This online cross-sectional survey assesses the signs/symptoms, the protective measures taken and the awareness and risk perception regarding COVID-19 among Italian dental hygienists. All Italian dental hygienists were invited to participate. The ad hoc online questionnaire was divided into four domains personal data, protective measures (-before patient arrival; -in the waiting room; -in the operating room) and PPE, awareness and risk perception.
Two-thousand-seven-hundred-ninety-eight subjects participated. Only 0.25% of the sample was positive to the virus. Sense of fatigue (8.19%), headache (7.81%) and sore throat (7.32%) were the most common symptoms. A statistically significant trend across the areas with a different prevalence of COVID-19 was observed related to the number of signs/symptoms (areas z = 6.38 p< 0.01). Overall, 90.55% of the sample used protective glasses or visor, 90.10% disposable gloves and 82.80% surgical mask. Regarding the confidence to avoid the infection, a statistically sihygienists belonging to the 3 years-professional-experiences groups who worked in the high COVID-19 prevalence area. The findings of this survey show that Italian dental hygienists have modified their working habits according to the professional risk related to the current pandemic and they seem correctly prepared to face the risk of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Interprofessional Education (IPE) is now included in curricula in universities worldwide. It is known that there are differences in attitudes towards IPE among students, but less is known regarding how students' personalities and learnings styles correspond with those attitudes. The aim of this study was to investigate whether personality traits and learning styles have any impact on medical students' attitudes towards IPE.
Seventy nine medical students in their 9th term (63% females, mean age 29 years) were questioned regarding their attitudes towards IPE according to the Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale questionnaire, the Kolb's learning style and Big Five Inventory questionnaires. For all three instruments we used the Swedish translated versions.
When investigated with a logistic regression, adjusting for age and gender, there were no significant associations between Big Five inventory, Kolb's learning style and IEPS, except for the Reflective-Pragmatic learning style that was moderately associated with a higher IEPS score.
There was no clear correlation between personality, learning style and attitude towards IPE as measured by the IEPS among medical students in our study population. Further investigations would benefit from a combination of qualitative and quantitative design.

Translating clinical guidelines into routine clinical practice is mandatory to achieve population level improvement of health. Emergence of specific therapy for acute stroke yielded the 'time is brain' concept introducing the need for emergency treatment, pointing to the need for increasing stroke awareness of the general population. General practitioners (GPs) manage chronic diseases and could hence catalyse stroke awareness. In our study, the knowledge of general practitioners toward accurate identification of acute stroke candidacy was investigated.
GPs and residents in training for family medicine participated in a survey on a voluntary basis using supervised self-administration between the 1st of February 2018 and 31st July 2018. HS148 in vivo Two clinical cases of acute stroke that differed only regarding the patient's eligibility for intravenous thrombolysis were presented. Participants answered two open-ended questions. Text analysis was performed using NVIVO software.
Of the 127 respondents, 69 (54.3%) were female. The median age was 49 (34-62) years. The median time spent working after graduation was 14.5 (2-22.5) years. Board-certified GPs made up 77.2% of the sample. Qualitative analysis revealed stroke as the most frequent diagnosis for both cases. Territorial localization and possible aetiology were also established. Respondents properly identified eligibility for thrombolysis. Quantitative assessment showed that having the practice closer to the stroke centre increases the likelihood of adequate diagnosis for acute stroke.
Our results show that GPs properly diagnose acute stroke and identify intravenous thrombolysis candidates. Moreover, we found that a vigorous acute stroke triage system facilitates the translation of theory into practice.

Rattus norvegicus and Suncus murinus are important reservoirs of zoonotic bacterial diseases. An understanding of the composition of gut and oropharynx bacteria in these animals is important for monitoring and preventing such diseases. We therefore examined gut and oropharynx bacterial composition in these animals in China.
Proteobacteria, Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes were the most abundant phyla in faecal and throat swab samples of both animals. However, the composition of the bacterial community differed significantly between sample types and animal species. Firmicutes exhibited the highest relative abundance in throat swab samples of R. norvegicus, followed by Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes. In throat swab specimens of S. murinus, Proteobacteria was the predominant phylum, followed by Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes. Firmicutes showed the highest relative abundance in faecal specimens of R. norvegicus, followed by Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria. Firmicutes and Proteobacteria had almost equal abundance in faecal specimens of S.
