Plumcot is an interspecific hybrid product between Japanese plums (Prunus salicina) and apricots (Prunus armeniaca) obtained by the NIHHS, Korea in 1999 [1]. At the early of 2017, black spots-like symptoms were observed on plumcot fruits and leaves at cultivation areas in Naju (34.965595, 126.665853) province. Further investigation shows that approximately 60% of the plumcot leaves in the affected orchard were infected, which caused 40% total production loss. At the early stage of infection, disease symptoms appear as small, angular and water-soaked spots and develop into circular brown spots at the later stages of infection. As the disease progresses, the leaf tissues around the spots became yellow and the lesions enlarged. When the adjacent lesions merged and the necrotic tissues fall off, shot-hole symptoms appear on the leaves. To identify the causal agent of this disease, infected leaf tissues were excised and surface-sterilized with 1% NaOCl for 30 secs prior to rinsing with sterile water, thrice . Tissill limited. Therefore, the identification of Xap as a causal agent to the black spot disease is critical for the development of disease management strategies and to identify appropriate agrochemicals to control the occurrence of this disease in the field. To our knowledge, this is the first report of Xap as a causal agent to the shot-hole disease on the plumcot in Korea.Apple (Malus domestica) and pear (Pyrus communis) are important fruit crops in the Netherlands, with total production of 269,000 tons and 402,000 tons in 2018, respectively. In 2018 and 2019 postharvest fruit rots were observed on the apple variety Elstar (one observation) and pear varieties Conference and Doyenné du Comice (multiple observations). The symptoms were found after storage in controlled atmosphere storage facilities on fruits from different orchards across the Netherlands. Disease incidences up to 50% of the stored fruit were observed. The diseased fruits showed circular brown to black spots with irregular and diffuse margins that enlarged rapidly to form distinctive rings, typical of Phytophthora infection. Several Phytophthora species are currently known to cause fruit rot of pome fruit (Sanchez et al. 2019). To isolate the causal agent, small portions of fruit flesh from decayed fruit were excised from the lesion margin and placed on potato dextrose agar (PDA). The plates were incubated at 20° sequencing. P. chlamydospora is found in streams and wet soil worldwide, and has only rarely been recovered as a pathogen from ornamental and woody species (Blomquist et al. 2012; Ginetti et al. 2014; Türkölmez et al. 2016). To our knowledge, this is the first report confirming P. chlamydospora as a causal agent of fruit rot of commercially produced apple and pear cultivars in the Netherlands.Background Metabolic syndrome (MS) comprises a cluster of risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases, which are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Many studies have shown that neck circumference (NC) has validity in the measure of MS since it correlates positively with the traditional components. For these reasons, this study aimed at comparing waist circumference (WC) and NC for identifying MS parameters in patients treated at a cardiology unit. Methods This study included 309 patients assisted in a Cardiology Unit. Biochemical and anthropometric parameters were evaluated. Correlations between neck and WC with anthropometric, biochemical, and atherogenic indices were evaluated. The diagnostic ability of neck and WC was assessed by using the receiver operating characteristics curve. Results The patients had a mean age of 57.2 years, and 56% were men. The diagnosis of MS was present in 48% of men and 39% of women. Neck and WC showed a positive correlation with each other, and both showed positive correlations with the criteria for MS. Moreover, NC showed a positive correlation with body mass index (BMI), insulin, homeostatic model assessment (HOMA)-β, and C-reactive protein. WC showed a positive correlation with BMI, HOMA of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), and Castelli Index I. Both neck and WC showed the ability to identify the presence of the MS. Dactinomycin Conclusion Both neck and WC showed a significant correlation with several of the metabolic parameters, including some used as criteria for the diagnosis of MS. In addition, both measures demonstrated a good ability to predict MS, making these measures promising for screening patients with this syndrome.Background There is a wide variation in radiation dose levels that can be used with chest CT in order to detect indeterminate pulmonary nodules. Purpose To compare the performance of lower-radiation-dose chest CT with that of routine dose in the detection of indeterminate pulmonary nodules 5 mm or greater. Materials and Methods In this retrospective study, CT projection data from 83 routine-dose chest CT examinations performed in 83 patients (120 kV, 70 quality reference mAs [QRM]) were collected between November 2013 and April 2014. Reference indeterminate pulmonary nodules were identified by two nonreader thoracic radiologists. By using validated noise insertion, five lower-dose data sets were reconstructed with filtered back projection (FBP) or iterative reconstruction (IR; 30 QRM with FBP, 10 QRM with IR, 5 QRM with FBP, 5 QRM with IR, and 2.5 QRM with IR). Three thoracic radiologists circled pulmonary nodules, rating confidence that the nodule was a 5-mm-or-greater indeterminate pulmonary nodule, and gra, 0.9 mGy) had noninferior performance compared with routine dose in depicting pulmonary nodules. Leveraging recent advances in deep learning may facilitate rapid detection and reduce time to treatment. Purpose To develop a convolutional neural network to detect LVOs at multiphase CT angiography. Materials and Methods This multicenter retrospective study evaluated 540 adults with CT angiography examinations for suspected acute ischemic stroke from February 2017 to June 2018. Examinations positive for LVO (n = 270) were confirmed by catheter angiography and LVO-negative examinations (n = 270) were confirmed through review of clinical and radiology reports. Preprocessing of the CT angiography examinations included vasculature segmentation and the creation of maximum intensity projection images to emphasize the contrast agent-enhanced vasculature. Seven experiments were performed by using combinations of the three phases (arterial, phase 1; peak venous, phase 2; and late venous, phase 3) of the CT angiography.
