We resolve the contradiction between two recent experimental studies [Jara-Toro et al., Angew. Chem. PKR-IN-C16 research buy Int. Ed. 2017, 56, 2166 and Chao et al. Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2019, 131, 1] of the possible catalytic effect of water vapor on CH 3 OH + OH reaction and we extend the rate constant evaluation down to 200 K. The rate constants of the CH 3 OH + OH reaction catalyzed by a water molecule are computed as functions of temperature and relative humidity using high-level electronic structure and kinetics calculations. The Wuhan-Minnesota Scaling (WMS) method is used to provide an accurate energy to benchmark a density functional for direct dynamics. Both high-frequency and low-frequency anharmonicities are included. Variational and tunneling effects are treated by canonical variational transition state theory with multi-dimensional small-curvature tunneling. And, most significantly, we include multi-structural effects in the rate constant calculations. Our calculations show that the catalytic effect of water vapor is not observable at 200-400 K. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The clinical picture ranges from a benign febrile illness through to severe and potentially fatal manifestations. No specific anti-viral treatment exists, and therapy only consists of supportive care. During the last three decades, several attempts to develop an effective vaccine have been made. The first dengue vaccine to obtain licensure was Dengvaxia, which was authorized in 2015 and is currently available in over 20 countries. Its use has been approved with strict limitations regarding age and serostatus of the recipients, highlighting the necessity for a more safe and efficacious vaccine. At present several vaccine, candidates are undergoing clinical and pre-clinical trials. The most advanced candidates are TDV and TDV 003/005, two live-attenuated vaccines, but another 15 vaccines are under development, introducing novel immunization strategies to the traditional dengue vaccine scenario. Therefore, the understanding of the anti-flavivirus humoral immune response is fundamental to future studies on flavivirus pathogenesis and the design of anti-flavivirus therapeutics. This review aims to provide an overview of the current understanding of the function and involvement of flavivirus proteins in the humoral immune response as well as the ability of the anti-envelope (anti-E) antibodies to interfere (neutralizing antibodies) or not (non-neutralizing antibodies) with viral infection, and how they can, in some circumstances enhance dengue virus infection on Fc gamma receptor (FcγR) bearing cells through a mechanism known as antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE). Thus, the dual role of the antibodies against E protein poses a formidable challenge for vaccine development. Also, we discuss the roles of antibody binding stoichiometry (the concentration, affinity, or epitope recognition) in the neutralization of flaviviruses and the "breathing" of flavivirus virions in the humoral immune response. Finally, the relevance of some specific antibodies in the design and improvement of effective vaccines is addressed. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.PHACE syndrome classically presents with a large, segmental facial infantile hemangioma (IH) associated with structural and vascular abnormalities involving the head and neck, heart, and eyes. We evaluated an infant who presented with ptosis caused by a clinically subtle, deep right-sided periorbital IH identified on MRI that also incidentally revealed hypoplasia of the right common carotid and right internal carotid arteries, supporting a diagnosis of PHACE syndrome. She subsequently developed acute-onset, transient right-sided facial erythema without anisocoria, triggered by feeding and emotional stress. We believe this represents a Frey syndrome-like developmental dysautonomia, previously unreported in association with PHACE syndrome, suggesting an associated defect in neurovascular embryogenesis. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.BACKGROUND Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has shown mixed results for depression treatment. OBJECTIVE To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of trials using tDCS to improve depressive symptoms. METHODS A systematic review was performed from the first date available to January 06, 2020 in PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and additional sources. We included randomized, sham-controlled clinical trials (RCTs) enrolling participants with an acute depressive episode and compared the efficacy of active versus sham tDCS, including association with other interventions. The primary outcome was the Hedges' g for continuous depression scores; secondary outcomes included odds ratios (ORs) and number needed to treat (NNT) for response, remission, and acceptability. Random effects models were employed. Sources of heterogeneity were explored via metaregression, sensitivity analyses, subgroup analyses, and bias assessment. RESULTS We included 23 RCTs (25 datasets, 1,092 participants), most (57%) presenting a low risk of bias. Active tDCS was superior to sham regarding endpoint depression scores (k = 25, g = 0.46, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.22-0.70), and also achieved superior response (k = 18, 33.3% vs. 16.56%, OR = 2.28 [1.52-3.42], NNT = 6) and remission (k = 18, 19.12% vs. 9.78%, OR = 2.12 [1.42-3.16], NNT = 10.7) rates. Moreover, active tDCS was as acceptable as sham. No risk of publication bias was identified. Cumulative meta-analysis showed that effect sizes are basically unchanged since total sample reached 439 participants. CONCLUSIONS TDCS is modestly effective in treating depressive episodes. Further well-designed, large-scale RCTs are warranted. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.BACKGROUND The incidence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) along with depression is high in the elderly. In the present study, a program that allows the elderly individuals to voluntarily manage and develop lifestyles that may reduce the risk factors for cognitive decline was applied to the participants to evaluate its effect on the mental health of these individuals. METHODS The participants were randomly assigned to an intervention group and a control group. The program was conducted during 7 months in the intervention group, and it had seven times of group activities, performed once a month for about 1 h, and individual activities to reduce the risk factors for cognitive decline, performed every day. To evaluate the effects of the program on the mental health of the participants, the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) and Philadelphia Geriatric Center Morale Scale (PGC) were used. These two scales were applied twice to the intervention and control groups. RESULTS The GDS score revealed no change in the score in the intervention group before and after the 7-month program implementation; however, in the control group, the score was significantly higher after program implementation than that before.
