Cognitive interviewing can be applied to develop survey items that capture real-world experiences and perspectives of practicing nurses. This is an essential step in developing nursing interventions that are ready to be implemented and increasing the uptake of evidence-based nursing care. Cognitive interviewing can be used across nursing settings, populations, and interventions to develop understandings of attitudes, attributes, characteristics, and perceptions for a variety of nursing interventions.

Pain and depression are episodic conditions that might take a chronic course. They are clearly related, but information on how they influence each other in the process of chronification is limited. Pain catastrophizing is hypothesized to play a role in the development of depression and chronic pain, but few longitudinal studies have investigated their association over a longer term. In this study, a random cohort from the general population (n = 4764) answered questions about pain, catastrophizing, and depression at 5 assessments in yearly intervals. Linear mixed models showed that within persons, increases in pain intensity and catastrophizing were independently associated with increases in depressive symptoms mean change = -1.12, 95% confidence interval (CI) [-1.32 to -0.91] and -1.29, 95% CI [-1.52 to -1.05], respectively. In prospective analyses restricted to individuals without depression above cutoff at baseline, chronic pain increased the risk of endorsing depression over the following 4 years (oddn on 2 vs 5 assessments compared with none. The results suggest that when pain intensity or catastrophizing change, depressive symptoms change in the same direction. When pain and catastrophizing become chronic, they seem to be mutually reinforcing determinants for chronic depression.
We analyzed the clinical aspects and treatment outcomes of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (SM) keratitis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) keratitis.

Medical records of 55 inpatients with culture-proven SM (n=21) and PA (n=34) keratitis were retrospectively reviewed. Predisposing factors, clinical characteristics, and treatment outcomes were compared between the SM and PA groups.

The mean symptom duration was longer in the SM group than in the PA group (10.44.3 days; P=0.012). The most common predisposing factor was corneal trauma (47.6%) in the SM group and contact-lens wear (38.2%) in the PA group. There were no differences in the mean epithelial defect size (12.711.9 mm2; P=0.861), hypopyon (33.3%44.1%; P=0.428), surgical treatment (4.8%14.7%; P=0.390), or poor clinical outcomes (26.8%30.3%; P=0.760) between the SM and PA groups. In multivariate logistic regression, risk factors for poor clinical outcomes were hypopyon (odds ratio [OR], 52.00; P=0.010) in the SM group and symptom duration≥7 days (OR, 44.32; P=0.015), age≥60 years (OR, 21.13; P=0.019), and hypopyon (OR, 15.20; P=0.038) in the PA group.

Compared with PA keratitis, SM keratitis had slower progression, and its clinical characteristics and treatment results were not worse. In both groups, hypopyon was the risk factor for a poor clinical outcome.

To report an outcome of a patient with complete ankyloblepharon successfully managed with simple oral mucosal epithelial transplantation (SOMET).

A 55-year-old woman presented with complete adhesion of both lids to the ocular surface as a complication from Stevens-Johnson syndrome. We performed 2-staged reconstructive surgeries the first stage was to perform ankyloblepharon lysis and surface reconstruction with a mucosal graft on the palpebral area and an amniotic membrane on the bulbar area, and the second stage was to reconstruct the bulbar area with a transplantation of small pieces of oral mucosa (SOMET technique). Postoperatively, the patient was evaluated for ocular surface stability, recurrent symblepharon, in vivo confocal microscopy, and impression cytology with immunofluorescence staining.

Complete epithelialization of cornea-like epithelium was observed within 6 weeks after SOMET was performed. The ocular surface was stable over 1 year. Both fornices remained deep. In vivo confocal microscopy showed cornea-like epithelium mixed with conjunctival epithelium, as confirmed with immunofluorescence staining, which revealed cytokeratin 3, cytokeratin 7, and cytokeratin 12 positivity.

SOMET is a simple modified technique using minimal oral mucosal tissue to regenerate epithelialization for complicated ocular surface reconstruction such as a complete ankyloblepharon repair. Although there was evidence of conjunctival invasion, stable ocular surface and deep fornices can be achieved for further visual rehabilitative procedure.

To evaluate the clinical performance of lithium disilicate (LiDiSi) computer-aided- design/computer-assisted-manufacturing (CAD/CAM) veneers with feather-edge margins.

Over 4 years (2015-2019), 1075 LiDiSi veneers with feather-edge margins were fabricated with a fully digital workflow and cemented on 105 patients. The outcome variables were survival of the restorations, colour matching, quality of the ceramic surface, presence of marginal discolouration and marginal integrity. The last four variables were assessed using the modified California Dental Association (CDA) and Ryge criteria.

The mean observation period was 30.8 months. The cumulative survival rate was 99.83%. At the last follow-up control, the colour matching of the surviving 1074 restorations was rated Alpha (1064 veneers, 99.06%) and Bravo (10 veneers, 0.94%); the ceramic surface was rated Alpha (1070 veneers, 99.62%) and Bravo (4 veneers, 0.38%); the marginal discolouration was rated Alpha (1069 veneers, 99.53%) and Bravo (5 veneers, 0.47%); and the marginal integrity was rated Alpha (1070 veneers, 99.
