Bacteriophages-based biocontrol is an environmentally friendly and promising strategy to control bacterial plant diseases. In this study, we isolated 72 phages from the various crop cultivated soils in Korea using five different strains of R. solanacearum. Among 72 phages, phage RpY1 was selected for further study based on the specificity of the targeted host. This phage was identified as a member of Podoviridae with a head measuring 60-70 nm in length and short tail according to the morphology of transmission electron microscopy images. The genome size of phage RpY1 is 43,284 bp with G + C content of 61.4% and 53 open reading frames (ORFs), including 18 annotated ORFs and 35 hypothetical proteins. This phage genome showed no homology to the genome of known phages except for the DU_RP_II phage infecting R. solanacearum; however, the host range of phage RpY1 is much narrower than that of DU_RP_II.Extracellular and cell-bound lipase-producing yeasts were isolated from the palm oil mill wastes and investigated for their potential uses as biocatalysts in biodiesel production. Twenty-six yeast strains were qualitatively screened as lipase producers. From those yeast strains, only six were selected and screened further for quantitative lipase production.The phylogenetic affiliations of the yeast strains were confirmed by investigating the D1/D2 domains of 26S rDNA and ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 molecular regions of the six yeast strains selected as potent lipase producers. The three yeast strains A4C, 18B, and 10F showed a close association with Magnusiomyces capitatus. Two yeast strains (17B and AgB) had a close relationship with Saprochaete clavata, whereas the strain AW2 was identified as Magnusiomyces spicifer. Three main catalytic activities of the yeast lipases were evaluated and Magnusiomyces capitatus A4C, among the selected lipase-producing yeasts, had the highest extracellular lipolytic enzyme activity (969 U/L) with the cell-bound lipolytic enzyme activity of 11.3 U/gdm. The maximum cell-bound lipolytic activity (12.4 U/gdm) was observed in the cell-bound lipase fraction produced by Magnusiomyces spicifer AW2 with an extracellular lipolytic enzyme activity of 886 U/L. Based on the specific hydrolytic enzymatic activities, the cell-bound lipases (CBLs) from the three yeast strains M. capitatus A4C, M. spicifer AW2, and Saprochaete clavata 17B were further investigated for biodiesel production. Among them, the CBL from M. spicifer AW2 synthesized the most FAME (fatty acid methyl esters) at 81.2% within 12 h indicating that it has potential for application in enzymatic biodiesel production.Bacteria endophytes are living microorganisms that live inside plant tissues without visible harmful symptoms, providing a mutualistic interaction. In this study, different bacterial endophytic strains were isolated from different plants primed to live in an arid area, namely, the Sahara Desert. Up to 27 of these strains were selected based on their ability to inhibit Botrytis cinerea growth in dual-culture assay and by bacterial volatiles. The results presented in this study show the capacity of most of the bacterial strains to protect Solanum lycopersicum against the pathogenic fungus B. cinerea, under different experimental conditions. Five of these strains induced susceptibility in tomato plants and no callose accumulation upon fungal infection, pointing to callose deposition as a protective mechanism mediated by endophytic bacteria. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between the bacterial strains inducing callose and the level of protection against B. cinerea. On the other hand, hormone production by bacteria does not explain the relationship between protection and the differences between the phenotypic results obtained in vitro and those obtained in plant experiments. Induced resistance is highly specific in the inducer-plant-stress interaction.
Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) is considered one of the most serious adverse events affecting chemotherapy-receiving cancer patients. It dramatically affects their food intake, nutritional status and more importantly their quality of life. We can observe CINV in highly emetogenic chemotherapy (HEC) such as adriamycin-cyclophosphamide combination (AC) in breast cancer patients and cisplatin-based regimens in other cancer types. This study aimed to evaluate the antiemetic efficacy of palonosetron (PALO) over granisetron (GRA) in combination with dexamethasone for multiple highly emetogenic chemotherapy drugs (HEC), especially in chemotherapy regimens in Egyptian breast cancer patients and cisplatin-based regimens in other diseases.

An open-label randomized trial was carried out, including 115 patients receiving at least four cycles of highly emetogenic chemotherapy regimens. All patients received dexamethasone in combination with the 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. We recorded patients' clinicald anthracyclines (AC). This phase 1, open-label, single-arm clinical trial evaluated pharmacokinetics, safety, and biomarker activity of palbociclib-letrozole as first-line treatment for estrogen receptor-positive/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative advanced breast cancer (ABC) in postmenopausal Chinese women to support palbociclib approval in China.

Patients received palbociclib 125mg once daily (3/1 schedule) plus letrozole 2.5mg once daily. Blood samples were collected predose and ≤ 120h after single and multiple doses of palbociclib. The incidence and severity of adverse events were reported. Skin biopsy tissues and blood samples were collected for biomarker assessments.
