3D multi-echo gradient-recalled echo (ME-GRE) can simultaneously generate time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (pTOF) in addition to T2*-based susceptibility-weighted images (SWI). We assessed the clinical performance of pTOF generated from a 3D ME-GRE acquisition compared with conventional TOF-MRA (cTOF).
Eighty consecutive children were retrospectively identified who obtained 3D ME-GRE alongside cTOF. Two blinded readers independently assessed pTOF derived from 3D ME-GRE and compared them with cTOF. A 5-point Likert scale was used to rank lesion conspicuity and to assess for diagnostic confidence.
Across 80 pediatric neurovascular pathologies, a similar number of lesions were reported on pTOF and cTOF (43-40%, respectively, p > 0.05). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/SB-203580.html Rating of lesion conspicuity was higher with cTOF (4.5 ± 1.0) as compared with pTOF (4.0 ± 0.7), but this was not significantly different (p = 0.06). Diagnostic confidence was rated higher with cTOF (4.8 ± 0.5) than that of pTOF (3.7 ± 0.6; p < 0.001). Overall, the inter-rater agreement between two readers for lesion count on pTOF was classified as almost perfect (κ = 0.98, 96% CI 0.8-1.0).
In this study, TOF-MRA simultaneously generated in addition to SWI from 3D MR-GRE can serve as a diagnostic adjunct, particularly for proximal vessel disease and when conventional TOF-MRA images are absent.

The interdisciplinary German guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of internal carotid artery stenosis (ICAS) recommend a multiparametric approach for the sonographic grading of extracranial ICAS. The aim of this study is to evaluate the interrater and intermethod agreement of this elaborated sonographic approach with different angiographic modalities.
Patients with extracranial ICAS were examined twice with colour-coded duplex sonography (CDS) by two experienced vascular neurologists. Each of the ten criteria and the resulting stenotic value were assessed. Grading of ICAS based on the multiparametric ultrasound criteria was compared with different angiography modalities (magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), computed tomography angiography (CTA), digital subtraction angiography (DSA)).
Seventy-four consecutive patients with 91 extracranial ICAS were recruited from our stroke unit and neurovascular outpatient clinic. Interrater agreement for each single ultrasound criterion ranged from moderate to for the follow up of extracranial ICAS even when examinations are done by different sonographers. In children, arterial alterations occur with increased intima-media thickness as well as vascular diameter enlargement. Both conditions correlate with higher cardiovascular risk in adults, and both the array and proportion of these alterations are important hemodynamic parameters. In terms of functional adaptation processes, they influence several arterial wall properties as for example the shear and tensile stress of the vessel. There are no reference values for the vascular diameter and intima-media thickness/diameter ratio of the carotid artery in children. Therefore, this study aimed to assess vascular diameter, intima-media thickness/diameter ratio and related tensile stress values in children and to further investigate the influence of sex, age, body mass index, and blood pressure. The parameters were measured with high-resolution semi-automated ultrasound. Sex- and age-dependent values were calculated with the LMS method for a cross-sectional sample of 642 healthy, non-obese children aged 8-17 years. Tss allowing a more differentiated view of cardiovascular adaptations as it combines structural and functional vascular parameters. What is known • Intima-media thickness and vascular diameter are related to a higher cardiovascular risk in adults • The intima-media thickness/diameter ratio gives information about hemodynamic and functional vessel adaptation What is new • Values for vascular diameter, intima-media thickness/diameter ratio, and tensile stress of the carotid artery in children are presented in this study • Intima-media thickness as a surrogate marker for arterial health in children should be complemented by intima-media thickness/diameter ratio measurement.Network-level analysis based on anatomical, pairwise similarities (e.g., cortical thickness) has been gaining increasing attention recently. However, there has not been a systematic study of the impact of spatial scale and edge definitions on predictive performance, which is necessary to obtain a clear understanding of their relative performance. In this study, we present a histogram-based approach to construct subject-wise weighted networks that enable a principled comparison across different methods of network analysis. We design several weighted networks based on three large publicly available datasets and perform a robust evaluation of their predictive power under four levels of separability. An interesting insight generated is that changes in nodal size (spatial scale) have no significant impact on predictive power among the three classification experiments and two disease cohorts studied, i.e., mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease from ADNI, and Autism from the ABIDE dataset. We also release an open source python package called graynet to enable others to leverage the novel network feature extraction algorithms presented here. These techniques and toolbox can also be applied to other modalities due to their domain- and feature-agnostic nature) in diverse applications of connectivity research. In addition, the findings from the ADNI dataset are replicated in the AIBL dataset using an open source machine learning tool called neuropredict.Oxylipins are highly bioactive lipid mediators derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and have fundamental roles in a diverse set of homeostatic and inflammatory processes. Current targeted methods of analyzing oxylipins require long runtimes and laborious sample preparation, limiting their application to epidemiological studies. Here, we report the development of an online solid-phase extraction-liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (online SPE-LC-MS/MS) method to quantify 49 non-esterified oxylipins and PUFAs, including prostanoids, leukotrienes, lipoxins, resolvins, hydroxy PUFAs, epoxy PUFAs, and their PUFA precursors, in 50-μL samples of human serum. The new method was validated in terms of linearity, lower limits of quantification, recovery, precision, and matrix effects. The limits of quantification were in the range of 0.18 to 9 pg for oxylipins. A single 11.5-min analysis enabled the accurate (80-120% recovery), precise, and reproducible (RSD less then 15%) quantification of 32 analytes at three spiked concentrations (0.
