Melasma severity and skin health were evaluated at 4 visits for each participant (baseline, weeks 4, 8, and 12, respectively).
Severity of melasma scored by mMASI of the synbiotics group was 7.54±0.79, 7.36±0.80, 7.16±0.73, and 6.98±0.72 at baseline, weeks 4, 8, and 12, respectively, and 7.51±0.86, 7.52±0.88, 7.54±0.86, and 7.54±0.89 at baseline, weeks 4, 8, and 12, respectively, in the placebo group. Comparing between two groups at week 12, melasma score in the synbiotics supplement group was significantly lower than that in the placebo group (P=.008).
Oral synbiotics supplementation for 12weeks improved the severity of melasma score.

The optimal extent of surgery and/or radiation to the contralateral lymph node region is unknown in early-stage human papillomavirus (HPV)-related oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC).
To investigate the pathologic incidence of and risk factors for contralateral nodal disease (CND) in cT1-T2 HPV-related OPSCC treated with transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and bilateral neck dissection (BND), the records of 120 patients were reviewed.
Eleven patients displayed pathologic contralateral nodal disease (pCND), including 7.1% of tonsil and 10.9% of base of tongue (BOT) cases. Medial hemistructure involvement and cN2 disease were significantly associated with pCND. Zero cN0 patients had pCND, and on multivariate analysis only cN classification remained significantly associated with pCND. buy Bucladesine Four percent of BOT patients and 2% of tonsil patients with a well-lateralized primary and cN0/N1 neck demonstrated pCND.
HPV-related OPSCC that are cN0-N1 have exceedingly low rates of pCND. Well-lateralized HPV-related BOT primaries with limited clinical nodal disease may be candidates for ipsilateral only treatment.

Under 13 CO2 , H2 , and UV/Vis light, 13 CH4 was formed at a rate of 0.98 mmol h-1 gcat-1 using Ni (10 wt %)-ZrO2 that was effective at 96 kPa. Under UV/Vis light irradiation, the 13 CO2 exchange reaction and FTIR identified physisorbed/chemisorbed bicarbonate and the reduction because of charge separation in/on ZrO2 , followed by the transfer of formate and CO onto the Ni surface. EXAFS confirmed exclusive presence of Ni0 sites. Then, FTIR spectroscopy detected methyl species on Ni0 , which was reversibly heated to 394 K owing to the heat converted from light. With D2 O and H2 , the H/D ratio in the formed methane agreed with reactant H/D ratio. This study paves the way for using first row transition metals for solar fuel generation using only UV/Vis light.
To report outcomes and toxicity in patients who received definitive concurrent chemoradiation (DCCRT) for non-operable esophageal cancer (EC) in the modern era, and to identify markers of overall and disease-free survival (OS/DFS).
We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients with unresectable EC who received DCCRT at our institution between 1/2008 and 1/2019. Descriptive statistics were used to report disease-control outcomes and CTCAE v4.0-5.0 toxicities. Univariable and multivariable Cox regression, and stepwise regression were used to identify associations with survival.
At a median follow-up of 19.5months, 130 patients with adenocarcinoma (AC) (62%) or squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) (38%) were evaluable (Stage II-III 92%). Patients received carboplatin/paclitaxel (75%) or fluorouracil-based (25%) concurrent chemotherapy. Median total RT dose was 50.4Gy (range, 44.7-71.4Gy) delivered in 28 fractions (24-35). Locoregional and distant recurrence occurred in 30% and 35% of AC, and 24% and 33% of SCC, respectively. Median OS and DFS were 22.9 and 10.7months in AC, and 25.7 and 20.2months in SCC, respectively. On stepwise regression, tumor stage, feeding tube during DCCRT, and change in primary tumor PET/CT SUVmax were significantly associated with OS and DFS. Most severe toxicities were acute grade 4 hematologic cytopenia (6%) and radiation dermatitis (1%). Most common acute grade 3 toxicities were hematologic cytopenia (35%), dysphagia (23%), and anorexia (19%).
Treatment of non-operable EC with DCCRT has acceptable toxicity and can provide multi-year disease control for some patients, even in AC. Continued follow-up and investigation in large studies would be useful.

IA mouse model was established by stereotactic injection of elastase to evaluate the effect of BP-1-102. The expression levels of smooth muscle markers and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) were detected by qRT-PCR, and the levels of inflammatory factors were detected by ELISA and qRT-PCR. The protein levels of the NF-κB signaling pathway factors were examined by Western blot. BP-1-102 reduced blood pressure in aneurysm mice, up-regulated smooth muscle cell markers MHC, SMA, and SM22, and down-regulated the expression of MMP2 and MMP9 in vascular tissues. At the same time, BP-1-102 also down-regulated the expression levels of inflammatory response factors and the NF-κB pathway proteins. In the IA model, BP-1-102 can reduce the expression of inflammatory factors and MMPs bound to NF-κB by inhibiting the activation of the JAK/STAT3/NF-κB pathway proteins, and then restore the vascular wall elastin to reduce blood pressure, thereby treating aneurysm.
