Using the design thinking steps, we identified, developed and tested the type and nature of a unique song which residents of a gated community needed in their journey through COVID-19 lockdowns and government restrictions. The design thinking model provided clear steps for engaging residents to develop an anti-COVID-19 song of hope to cope with the physical, sociopolitical, psychological and spiritual trauma caused by the pandemic.
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a category of tumors with high incidence in head-and-neck (H&N) body region, and the diagnosis and treatment planning are usually conducted by radiologists manually, which is tedious, time-consuming and unrepeatable. In this paper, we integrated different stages of this process and proposed a computer-aided framework to realize automatic detection, tumor region and sub-region segmentation, and visualization of NPC, which are usually investigated separately in literatures.

Multi-modality images are utilized in the framework. Firstly, NPC is detected by a convolutional neural network (CNN) on computed tomography (CT) scans. Then, NPC area is segmented from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images by using a multi-modality MRI fusion network. Thirdly, NPC sub-regions with different metabolic activities are divided on CT images of the same patient via an adaptive threshold algorithm. Finally, 3D surface model of NPC is generated for observing its shape, size, and location emarkable performance indicated the potential of our framework in alleviating workload of radiologist. Furthermore, the combined usage of multi-modality images is able to generate reliable segmentations of NPC area and sub-regions, which provide evidence to judge the heterogeneity among patients and guide the dose painting for radiation therapy.The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the validity of scores on the Eating Concerns (EAT) scale on the recently released Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-3 (MMPI-3), which aims to assess for problematic eating behaviours. It was hypothesised that the EAT scale scores would be correlated with binge eating, purging, restrictive eating, weight and body shape concerns. Participants were 396 university students, who completed a series of well-validated eating disorder measures. The EAT scale scores evidenced moderate to large correlations with many symptom dimensions of EDs, including binge eating, purging, restrictive eating and weight and shape concern, thus, supporting the hypotheses and showing evidence for criterion validity. Hierarchical regression analyses also revealed incremental validity for the EAT scale above and beyond other MMPI-3 Specific Problems scale scores. However, CD remains underdiagnosed and poorly understood. Here, we discuss current findings in patients and in animal models. Strong evidence suggests that CD pathogenesis involves known mechanisms of tissue injury in SLE. These mechanisms recruit brain resident cells, in particular microglia, into the pathological process. While systemic immune activation is critical to central nervous system injury, the current focus of therapy is the microglial cell and not the systemic immune perturbation. D-Allulose, the C-3 epimer of D-fructose, is a representative rare sugar. It displays high sweetness and excellent physiological functions, but only provides a caloric value of 0.4 kcal/g. D-Allulose 3-epimerase (DAEase) is indispensable in D-allulose production. In this study, a putative DAEase from Thermoclostridium caenicola was identified and characterized. The novel T. caenicola DAEase displayed maximum activity at pH 7.5 and 65 °C in the presence of 1 mM Co2+. The half-life (t1/2) at 50 °C was 13.6 h, and the melting temperature (Tm) was 62.4 °C. It was strictly metal-dependent, and the addition of Co2+ remarkably enhanced its thermostability, with a 5.4-fold increase in t1/2 value at 55 °C and 4.8 °C increase in Tm. ML349 Furthermore, DAEase displayed high relative activity (89.0%) at a weakly acidic pH 6.5 and produced 139.8 g/L D-allulose from 500 g/L D-fructose, achieving a conversion ratio of 28.0%. These findings suggest that T. caenicola DAEase is a promising biocatalyst for the production of D-allulose.
In economic evaluations, quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) can serve as a unit of measurement for disease burden. Obtaining QALY values for COVID-19 presents a challenge owing to the availability of two US EQ-5D-5L value sets and the potentially asymptomatic presentation of the disease. The first value set was completed allowing for the discounting of future health outcomes while the second value set is undiscounted.

The objective of this study was to compare the distribution of QALY values using a national survey and the two published value sets; and to estimate the association between COVID-19 outcomes and QALY losses.

Between 9 and 11 November, 2020, 1153 US adults completed the EQ-5D-5L instrument (five items and a visual analog scale) as well as self-reported their demographics, COVID-19 symptoms, and memberships to populations that are at risk of COVID-19 infection. The two US value sets were applied to the EQ-5D-5L responses to produce QALY values. We estimated the mean QALYs by visual analog scale decile and a generalized linear model of COVID-19 outcomes.
