Riverine runoff is a significant transport pathway for microplastics (MPs) discharged from land-based sources to marine environments where MPs accumulate. Knowledge of riverine MP-associated biofilms will improve the understanding of the fate and potential effects of MPs in marine environments. This study aimed to characterize the microbial biofilms colonizing MPs in the riverine water of the Pearl River Delta, China, and identify the seasonal, geographical and environmental influences on MP-associated communities. We sampled MPs and the surrounding surface water from eight outlets in three seasons and analyzed their microbial communities by Illumina sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene libraries. Across all sampling seasons and locations, abundant MP-colonizing taxa belonged to the phylum Proteobacteria, which suggested initial biofilm development on those MPs. The structure and composition of MP-attached microbial communities varied with respect to season and location, and the microbial diversity of the MP-associated biofilm communities decreased in June compared with that in the April and November sampling events. Opportunistic pathogens of the genus Acinetobacter were significantly enriched on the MP surfaces for all sampling events. Among the 15 environmental variables examined, the main drivers of MP-associated biofilm community composition included IC, alkalinity, TOC, TDS, Cl-, NO3-, NO2- and pH. This study provides an insight into the environmental factors that shape microbial biofilm colonization on MPs in estuary environments and a further understanding of the structure, diversity and ecological roles of MP-associated communities.Modifying the structures and doping are proven to be effective methods to tune the structural and electrical properties of g-C3N4 quantum dots. Hence, in this study, tri-s-triazine and tri-nitro tri-s-triazine have been studied by functionalizing their edges with hydrogen. The H-functionalized tri-nitro tri-s-triazine quantum dot displays a buckled structure with a band gap of 1.988 eV, whereas the tri-s-triazine demonstrates a planner structure with a band gap of 1.636 eV. The obtained results have been compared with the previous results. The absorbance spectrum of H-functionalized trinitro tri-s-triazine falls under the visible region with a peak value of 488 nm, and the absorption spectrum of tri-s-triazine falls at 790 nm. The planarity of the tri-nitro tri-s-triazine structure is improved by doping the B atom in the N site, and the band gap of H-functionalized B doped tri-nitro tri-s-triazine is 1.143 eV. The absorbance spectrum of H-functionalized B doped tri-nitro tri-s-triazine is 508 nm. The reactivity of the structure is increased by doping B atoms, and it is confirmed by the electrophilicity index. Similarly, the H-functionalized B doped tri-s-triazine exhibits a band gap of 1.328 eV. Further, the tri-s-triazine structures are arranged in ternary form, and the properties are studied by increasing the number of B atoms in the tri-s-triazine rings. The outcome presents that the structures are planar, and band gap values are reduced further. Also, the reactivity of the sheets is increased, which is confirmed by the electrophilicity index. It is proposed that the sheets with a high reactivity can be used for the removal of hazardous ions and molecules from the industrial wastage.Radiocarbon (14C) is a unique and important tool for understanding carbon cycle in the nature, and its use can be significantly enhanced where reliable historical atmospheric Δ14CO2 records can be established. In China, continuous atmospheric Δ14CO2 records since the 1950s are scarce, a period when dramatic variations of Δ14CO2 occurred caused by intensive human activities. In this research, Δ14C of Qinghai spruce tree rings collected from Huangzhong (HZ) (36.27°N, 101.67°E, 2982 m amsl) were measured by Accelerator Mass Spectrometry, and a Δ14CO2 time series from 1957 to 2015 was reconstructed. The results show that HZ Δ14C was generally higher than the contemporaneous average level in the mid-high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere. The peak value of HZ Δ14C occurred in 1964 (as bomb peak) was higher than that of other tree ring records in East Asia at a similar latitude, likely due to the impact of the atmosphere nuclear tests at Semipalatinsk (Kazakhstan). The record shows no obvious disturbance of Lop Nor nuclear weapons tests (in Northwest China) during 1964-1980, except for 1971. Increasing studies reported increased mortality risk associated with exposure to lower-than-standard air pollution. This study aimed to investigate mortality burden and life expectancy loss due to lower-than-standard particulate matter air pollution in Hong Kong, China.

We obtained 17-year (2000-2016) daily time-series data on mortality, particulate matters with aerodynamic diameters <2.5 μm (PM
) and <10 μm (PM
). We applied a distributed lag non-linear model to fit the association of years of life lost (YLL) with PM
and PM
. Total YLL attributable to PM
and PM
concentrations below ambient air quality standards were estimated.

We estimated 5.2% of total YLL due to PM
, of which, 33.5%, 52.8% and 94.5% occurred in concentrations not exceeding the criterion of WHO, the USA, and China, corresponding to 0.3, 0.4 and 0.7 years loss in life expectancy, respectively. There was 6.9% (annual 34434.4 YLL) of total YLL due to PM
, of which, 50.7%, 50.7%, 99.5% and 99.5% occurred in concentrations below the criterion of WHO, Europe, the USA, and China, which corresponded to 0.5, 0.5, 1 and 1 year loss in life expectancy, respectively. Assuming that PM

concentrations had met stricter standards, more gains in life expectancy could be expected in women than in men, in people aged up to 64 years than those of 65 years or older, and in those with respiratory disease than those with cardiovascular disease.
