FGF9/FGFR1 helps bring about mobile expansion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, M2 macrophage infiltration as well as liver organ metastasis involving lung cancer.
However, no significant (P > 0.05) difference was observed between maxillary intrusion (MAI and MSI) and maxillary extrusion (MAE) movements.

This study shows that the nasal width varies distinctly depending on the type of Le Fort I maxillary surgical movement.

This retrospective study analyzed the outcomes of patients undergoing complete or incomplete unilateral cleft lip repair using the Chang Gung technique. The goal was to compare the symmetry and change of the technique through the measurement of anthropometric points on digital photographs.

From 2010 to 2016, a total of 274 complete and incomplete cleft lip patients without other craniofacial deformities were included in the study. All included patients had a minimum 1-year follow-up with frontal view photographs taken. The vermilion area, lip width, vermilion height, lateral lip length, lip height, and Cupid's bow width of both cleft and noncleft sides were measured for all patients. The Cleft Lip Component Symmetry Index was used to determine the symmetry of the cleft and noncleft sides in both incomplete and complete cleft groups.

A total of 152 complete and 122 incomplete cleft lip patients were included in the study. The mean Cleft Lip Component Symmetry Index values showed that the vermilion area, uction and modifications could be made for both complete and incomplete groups. The complete cleft lip has been found to have a significantly shorter lateral lip length and lip height, reflecting a more severe anatomical soft tissue deficiency in this group. A long-term outcome anthropometric point study may further verify the results of this surgical technique.
Comminuted intraarticular fractures of the metacarpophalangeal joint (MPJ) are difficult to treat. We evaluated the clinical outcomes of using a dynamic traction splint to treat comminuted intraarticular fracture of MPJ.

We conducted a retrospective chart review on patients with comminuted intraarticular fracture of the MPJ treated with a dynamic traction splint at National Cheng Kung University Hospital between March 2014 and February 2018. The surgical procedures consisted of a transverse Kirschner wire insertion and treatment for concomitant injuries. The patients then received staged regular rehabilitation programs under a hand therapists' supervision for 14 weeks. Active range of motion (ROM) of injured digits, Visual Analog Scale score for pain, and return-to-work status were recorded to evaluate functional outcomes.

A total of 10 patients were included. All were male patients and aged 8 to 66 years. The most common injury mechanism was motor vehicle accident (70%). Erastin2 The locations of fractures were 1 at the metacarpal head and 9 at the proximal phalangeal bases. Half of the fractures were open. Concomitant injuries were 1 digital nerve severance, 1 extensor tendon rupture, and 3 dorsal skin avulsions. There were no postoperative complications. The active ROM of the MPJ ranged from 40° to 90° with a median ROM of 80°. The Visual Analog Scale score for pain was 0 in 8 patients and 1 in the other 2 patients. All patients returned to their original workplace after rehabilitation.

Dynamic traction splints and postoperative rehabilitation programs could be an alternative treatment for comminuted intraarticular fracture of the MPJ.

Four hundred and ninety-nine patients had burn injuries in an explosion in Taiwan on June 27, 2015, 24 were admitted to the intensive care units of Taipei Veterans General Hospital. This study details our experience with surgical management of these patients, focusing primarily on various skin graft techniques.

This single-center retrospective study included patients who underwent at least one of the previously mentioned skin graft techniques because of extensive skin defects. The demography, burn diagram, treatment modalities, postoperative outcome, and costs were all analyzed, and a comparison with traditional mesh skin grafts was performed. The literature was also reviewed.

Fourteen patients underwent the Meek skin graft technique. Only 3 received ReCell and 1 cultured epithelial autograft (CEA) at separate time point. Overall, the autologous skin grafts, including Meek/ReCell/CEA were completed within 6 months. The average skin graft success rate was approximately 72.9%, 79.2%, and 38% in Meek, ReCe considered when assessing treatment options.
Preserving both esthetic and functional outcome remains challenging in facial burn injuries. The major issue is the initial treatment of injury. In this study, we focused on patients with partial-thickness facial burns admitted to the burn unit of Tri-Service General Hospital, Taipei, from November 2016 to November 2018. In 21 included patients, customized mask-style, transparent hydrogel-based dressing was applied to the burns. The mean age of included patients was 37.4 years. The mean area of burn injury was 11.9% of total body surface area, and the mean area of second-degree facial burns was 162.3 cm2. Full reepithelialization took, on average, 10.86 days. Scarring was acceptable in terms of texture and color, and no hypertrophic or keloidal scarring was noted. The mean Vancouver Scar Scale score was 2.07. Use of the hydrogel-based dressing masks seems to be a promising means of reducing pain, providing uninterrupted wound healing, facilitating observation, and positively affecting scarring in patients wfecting scarring in patients with second-degree facial burns.
Proper wound care along with the use of skin grafts over deep burn wounds has been the standard treatment. However, the goal in burn wound care has shifted from achieving a satisfactory survival rate to improving long-term form and function of the healed wound, which is sometimes hindered by scar contracture. This has prompted surgeons to find alternative ways to treat burn wounds without compromising function. Among burn cases, hand injuries are the most problematic when it comes to delicate function recovery.

This study presents the results of conjunctive use of a bilayer artificial dermis, negative pressure wound therapy, and split-thickness skin grafts for grafting over acute burn wounds and scar-releasing defects after severe hand burns.

Three months after the operation, the scar was soft and pliable, the aesthetic outcome was good, and the patients gained much improvement in hand function and quality oflife.

The combined technique achieved a good scar quality and aesthetic effect on burned hands as well as excellent functional outcome, which resulted in major improvements and an independent life for the patient.
