This cross-sectional study sought to determine the neck-shoulder stiffness/low back pain (NSS/LBP) comorbidity rate in a Japanese community population and to compare the quality of life (QOL) in individuals with comorbid NSS/LBP, asymptomatic individuals, and those with symptoms of NSS or LBP alone.

The sample included 1122 subjects (426 men; 696 women) with NSS and LBP symptoms in the previous 3 months, and were grouped according to NSS, LBP, comorbid NSS and LBP symptoms (Comorbid), or no symptoms (NP). They completed the MOS 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36). Health QOL was evaluated by the eight domain scores and the Physical Component Summary (PCS) and Mental Component Summary (MCS) scores after adjusting for age. The primary outcome was to examine the association between NSS/LBP, NSS, or LBP and bodily pain of the eight domains of SF-36. Secondary outcome was to compare health-related QOL among the four groups.

Morbidity was 45.6% for NSS and 51.9% for LBP. Comorbidity affected 23% of men ae without symptoms or with NSS alone.

In this study, we examined the GAP43 status with qRT-PCR and bisulfite genomic sequencing in colorectal cancer (CRC). We investigated the effect of overexpressed GAP43 in CRC cells with RNA-seq. The RNA-seq data was analyzed with DAVID and IPA.

GAP43 was downregulated in CRC compared to the adjacent tissues. DNA methylase inhibitor 5-Aza-CdR treatment could significantly induce GAP43, indicated that the silencing of GAP43 gene in CRC is closely related to DNA methylation. Bisulfite genomic sequencing confirmed the promoter methylation of GAP43 in CRC. To explore the transcriptional alterations by overexpressed GAP43 in CRC, we performed RNA-seq and found that upregulated genes were significantly enriched in the signaling pathways of ABC transporters and ECM-receptor interaction, while downregulated genes were significantly enriched in Ribosome signaling pathway. Further Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) showed that EIF2 signaling pathway was significantly repressed by overexpression of GAP43.

In Ethiopia, child undernutrition and anemia are major public health concerns, resulting in increased childhood morbidity and mortality. Despite progress made to reduce the prevalence of malnutrition (especially stunting) from 50% in 2000 to 38% in 2016, little is known about the magnitude and risk factors for concurrent nutritional deficiencies in Ethiopia.

Analysis for this study was based on a total sample of 9218 children aged 6-59months drawn from the Ethiopian Demographic and Health Survey (EDHS) conducted in the year 2016. The study used two outcome variables Multiple nutrition deficit index formed by combining stunting, underweight, wasting and anemia status; and a concurrent stunting and anemia (CAS) index. Two mixed effect regression models, Poisson and Logistic, were used to identify the key risk factors of the two outcome variables, respectively.

The proportion of children with stunting (length-for-age), underweight (weight-for-age) and wasting children (weight-for-length) was 38%, 25.2% andons, promoting feeding practice and child health service utilization. Based on social comparison theory, two experiments were conducted to explore the effects of depression and social comparison on adolescents, using the ultimatum game (UG).

Before the formal experiment began, a preliminary experiment tested the effectiveness of social comparison settings. This study used the UG paradigm to explore adolescents' social decision-making in the context of gain and loss through two experiments. These experiments were designed as a 2 (group depressive mood group, normal mood group) × 2 (social comparison upward, downward) × 3 (fairness level fair 55, unfair 37, extremely unfair 19) three-factor hybrid study.

(1) The fairer the proposal was, the higher the sense of fairness participants felt, and the higher their acceptance rate. (2) The acceptance rate of the participants for downward social comparison was significantly higher than that for upward social comparison, but there was no difference in fairness perception between the two social comparisons. (3) Under the context of gain, the acceptance rate of the depressive mood group was higher than that of the normal mood group, but there was no difference in the acceptance rate between the depressive mood group and the normal mood group under the loss context.
