Increased cholesterol level is a predisposing factor for TB. M. TB uses cholesterol in the host macrophage membranes to bind and enter the macrophages. Statins are the drugs that are prescribed to hyperlipidemic patients to maintain their lipid levels in the normal range, thereby reducing the risk of stroke and cardiovascular events. Moreover, statins aid in reducing the levels of cholesterol in human macrophages. Therefore, a reduction in the membrane cholesterol minimizes the entry of TB pathogen inside macrophages. Furthermore, acting as vitamin D3 analogs and positively influencing pancreatic beta-cell function in a chronic diabetic state, statins minimize the occurrence of M. TB infection among diabetic population as well. This review aims to provide a comprehensive detail of all in vitro, in vivo, and retrospective studies that investigated the effects of statins in relation to the prevention or treatment of TB infection. Allergic rhinitis is the most common form of chronic rhinitis characterized by one or more symptoms including sneezing, nasal itching, nasal congestion, postnasal drip, and rhinorrhea. Montelukast is an antagonist to the leukotriene receptor. It is non-sedating, dosed once daily, and has a safety profile similar in adults and children, with approval down to six months of age. The purpose of the study was to see the improvement in the severity of symptoms of the patients with allergic rhinitis treated with montelukast. Methods The symptom severity score for allergic rhinitis was calculated by asking the patient to evaluate the severity of individual symptoms (sneezing, nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, and postnasal drip) against the 4-point scoring scale over the last 24 hours. After explaining the scoring system to the patient, a proforma was filled before starting the treatment. A telescopic denture can be an excellent treatment alternative. In this case, the patient requested an aesthetic maxillary denture with no visible metal clasps when smiling. Hence, two telescopic crowns were placed on the anterior abutment teeth serving as the retentive components of the maxillary cobalt-chromium removable partial denture. Additional retention was obtained from the posterior abutment teeth. The patient was satisfied with the final restored occlusion and appearance. Most cases are benign and self-limiting; however, when enough air is forced into the subcutaneous tissues allowing the air to spread into the neck, tracheal compression and respiratory distress can occur. Tube thoracotomy and endotracheal intubation are generally sufficient to overcome this respiratory compromise. However, occasionally other invasive measures are required to allow the air leak to resolve. Traditionally, this would involve placement of an incision or two into the anterior chest wall to allow decompression to the outside environment. Limited evidence exists regarding negative pressure wound therapy devices being used successfully with open incisions for the management of massive subcutaneous emphysema. We present the initial case of successful use of a loosely closed incision negative pressure therapy for massive subcutaneous emphysema.
