Hypoxia affects the physiology of cells and organisms; however, the mechanisms associated with hypoxia adaptation remain unknown in Tibetan chickens. In this study, we aimed to identify long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) involved in hypoxia adaptation in Tibetan chickens and Daheng broilers, to provide insights into the mechanisms underlying hypoxia induction. RNA sequencing results revealed that a total of 5504 lncRNAs and 16,779 microRNAs were differentially expressed in four Tibetan chickens and four Daheng broilers; 70 lncRNAs were up-regulated and 113 lncRNAs were down-regulated in the Tibetan chickens compared to the expression levels in the Daheng broilers. Epigenetics activator The differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs) were enriched in the following Gene ontology terms protein complex localization, small-molecule metabolic process, and RNA splicing. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses revealed that the DElncRNAs were mainly enriched in pathways that regulate cell junctions and intercellular spaces and oxygen or energy metabolism, mainly involved in hypoxic adaption. Moreover, a predicted ceRNA network with five DElncRNAs interacted with three miRNAs that acted on 42 pathways through 19 target genes. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to verify that the expression levels of ENSGALG00000008047, ENSGALG00000050044, and ENSGALG00000053982 were significantly lower in Tibetan chickens than in the Daheng broilers, consistent with the RNA sequencing results. We obtained lncRNA expression profiles for the heart tissue of Tibetan chickens for the first time and have provided novel data that may aid research on biological adaptation to hypoxic stress.Low phytate soybeans are desirable both from a nutritional and economic standpoint. Inositol 1, 3, 4, 5, 6-pentakisphosphate 2-kinase (IPK1), optimizes the metabolic flux of phytate generation in soybean and thus shows much promise as a likely candidate for pathway regulation. In the present study, the differential spatial and temporal expression profiling of GmIpk1 and its two homologs Glyma06g03310 and Glyma04g03310 were carried out in Glycine max L. var Pusa 9712 revealing the early stages of seed development to be the potential target for gene manipulation. NCBI databank was screened using BLASTp to retrieve 32 plant IPK1 sequences showing high homology to GmIPK1 and its homologs. Bio-computational tools were employed to predict the protein's properties, conserved domains, and secondary structures. Using state-of-the-art in silico physicochemical approach, the three-dimensional (3D) GmIPK1 protein model (PMD ID-PM0079931), was developed based on Arabidopsis thaliana (PDB ID 4AQK). Superimposition of 4AQK and best model of GmIPK1 revealed that the GmIPK1 aligned well and shows a sequence identity score of 54.32% with 4AQK and a low RMSD of 0.163 nm and almost similar structural features. The modeled structure was further refined considering the stereochemical geometry, energy and packing environment between the model and the template along with validation of its intrinsic dynamics. Molecular dynamics simulation studies of GmIPK1 were carried out to obtain structural insights and to understand the interactive behavior of this enzyme with ligands ADP and IP6. The results of this study provide some fundamental knowledge on the distinct mechanistic step performed by the key residues to elucidate the structure-function relationship of GmIPK1, as an initiative towards engineering "low phytate soybean".Air pollution has been a hazard in China over recent decades threatening the health of half a billion people. Much effort has been devoted to mitigating air pollution in China leading to a significant reduction in primary pollutants emissions from 2013 to 2017, while a continuously worsening trend of surface ozone (O3, a secondary pollutant and greenhouse gas) was observed over the same period. Atmospheric oxidation, dominated by daytime reactions involving hydroxyl radicals (OH), is the critical process to convert freshly-emitted compounds into secondary pollutants, and is underestimated in current models of China's air pollution. Halogens (chlorine, bromine, and iodine) are known to profoundly influence oxidation chemistry in the marine environment; however, their impact on atmospheric oxidation and air pollution in China is unknown. In the present study, we report for the first time that halogens substantially enhance the total atmospheric oxidation capacity in polluted areas of China, typically 10% to 20% (up to 87% in winter) and mainly by significantly increasing OH level. The enhanced oxidation along the coast is driven by oceanic emissions of bromine and iodine, and that over the inland areas by anthropogenic emission of chlorine. The extent and seasonality of halogen impact are largely explained by the dynamics of Asian monsoon, location and intensity of halogen emissions, and O3 formation regime. The omission of halogen emissions and chemistry may lead to significant errors in historical re-assessments and future projections of the evolution of atmospheric oxidation in polluted regions. In this report, we describe the case of a 13-year-old male who presented to our hospital after sustaining injuries from a motor vehicle accident (MVA). A full-body CT scan revealed multiple injuries, including subgaleal hematoma, hemorrhagic brain contusion, moderate-size aortic pseudoaneurysm with associated mediastinal hematoma, and multiple stable visceral organ lacerations. Additionally, there were numerous fractures, including in the right femur associated with large hematoma. The patient was deemed at high risk for systemic anticoagulation required for an urgent operative aortic repair. Available percutaneous endograft sizes were deemed too large for his descending aortic diameter, and the associated potential risk of vessel injury from the large sheath required to implant the endograft removed this option from consideration. The decision was made to use a balloon-expandable covered stent, which is routinely used to treat coarctation of the aorta (CoA) as a life-saving alternative. A BeGraft aortic stent (Bentley InnoMed, Hechingen, Germany) measuring 16x38 mm was successfully implanted percutaneously with complete exclusion of the pseudoaneurysm without any procedural complications.
