The strategies associated with Predator Evasion in Response to a Visual Looming Stimulation in Zebrafish (Danio rerio).
Prioritising epidemiological/clinical aspects of epidemics may have a depoliticising effect and contribute to overlooking socio-economic determinants of the Zika epidemic and issues related to reproductive justice. There is a workforce crisis in NHS general practice (GP). It is estimated that to meet future healthcare needs around 50% of current medical students will need to choose a career in GP. Positive role modelling is an influential factor in medical students' career choice, but denigration of primary care during medical training may undermine the aspirations of students considering GP as a career. This article discusses the importance of medical schools detecting and managing denigration of GP in their curricula and, for the first time, suggests an objective approach to the measurement of denigration. Four facets which constitute denigration are discussed and proposed as a collective measure. These are language used about GP, proportion of curriculum time spent by students in GP, accurate representation of the clinical content of GP and equity of funding between hospital and GP placements. Furthermore, we discuss the key ethical and legal challenges that are faced by medical schools and, indeed, healthcare settings, that need to be overcome to enable proactive measurement and management of denigration.Purpose Cure- and toxicity rates of prostate IGRT can both be affected by ill-chosen planning target volume (PTV) margins. For dose-escalated prostate radiotherapy, we studied the potential for organ at risk (OAR) sparing and compensation of prostate motion with robust plan optimization using the coverage probability (CovP) concept compared to conventional PTV-based IMRT.Material and methods We evaluated plan quality of CovP-plans for 27 intermediate risk prostate cancer patients treated in a prospective study (78 Gy/39 fractions). Clinical target volume (CTV) and OARs were contoured on three separate CTs to capture movement and deformation. buy Resveratrol To define the internal target volume (ITV), the union of CTV1-3 was encompassed by an isotropic margin of 7 mm for the planning process. CovP-dose distribution is optimized considering weight factors for IMRT constraints derived from probabilities of systematic organ displacement in the three CTs. CovP-dose volume histograms (DVHs) were compared with additionally calculating daily time-consuming re-planning. SUMMARYWe evaluated the robustness of coverage probability (CovP)-based IMRT plans within a prospective study for prostate cancer radiotherapy. The treatment plans were compared with newly calculated conventional PTV-based IMRT plans. We were able to show that CovP led to a clearly more robust target coverage by avoiding hot spots at OARs compared to conventional PTV-based IMRT. In addition, negative consequences of an inflated PTV can be ameliorated by a more relaxed CovP-based dose prescription.Structured abstractObjective This paper proposes a comprehensive literature review of past works addressing Hearing Protection Devices (HPDs) comfort with the aim of identifying the main sources of variability in comfort evaluation. Design Literature review. Study samples Documents were hand searched and Internet searched using 'PubMed', 'Web of Science', 'Google Scholar', 'ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Professional', 'Scopus' or 'Google' search engines. While comfort constructs and measurement methods are reviewed for both earplugs and earmuff HPD types, results and analyses are provided for earplugs only. Results The literature shows that the multiple sources of the perceived comfort measurement variability are related to the complexity of the concept of comfort and to the various physical and psychosocial characteristics of the triad 'Environment/Person/Earplug' which differ from one study to the other. Conclusions Considering the current state of knowledge and in order to decrease comfort measurements variability, it is advised to (i) use a multidimensional construct of comfort and derive a comfort index for each comfort dimensions, (ii) use exhaustive and valid questionnaires, (iii) quantify as much as triad characteristics as possible and use them as independent or control variables, and (iv) assess the quality of the earplug fitting and the attenuation efficiency. Objective In this study, we aimed to determine the extent to which smoothed cepstral peak prominence (CPPS) can replace or complement the conventional acoustic measures of jitter, shimmer, and harmonic-to-noise ratio in the assessment of various types of dysphonia.Methodology A total of 60 males and 80 females were divided into two groups dysphonic group and control group (30 males and 40 females in each group). The voice samples in the form of sustained vowel /a/ phonation and continuous speech were recorded and assessed using auditory perceptual analysis, acoustic analysis, and cepstral analysis. Results Jitter was found to have the best predictive ability during sustained phonation, whereas CPPS was found to have the best predictive ability during continuous speech. Conclusion Cepstral analysis is as reliable as the conventional acoustic analysis in the diagnosis of dysphonia and to detect its severity. However, CPPS cannot replace conventional acoustic measures.Purpose Patients who have survived an acute aortic dissection remain at risk for postdissection thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (PD-TAAAs). Fenestrated/branched endovascular repair for PD-TAAA is increasingly used in some high-volume centers, but outcomes are still limited because of the additional challenges compared to atherosclerotic thoracoabdominal aneurysms. This study was performed to evaluate the literature on fenestrated/branched endovascular repair for PD-TAAAs. Methods PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Database were searched for relevant studies published until September 2019. Outcome data were extracted to evaluate the technical success, 30-day mortality, later survival, major complications, endoleaks, target vessel patency, and reintervention. Studies were analyzed in a pooled proportion meta-analysis. Results In total, 143 patients from 4 studies were identified for the pooled data analysis. The pooled technical success rate was 98% (95% CI 86%-100%). After the treatment, the overall estimated 30-day mortality rate was 3% (95% CI 1%-8%), early spinal cord ischemia rate was 10% (95% CI 4%-21%), early renal injury rate was 5% (95% CI 1%-19%), endoleak rate was 33% (95% CI 22%-47%), reintervention rate at a median follow-up of 22.
