In a logistic regression analysis lower CAMS-R Attention scores predicted CHS (β = -0.34, p = 0.03). This is the first, yet preliminary investigation on CHS during quarantine. The prevalence of CHS appears higher than the rates (4%) reported in the last years before the COVID-19 outbreak. Perhaps people showed more intense hoarding tendencies during quarantine/social distancing, and this pattern should be monitored. Larger samples, longitudinal designs and clinician-rated instruments are needed to support or not our findings.Chinese emergency department (ED) staff encountered significant mental stress while fighting the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. We sought to investigate the prevalence and associated factors for depressive symptoms among ED staff (including physicians, nurses, allied health, and auxiliary ED staff). A cross-sectional national survey of ED staff who were on duty and participated in combating the COVID-19 pandemic was conducted March 1-15, 2020. A total of 6,588 emergency medical personnel from 1,060 hospitals responded to this survey. A majority of respondents scored above 10 points on the PHQ-9 standardized test, which is associated with depressive symptoms. Those aged 31-45, those working in the COVID-19 isolation unit, and those with relatives ≤ 16 or ≥70 years old at home all had statistically significant associations with scoring >10 points. Depressive symptoms among Chinese emergency medical staff were likely quite common during the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and reinforce the importance of targeted ED staff support during future outbreaks. In this study, we aimed to explore the role of lncRNAs in post-resuscitation myocardial dysfunction in a rat model of CA-CPR. A rat model of CA-CPR was constructed using a VF method. Myocardial functions, including cardiac output (CO), ejection fraction (EF), and myocardial performance index (MPI), were evaluated at the baseline, and 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 h after resuscitation. A high throughput sequencing method was used to screen the differentially expressed lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNAs, which were further analyzed with bioinformatics. In addition, relationships between the molecules involved in the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway were explored with ceRNA network. Compared with the sham group, EF was significantly reduced and MPI was increased at the five consecutive time points in the CA-CPR group. 68 lncRNAs were upregulated and 40 lncRNAs were downregulated in the CA-CPR group, while 30 miRNAs were downregulated and 19 miRNAs were upregulated. Moreover, mRNAs were also differentially expressed, with 676 upregulated and 588 downregulated. GO analysis suggested that genes associated with cell proliferation, cell death and programmed cell death were significantly enriched. KEGG analysis showed that the PI3K/Akt, MAPK and Ras signaling pathways were the three most-enriched pathways. Construction of a ceRNA regulatory network indicated that LOC102549506, LOC103689920, and LOC103690137 might play important roles in the regulation of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway in the CA-CPR treated rat. PTZ Taken together, LncRNAs, including LOC102549506, LOC103689920 and LOC103690137, might participate in post-resuscitation myocardial dysfunction by functioning as ceRNAs and regulating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. This study investigated lipid metabolism in broilers with spontaneous femoral head necrosis (FHN) by determining the levels of markers of the blood biochemistry and bone metabolism. The birds were divided into a normal group and FHN group according to the femoral head scores of 3-, 4-, and 5-week-old chickens with FHN, and a comparative study was conducted. The study showed that spontaneous FHN broilers had a lipid metabolism disorder, hyperlipidemia, and an accumulation of lipid droplets in the femur. In addition, there were significant changes in the bone parameters and blood bone biochemistry markers, and the expression of genes related to lipid metabolism in the femoral head was also significantly increased. Therefore, FHN may result from dyslipidemia, which affects the bone growth and development of broilers.Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (RAC1) activation plays a vital role in diabetic nephropathy (DN), but the exact mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we attempted to elucidate the precise mechanism of how RAC1 aggravates DN through cellular and animal experiments. In this study, DN was induced in mice by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ, 150mg/kg), and the RAC1 inhibitor NSC23766 was administered by tail vein injection. Biochemical indicators, cell proliferation and apoptosis, and morphological changes in the kidney were detected. The expression of phosphorylated c-Jun N-terminal kinase (p-JNK), nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), and cleaved caspase-3 and the interaction between RAC1 and the mixed lineage kinase 3 (MLK3)-mitogen-activated protein kinase 7 (MKK7)-JNK signaling module were determined. Furthermore, the colocalization and direct co-interaction of RAC1 and MLK3 were confirmed. Our results showed that RAC1 accelerates renal damage and increases the expression of p-JNK, NF-κB, and cleaved caspase-3. However, inhibition of RAC1 ameliorated DN by downregulating p-JNK, NF-κB, and cleaved caspase-3. Also, RAC1 promoted the assembly of MLK3-MKK7-JNK, and NSC23766 blocked the interaction between RAC1 and MLK3-MKK7-JNK and inhibited the assembly of the MLK3-MKK7-JNK signaling module. Furthermore, RAC1 was combined with MLK3 directly, but the RAC1 Y40C mutant inhibited the interaction between RAC1 and MLK3. We demonstrated that RAC1 combining with MLK3 activates the MLK3-MKK7-JNK signaling module, accelerating DN occurrence and development, and RAC1 Y40 is an important site for binding of RAC1 to MLK3. This study illustrates the cellular and molecular mechanisms of how RAC1 accelerates DN and provides evidence of DN-targeted therapy.Digestive enzyme activity is involved in the regulation of growth performance because digestive enzymes function to improve the feed efficiency by digestion and in turn to modulate the process of nutrient metabolism. The objective of this study was to investigate the differences of the digestive enzyme activities and expression of nutrient transporters in the intestinal tract between Jinhua and Landrace pigs and to explore the potential breed-specificity in digestion and absorption. The pancreas segments and the digesta and mucosa of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum were collected from 10 Jinhua pigs and Landrace pigs, respectively. The activities of trypsin, chymotrypsin, amylase, maltase, sucrase, and lipase were measured and the expression levels of PepT1, GLUT2, SGLT1, FABP1, FABP2, and FABP4 were examined. Results showed that the trypsin activity in the pancreas of Jinhua pigs was higher than that in Landrace pigs, but was lower in the small intestine, except for in the jejunal mucosa. The chymotrypsin activity in the small intestine of Jinhua pigs was higher than that in Landrace pigs, except for in jejunal mucosa and contents.
