Due to increasing anthropogenic activities, it has faced a significant reduction in distribution range since the late 1800s and has even gone extinct from most of the early localities. The investigation of complete mitogenome holds significant relevance for identifying evolutionary relationships and monitoring the endangered species. Herein, we report and characterize for the first time the 16,319 bp complete mitochondrial genome of P. g. gangetica. It comprises 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and one control region (CR). The genome composition was A + T biased (59.6%) and exhibited a positive AT-skew (0.104) and negative GC-skew (- 0.384). All the genes were encoded on the heavy strand, except eight tRNAs and the ND6 gene. In the CR, an 18 bp tandem repeat sequence was observed. Our Bayesian Inference (BI) and Maximum Likelihood (ML) based phylogenetic analysis indicated that studied river dolphins were polyphyletic and the placement of Platanista was to be more basal than other river dolphins (Lipotes, Inia and Pontoporia). The pairwise genetic distance of Platanista with other cetaceans was varied, with an overall close affinity with whales. The model-based BI and ML phylogenetic analysis indicated that Platanista clustering with Ziphiidae with high to moderate supportive values (PP/BP = 98/68). check details The results of this study provide insights important for the conservation genetics and further evolutionary studies of the freshwater river dolphins.
Discrete choice experiments (DCEs) have been used to measure patient and healthcare professionals preferences in a range of settings internationally. Using DCEs in primary care is valuable for determining how to improve rational shared decision making. The purpose of this systematic review is to assess the validity of the methods used for DCEs assessing the decision making of healthcare professionals in primary care.

A systematic search was conducted to identify articles with original data from a discrete choice experiment where the population was primary healthcare professionals. All publication dates from database inception to 29th February 2020 were included. A data extraction and validity assessment template based on guidelines was used. After screening, 34 studies met the eligibility criteria and were included in the systematic review. The sample sizes of the DCEs ranged from 10 to 3727. The published DCEs often provided insufficient detail about the process of determining the attributes and levels. The majority of the studies did not involve primary care healthcare professionals outside of the research team in attribute identification and selection. Less than 80% of the DCEs were piloted and few papers investigated internal or external validity.

For findings to translate into improvements in rational shared decision making in primary care DCEs need to be internally and externally valid and the findings need to be able to be communicated to stakeholders in a way that is understandable and relevant.

The trans-catheter closure of atrial septal defect (ASD) usually has a rapid impact on biventricular remodelling and functions. Whether the transcatheter closure of ASD at early childhood or at adulthood age would affect the improvement in biventricular dimensions and functions remains an area of active research.

This prospective observational study enrolled 70 subjects (50 ASD cases and 20 control subjects). Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) and strain (S) were performed for the control group and ASD patients at baseline and at 24 h and 1 month after ASD device closure. The total ASD group was subdivided into two subgroups group-1-children and adolescent with ASD, who underwent transcatheter closure at age ≤ 19 years; group-2-adult who underwent ASD device closure at age > 19 years old. The right and left ventricular global longitudinal systolic strain (RV/LV-GLS) and RV free wall longitudinal strain (RV free wall LS) showed a significant decline after 24 h of device closure (RVGLS-P = 0.001, LVGLS-P = 0.0 function after transcatheter ASD closure. The older age at the time of ASD device closure was associated with a significant decrease in the RV free wall LS and septal e' velocity towards abnormality.
The ASD transcatheter closure reduced biventricular global and RV free wall longitudinal systolic strain within 1 day of intervention and was associated with a short-term improvement in the LV-GLSS after a 1-month duration. The progressive increase in LV preload results in its strain growth and reduction in diastolic function after transcatheter ASD closure. The older age at the time of ASD device closure was associated with a significant decrease in the RV free wall LS and septal e' velocity towards abnormality.
The Diabetes Injection Device Preference Questionnaire (DID-PQ) was designed to assess patient preference between two non-insulin injection devices. In a recent crossover study, people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) completed the DID-PQ after performing mock injections with two non-insulin injection devices. The purpose of the current analysis was to use these data to assess construct validity of the DID-PQ and demonstrate one way to test whether there is a significant preference for one injection device over another.

Data were from an open-label, multicenter, randomized, crossover study assessing preference between the dulaglutide and semaglutide injection pens. In addition to the 10-item DID-PQ, people with T2D completed a global item assessing overall preference. DID-PQ responses were compared to the global preference item (percent agreement, Gwet's AC1, prevalence-adjusted and bias-adjusted Kappa [PABAK]). For each item of the DID-PQ, a two-sided binomial test assessed whether the difference in preference was statistically significant.
