Ketika tidak bergerak wujudnya mirip seperti kayu mati, namun bila kita amati lebih dekat akan tampak kaki-kaki bersirip dan gigi-gigi yang amat tajam. Makhluk ini meluncur dan melata di rawa-rawa. kebanyakan memangsa hewan-hewan mamalia kecil. kaki manusia yang melangkah melewati rawa-rawa itu bisa terluka parah akibat gigitannya. makanan kesukaan dugbog adalah mandrake.
