Highest Tog Rating Duvets and Baby Sleeping Bags
The highest tog rating was designed for winter use for those who require a duvet that will keep you extra-warm. The term tog is short for Thermal Overall Grading and is used to describe the warmth of duvets, baby sleeping bags and other bedding items.
Thick fabrics don't always equal warmth. It depends on what kind of filler is used and how well the fabric insulates.
Extra Warm
When choosing a duvet there are a variety of factors to consider that can be considered, including size and tog ratings, but the most important thing to consider is how warm it needs to be. A higher tog rating typically implies a warmer duvet while a lower tog rating will be cooler. The tog rating doesn't necessarily indicate a heavier blanket, but rather the effectiveness of the quilt in insulation of body heat.
Our highest tog rating at Soak&Sleep was an 18 tog, which is great for cold homes and wintery conditions. It's comprised of two separate duvets joined together with a cufflink fastener, meaning you can regulate how cool or warm your bedding is by switching the duvets on and off as required.
It's important to consider how babies and toddlers regulate their body temperatures. Every person's body temperature is different, and so your child might find a bed with a high tog rating too warm for them. Add a layer of clothing under the sleeping bag to avoid overheating.
If you're a fan of a warm bed then you should consider a summer-weight duvet that has a low tog rating, such as 4.5 tog. This will keep you comfortable, cool and cozy in the warmer months.
A duvet with a breathable fabric is ideal for those who sleep hot. Our breathable range uses cotton which aids thermal regulation and is completely breathable which helps reduce fluctuations in temperature during the night.
A quilt that has an increased tog rating can still be used in the summer, but you'll need to add layers of clothing over it to prevent overheating. A quilt with a low tog rating is also suitable for all seasons, particularly when temperatures are mild. We offer a range of natural and cotton breathable quilts with a range tog ratings, so you can select the right one for you and your loved ones.
Soft & Cosy
This premium duvet and pillowcase set is made from soft brushed Cotton. It is machine washable, and will provide you with an enjoyable night's sleep. It is perfect for any season. You can combine it with other bedding items, including Oxford pillowcases and fitted sheets to create a cohesive appearance.
The tog rating, also known as the thermal overall grade is a popular method to describe the warmth levels of duvets. It is widely used in the UK to help explain how light or warm a duvet can be, with 1 tog being extremely cool and light, and 15 being very warm and thick.
Deciding on the best tog rating for your duvet will depend on several factors, including your environment, personal preferences and the way you sleep. A higher rating for tog is generally warmer but it's important to remember that tog ratings are determined by the capacity of the duvet to trap heat and not its actual thickness. Certain fillings hold heat better than others, so you should read the description before buying a duvet.
When you are buying a winter duvet, you'll want to choose the highest tog rating for example, an 18-tog WinterPlus option. These are designed to keep you warm even in colder climates. These duvets will have baffle box construction, which provides more space to trap warmth and air in the duvet filling. This is believed to be the most effective type of construction. But, it's vital to be sure you are buying a winter weight duvet. A cheaper version might not be as effective and lose their insulation properties as time passes.
Breathable and Lightweight
In winter, a thicker duvet will keep you warm and comfortable all night. Check the tog rating to determine which duvet is best for you. Tog ratings tell you how much heat the quilt will trap, therefore the one with a higher rating will be warmer.
A 13.5 tog is perfect for Winter and will keep you warm on those cold winter nights. average tog duvet is determined by how the duvet was tested in a lab on flat surfaces. It could not be a reflection of how the duvet will feel when draped over you in bed.
At Soak&Sleep, our products are only natural fibres which are breathable and help regulate your temperature. regulate it, which means you don't overheat during the night. This will help you sleep better because it reduces sweating that can cause disturbances. We also only use top quality duvet fillings such as cotton and feather/down which are extremely light and soft.
Babies have a harder time managing their core temperatures than adults, so choosing the right TOG rating for your child's sleeping bag is crucial to ensure they're comfortable and warm enough for safe and healthy sleep. Being too hot for a newborn can be dangerous, as it can increase the chance of SIDS. It's important to select the right baby sleeping bag with an TOG that is less than a duvet for adults.
A TOG rating is used to indicate how warm a duvet is. 1 tog is extremely light and cool. 15 tog is thickest and most warm. Different fillings offer different levels of warmth, therefore it is important to note that even if the rating is low, the quilt could still be warm because of the filling type it's got.
Easy Care
Our duvets are meant to remain warm and soft However, if you wash them often, it could cause them to lose their warmth quickly. That's why our highest tog ratings feature easy-care fabric that won't shrink or stretch after washing to ensure they look and feel like new for as long as they can.
TOG rating is a reference to the thermal insulation properties of a fabric and it can be hard to deduce how warm a material will be by simply touching it. The TOG rating system was created to take into consideration a variety of factors, like the thickness of the fabric and the type of filling.
Babies can be prone to overheating and this is an important risk factor for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Sleep sacks with a TOG rating will keep your baby's temperature at a safe level by changing their blanket. They also assist them to stay away from the dangers of loose bedding such as the risk of suffocation.
A 0.5 TOG sleep sack is ideal for summery climates and warm rooms, and can be worn with a cotton bodysuit. Use a higher TOG sleep bag in colder areas, and remember to layer properly - too many layers can cause overheating.
