To report a previously unreported complication of phthisis after Argus II prosthesis implantation in a retinitis pigmentosa (RP) patient.

A 61-year-old male with advanced RP presented to the retina clinic. The patient had a history of vitrectomy in both eyes (OU) in Cuba in 1996. Pre-op visual acuity (VA) was no light perception (NLP) in the right eye and light perception (LP) in the left eye. The patient met the criteria for Argus II implantation and elected to proceed with surgery in his left eye in December 2017. The surgical implantation of the Argus II was successful without any complications. On postoperative day 1, his VA was stable at LP. He was satisfied with his ambulatory vision after the electrodes were turned on. Four months after surgery, the patient was complaining of aching pain; he was found to have preseptal cellulitis and was started on antibiotics. This swelling improved over two weeks, but when the patient returned, he had a two mm hyphema associated with mild ocular inflammation withuses of phthisis bulbi after Argus II implantation include fibrous downgrowth, ciliary shut down due to immune reaction, inflammation, or trauma. While the cause of phthisis in this Argus patient is not certain and possibly multifactorial, it is important to note that phthisis is a possible complication of an Argus II implant, as this patient had no other obvious insult or reason for the phthisical change.
Primary peritoneal ependymoma is an exceedingly rare tumour with only four cases reported in the literature. It typically follows an indolent disease course. We describe a rare case of metastatic primary peritoneal ependymoma which was treated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy resulting in prolonged survival to date for 10 years.
. The patient was a 23-year-old female on presentation. She presented with right upper quadrant pain associated with an abdominal mass. Computed tomography demonstrated a large mass displacing the liver. Debulking surgery was done revealing a tumour arising from the peritoneum as well as multiple metastatic pleural and peritoneal nodules. Pathology was consistent with primary peritoneal ependymoma. The patient was then treated with multiple lines of chemotherapy containing etoposide as the backbone. She also received palliative radiotherapy to the thoracic metastases with good and durable response.

We reported a rare case of metastatic primary peritoneal ependymoma. Etoposide containing the chemotherapy regimen is effective in the treatment of peritoneal ependymoma. Radiotherapy is also effective for palliation of local symptoms with durable response.

We report a case of borderline BT in a 54-year-old woman with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and FDG-PET/CT findings. Furthermore, ADC values and maximum standardized uptake value (SUV max) in the present case were compared with those of an additional 7 cases of benign BT in this institution in addition to literature reviews. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a pelvic unilocular cystic tumor with two solid components. The solid mass showing a low signal intensity (SI) in T2-weighted images (T2WI) and DWI was diagnosed as a benign BT histologically. The papillary tumor adjacent to the solid mass showing intermediate SI in T2WIs and high SI on DWI was a borderline BT. The mean ADC value (×10-3 mm2/s) of benign BTs (n = 7) and benign component in this case (n = 1) was 1.13, and the range of ADC values was broad (0.51-1.8). While, the ADC value of borderline Brenner component in this case was 1.10. The mean SUVmax of the benign BTs (n = 4) demonstrated mild FDG uptakes (2.3, range 1.9-2.6) in contrast with moderate FDG uptake (SUVmax 5.8) of borderline Brenner component in this case and high FDG uptake (SUVmax 9.6) of a malignant BT in a previous report. ADC values for the solid component of BTs are not useful for differentiating benign from malignant or borderline components, whereas PET/CT could be useful. This article elucidates the utilization of a novel platelet concentrate-concentrated growth factor (CGF) for rapid and successful healing outcome in regenerative endodontics. This case report focusses on two cases 23-year-old and 21-year-old patients with incomplete root formation and periapical lesion. read more and case 2 are classified as stage IV and stage II, respectively, in accordance with Cvek's classification of open apex and had varied outcomes. #link# The extent of open apex, root dentin thickness, and lesion were assessed using periapical radiograph and CBCT. Revascularization procedure was carried out after obtaining patient consent. Following bleeding induction, CGF was prepared, placed, and condensed using pluggers in the root canal space, followed by the placement of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) up to the level of CEJ. At 1-year follow-up, apical closure with increased root dentin thickness and reduced periapical radiolucency was evident.
Women living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) are more likely to develop an increased risk of invasive cervical cancer. Morbidity and mortality due to cervical cancer could be reduced with early detection through cervical screening. Though uptake of cervical screening was investigated in Ethiopia, inconsistent findings were reported. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis was designed to estimate the pooled prevalence of cervical cancer screening uptake among HIV-positive women and its associated factors in Ethiopia.

A comprehensive search of PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, EMBASE, CINAHL, Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Cochrane Library was conducted. The data were extracted using a standardized data extraction format. Statistical analysis was done using the STATA, version 14, software. The heterogeneity of the studies was assessed using the

test. Funnel plots and Egger's test were used to check publication bias. A random effects model was computed to estimate the pooled prevalence of cervical cancer screening uptake.
