the control, the IGF-1 treatment significantly (p less then .05) improved the rate (%) of cleavage (54.7 ± 1.58 vs. 67.2 ± 3.65) and the formation of 4-8 cell embryos (30.7 ± 2.89 vs. 44.1 ± 4.01) and morula (20.7 ± 2.08 vs. 32.8 ± 2.78). The IGF-1 treatment significantly (p less then .05) upregulated the expression of IGF1R, PI3KR1, AKT1 and BCL2 and downregulated the expression of GSK3β, FOXO3 and CASP9 in the matured oocytes. In conclusion, the IGF-1 treatment significantly improved the developmental competence of ovine oocytes through the regulation of the PI3K/Akt and apoptosis signaling. Background It remains unclear whether the end-of-life (EOL) treatment/environment impacts on survival after anticancer treatment in terminally ill women with ovarian carcinoma (OC). Objective The aim of this investigation was to clarify how long those women actually survived after their last anticancer treatments and their hallmarks. Setting, Design, and Measurements Between 2003 and 2011, 79 terminally ill women with OC were retrospectively analyzed as a single institutional study. Postcancer treatment survival (PCS), defined as the duration between the last date of the abovementioned "cancer treatment" and that of death from any cause, was analyzed on stratification by type of supportive care or where patients spend their EOL. Inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW)-adjusted Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses were employed to compare PCS between the two groups. Results The median PCS of patients was 10.8 weeks. In the multivariable analysis, the performance status and EOL place retained their significance as independent prognostic factors of poorer PCS (performance status [2-3/0-1] hazard ratio [HR] = 3.
