The autochthonous OC accumulation flux was 6.6 × 109 g C year-1, which was equal to 2.3 times the carbon emission from the reservoir surface to the atmosphere as CO2-C, indicating that the autochthonous OC produced within the reservoir is a large carbon sink. The Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit process converts heavy vacuum gas oil into more valuable products in the presence of zeolite catalyst at 520 °C and 2.5 bar. The coke is burned off with air in the regenerator tower at 700 °C and 230 ton / h of flue gases are produced. MD-224 MDMX chemical The flue gases consist of CO2 (12.7% mole), N2 (66.2% mole), H2O (19.2% mole), O2 (1.7% mole), and SO2 (0.2% mole). In this study, the chemical absorption of CO2 in an absorption and desorption pilot plant was investigated and this process was simulated by Aspen Hysys. The pilot plant used has an absorber tower of 15 cm in diameter and a stripper tower of 10 cm. The towers were filled up to 1.5 m with 3-mm Raschig ring packing. A concentration of 30 wt% diethanolamine (DEA) solvent is used for CO2 absorption. Absorption was carried out at 1.1 bar, solvent temperature of 40 °C, flue gas temperature of 60 °C, and liquid to gas ratio (L/G = 3.7). Amine regeneration was carried out at 125 °C and 1.9 bar. The CO2 absorption efficiency in the pilot plant was obtained 96% and in Aspen Hysys simulation its 95%. The CO2 recovery efficiency in the stripper tower obtained 95% and CO2 purity is 94.6%. The overall efficiency of the chemical absorption with this process is 92%, and the regeneration energy in the stripper tower is 2.52 GJ/ton-co2. With this method, 1003 ton/day CO2 is captured from the FCCU flue gases and preventing emission to the atmosphere.Functionalized metal-organic frameworks (F-MOFs) are known as a promising chemical sensors since they have specific merits like fixed functionalized ligands projecting into the pores which can be utilized to enhance sensitivity and selectivity. Due to the important role of anions in biological process and environmental systems, there is an increasing interest in synthesis and design of new receptors for anions. Urea groups can operate as a hydrogen bond donating site with hydrogen bond acceptor molecules. Strong and directional hydrogen-bonding between the positive urea groups and anions could reduce vibrational quenching and enhance the fluorescence intensity. In this study, two luminescent porous urea decorated MOFs have been successfully assembled and structurally characterized. Luminescence studies of these MOFs toward anions revealed that these F-MOFs exhibit high sensitivity and selectivity toward H2AsO4- and F- anions as two major ground water pollutants. Moreover, the proposed materials have been applied for the removal of arsenate and nitrate in contaminant well water samples. Graphical abstract. The presence of nanoplastics (NPs) in various products and from the weathering of released plastic materials are of concern for the environment's safety. The purpose of this study was to examine the biophysical effects of polystyrene NPs on freshwater mussels. Mussels were exposed to a range of concentrations of NPs (0.1, 0.5, 1, and 5 mg/L) for 24 h and allowed to depurate for 12 h in clean aquarium water. The digestive gland was isolated and analyzed for NPs, lipids, viscosity, protein aggregation, anisotropic changes (liquid crystals LCs), and the oscillatory modulation in viscosity during the formation of self-organizing enzyme complex of fumarase, malate dehydrogenase, and citrate synthase. The results revealed that mussels accumulated NPs in the digestive gland and their levels were significantly correlated with lipids levels, LCs, the increase in the malate dehydrogenase/citrate synthase activity ratio, and oscillations in viscosity. Protein aggregation was also found to be correlated with lipid levels. The data suggests that the presence of NPs in the digestive gland involves changes in lipid content and LC formation and perturbs the normal oscillations in viscosity during sequential enzyme reactions of the above enzymes. It is concluded that the uptake of NPs in cells could disrupt the internal organization of cells which can interfere with the normal association of enzymes involved in energy metabolism.Phytoextraction has been considered an effective and environment-friendly method for removing heavy metals from contaminated soil. However, the efficiency, mechanism, and adaptability of phytoextraction by hyperaccumulators in Cd-polluted weakly alkaline soil have not been investigated in detail. In this study, pot experiments were conducted to evaluate the enhanced effects of S,S-ethylenediamine disuccinic acid (EDDS) on phytoextraction in alkaline soil by measuring the degradation kinetic characteristics of EDDS and Cd absorption dynamics of Tagetes patula L. (T. patula) and Phytolacca americana L. (P. americana) for a period of 55 days. Results showed that the half-life of EDDS varied from 4.20-7.07 days and 3.35-4.36 days for T. patula and P. americana, respectively. EDDS-activated Cd reached saturation at a low dosage (1 mM) and a single application of EDDS was found to be better than double applications. The activation of EDDS on Cd applied before 45 days of harvest was better than that before 15 days of harvest, and disappeared after a 35-day application. Correspondingly, the Cd concentration in P. americana and T. patula leaves increased significantly after 3 days of the EDDS application. However, T. patula had a biomass 2.57 times and Cd absorption capacity 10.06 times higher than P. americana. EDDS showed almost no influence on the stem and leaf biomass of T. patula; however, the root weight decreased by 9.44-71.77%. The Cd concentration in T. patula leaves of all the treatments was 1.00-1.81 times that of the control group. In comparison with other treatments, the EDDS application (3 mM) before 15 days of harvest extracted the highest amount of Cd (601.45 μg/pot) in T. patula shoots, reaching 1.40 times that in the control group. Therefore, T. patula might be a more suitable phytoremediator for Cd-polluted alkaline soil than P. americana; the most effective method was the EDDS application (3 mM) before 15 days of harvest.
