Rap adalah salah satu dari empat elemen budaya Hip-hop . Rap merupakan teknik vokal yang berkata-kata dengan cepat, sementara pelakunya disebut rapper. Rapp-ing juga seringkali disebut MC ( Master of Ceremony. )
Ada beberapa jenis rap, namun jenis Rap disini lebih pada komunitas atau jenis musik. Karna jika dalam segi vocal, pembawaannya semua dengan teknik yang sama.
1. Gangsta Rapp
Lebih seringkali disebut dengan Rapp Gangster. Ini dimaksudkan untuk para pelaku Rapp jalanan / gangster yang seringkali membuat ulah.
2. Jamaica Rapp
Sebenarnya tidak diketahui dengan pasti apa nama sebutan asli untuk jenis yang satu ini. Karna disini yang membedakan hanyalah pembawaan Rapp yang lebih kental dengan aksen Jamaicanya. Wyclef Jean merupakan salah satu Rapper yang terkenal untuk jenis ini.
3. Party Rapp
Untuk jenis rapp yang satu ini, yang membedakan hanyalah jenis lirik atau pembawaannya saja. Karna di dalam jenis ini, biasanya para pelaku Rapp membawakan lirik Rapp yang lebih senang atau menjurus kearah party.
Sebenarnya ada satu lagi, yaitu jenis G-Funk. Tetapi untuk jenis ini tak ada deskripsi pasti, karna pembawaannya sama dengan khas Rapp asli yang menjurus ke Hip Hop Style.
