Heme proteins are ideal systems to investigate vibrational energy flow at the atomic level. Upon photoexcitation, a large amount of excess vibrational energy is selectively deposited on heme due to extremely fast internal conversion. It is found that energy flow through proteins is analogous to collisional exchange processes in solutions.Eukaryotic chromatin is a complex of genome DNA and associated proteins, and its structure and dynamics play a crucial role in regulating DNA functions. Chromatin takes rather irregular structures in the nucleus and exhibits heterogeneous sub-diffusive movements as polymers fluctuating in a fluid state. Using genome-wide single-nucleosome tracking data, heterogeneity of movements was statistically analyzed, which categorized chromatin into two types slow chromatin that moves under structurally constrained environments and fast chromatin that moves with less constraints. Interactions of chromatin to various protein factors determine the motional constraints. For example, loss of the cohesin complex that bundles the chromatin chains reduces the motional constraints and increases the population of fast chromatin. Another example is the transcriptional machinery. The combined procedure of genome-wide single-nucleosome tracking and its statistical analysis would unveil heterogeneity in the chromatin movement, which should provide a key to understanding the relations among chromatin dynamics, structure, and function.Zygophyllum album is traditionally used against many illnesses, such as liver disease. The present study investigated the bioactive compounds in methanol extract of Z. album (MEZA) using HPLC-DAD-ESI-QTOF-MS/MS and explored its possible antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and hepatoprotective effect. Twelve phenolic compounds were identified; isorhamnetin-3-O-rutinoside being the main one was the main composite (144.6 mg/100 g dm). Results showed that MEZA reduced significantly the biochemical markers (AST, ALT, LDH and ALP), and the hepatic oxidative stress indicators (MDA, PC, SOD, CAT, and GPx) in deltamethrin (DLM)-treated rats. Moreover, MEZA limited the inflammatory responses through downregulation of NF-κB gene, which suppressed the production of proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6). Furthermore, Z. album reduced DLM-induced apoptosis by attenuating caspase 3 and p53 mRNA activation. We seek to contribute to the methodological approaches utilized with adolescents by demonstrating how contextualized data were captured from Tanzanian adolescents' experiences of alcohol and sex, ethods.From fish schools and bird flocks to biofilms and neural networks, collective systems in nature are made up of many mutually influencing individuals that interact locally to produce large-scale coordinated behavior. Although coordination is central to what it means to behave collectively, measures of large-scale coordination in these systems are ad hoc and system specific. The lack of a common quantitative scale makes broad cross-system comparisons difficult. Here we identify a system-independent measure of coordination based on an information-theoretic measure of multivariate dependence and show it can be used in practice to give a new view of even classic, well-studied collective systems. Moreover, we use this measure to derive a novel method for finding the most coordinated components within a system and demonstrate how this can be used in practice to reveal intrasystem organizational structure.
