Children with autism show more social-communication symptoms and repetitive behaviors than children with typical development or those diagnosed with other developmental disorders; however, non-autistic children often show
behaviors that are associated with autism. We compared the behavioral reports from caregivers of children in these three groups to identify the behaviors that were specific to autism. Children with autism were found to show more of these behaviors, and behaviors that are particularly indicative of autism were identified. see more These behaviors included social symptoms (approaching others to interact, showing things, looking back while showing, responding to an approaching child, spontaneous imitation) and repetitive behavior symptoms (specific, inflexible play, unusual body movements, strong specific interest, carrying around an unusual object, sensory seeking, and sensory hyper-reactivity).These findings may aid professionals in determining the most appropriate diagnosis for a child between tagnosis for a child between the ages of 12 and 36 months.
To describe a modified ab interno technique for the tube implantation from a glaucoma draining device into the ciliary sulcus.

The modified ab interno technique was performed on four eyes of four patients.

After the plate was fixed, a 21G needle is inserted through a paracentesis 180° away from the tube position into the anterior chamber and advanced to the posterior chamber through the sclera; finally, the needle exits the eye, then the tube is inserted into the lumen of the needle. The tube is then inserted simultaneously as the 21G needle is pulled out so the tube is placed on the ciliary sulcus.

We report a simple and novel technique for the tube implantation from a glaucoma draining device into the ciliary sulcus, in which the tube is guided with a 21G needle from an accessory paracentesis in order to achieve a posterior placement of the tube.

Atypical learning and memory in early life can promote atypical behaviors in later life. Specifically, less relational learning and inflexible retrieval in childhood may enhance restricted and repeated behaviors in patients with autism spectrum disorder. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the mechanisms of atypical memory in children with autism spectrum disorder. We conducted picture-name pair learning and delayed-recognition tests with two groups of youths one group with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder children (aged 7-16,
= 41) and one group with typically developing children (
= 82) that matched the first group's age, sex, and full-scale IQ. We examined correlations between successful recognition scores and neural connectivity during resting in the magnetic resonance imaging scanner without thinking about anything. Although both learning and retrieval performances were comparable between the two groups, we observed significantly fewer memory gains in the autism spectrum disorder gum disorder. Context-independent and less relational memory processing may be associated with fewer memory gains in autism spectrum disorder. In other words, autism spectrum disorder youths might benefit from non-relational memory. These atypical memory characteristics in autism spectrum disorder may exaggerate their inflexible behaviors in some situations, or-vice versa-their atypical behaviors may result in rigid and less connected memories.
To explore the effects of myocardin-related transcription factor A (MRTF-A) knockout on mice with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) induced by high-fat diet (HFD).

Normal-fat diet (NFD) or HFD was fed to MRTF-A-knockout (MRTF-A
) and wild-type (WT) mice for 16 weeks. Liver histopathological status was observed using Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE) staining, Oil Red O staining, Sirius Red staining, and Immunohistochemical staining. The mRNA and protein levels in liver tissues were measured through quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blot.

Compared with WT + HFD group, mice in MRTF-A
+ HFD group were decreased in body weight, blood glucose, plasma insulin, liver TG and NAFLD activity score (NAS), with liver function recovery. Besides, compared with HFD-fed WT mice, HFD-fed MRTF-A
mice were improved in hepatic fibrosis, accompanied by decreased collagen content (%) and down-regulated expressions of
, and
. In mice fed with HFD, the expression of MCP-1, CCR2, F4/80 and CD68 declined in liver tissues of MRTF-A
mice as compared with WT mice. Besides, in hepatic macrophages isolated from HFD-fed mice, the observed increased expression of
,
,
, as well as decreased expression of CCR2. Compared with WT + HFD group, MRTF-A
+ HFD group mice were decreased regarding NF-κB p65 in liver tissues.

MRTF-A knockout reduced macrophage infiltration, down-regulated NF-κB p65 expression, and ameliorated inflammation and fibrosis of liver tissues in mice, thereby becoming a potential therapeutic target for NASH treatment.

Currently, transplantation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) in experimental models of SCI shows promise as effective therapies. BMSCs secrete various factors that can regulate the microenvironment, which is called paracrine effect. Among these paracrine substances, exosomes are considered to be the most valuable therapeutic factors. Our study found that BMSCs-derived exosomes therapy attenuated cell apoptosis and inflammation response in the injured spinal cord tissues. In in vitro studies, BMSCs-derived exosomes significantly inhibited lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced PC12 cell apoptosis, reduced the secretion of pro-inflammatory factors including tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and IL (interleukin)-1β and promoted the secretion of anti-inflammatory factors including IL-10 and IL-4. Moreover, we found that LPS-induced protein expression of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) and nuclear transcription factor-κB (NF-κB) was significantly downregulated after treatment with BMSCs-derived exosomes.
