Dalam Bahasa Yunani: Πήγασος; Pégasos
Pegasus adalah seekor kuda jantan bersayap yang merupakan putra Poseidon dan Medusa dalam mitologi Yunani. Pegasus merupakan makhluk yang wujudnya menggambarkan adanya hubungan antara dewa-dewa dan iblis atau monster di dalam dunia kuno dan dunia klasik.
Pegasus membantu Bellerofon sang pahlawan dalam perlawanannya melawan Chimaera dan bangsa Amazon. Suatu ketika, Bellerofon mencoba menerbangkan pegasus ke Olympus sehingga para dewa menghukumnya dan menjatuhkan Bellerofon dari Pegasus. Sejak saat itu, Pegasus menjadi pembawa petir untuk Zeus. Penyair Hesiod menghubungkan nama Pegasus dengan kata untuk "mata air", pēgē: pegai Okeanos, di mana Okeanos dilahirkan tetapi, asal usul nama pegasus kemungkinan berasal dari kata dari Bahasa Luvian: pihassas, bermakna "petir".
Di manapun pegasus menghentakan kakinya ke bumi, munculah sumber mata air. Salah satunya adalah di Gunung Helikon, yang disebut Hippokrene ("mata air kuda") dan Poseidon memerintahkan gunung tersebut agar tidak membengkak dengan nyanyian Musai; sementara mata air lainnya ada di Troezen. Hesiod menggambarkan bahwa Pegasus sedang minum dengan tenang di salah satu mata air ketika Bellerofon menangkapnya. Hesiod juga menyebutkan bahwa Pegasus membawakan petir Zeus.
