One hundred consecutive patients (mean age 25.8±11.7 years), comprising 65 female patients (mean age 26.4±12.1 years) and 35 male patients (mean age 24.6±11.0 years) requiring mandibular advancement without genioplasty, were enrolled prospectively in the study. Cone beam computed tomography scans were acquired for each patient at three time-points preoperatively, immediately (1-6 weeks) after surgery, and 1 year after surgery. A validated tool was utilized to assess the surgical movement and relapse. Based on percentage, the majority of the distal and proximal translational and rotational movements relapsed within the range of ≤2mm and ≤2°. The distal segment revealed a significant relapse in a posterior, inferior, and clockwise pitch direction. Both left and right proximal segments showed a significant translational relapse in the medial, posterior, and superior direction. Amongst the rotational parameters, proximal segments relapsed significantly in clockwise pitch, clockwise roll, and counterclockwise yaw direction. Overall, both distal and proximal bone segments showed a clinically acceptable translational and rotational stability. The proximal segments torqued towards their original position with a reduction of flaring.The aim of this study was to better understand posterior oral cavity cancer (POCC) and its surgical treatment. This was a retrospective study of 76 patients who were diagnosed with POCC and underwent surgical treatment. Twenty-eight patients were treated with anatomical unit resection surgery (AURS) and 48 patients with conventional surgery. After initial treatment with curative intent, the patients were followed-up regularly with clinical examinations and imaging; the median duration of follow-up was 30.9 months (range 2-67 months). The 3-year overall survival was 64.3% in the experimental AURS group and 39.6% in the conventional surgery control group (hazard ratio 0.49, 95% confidence interval 0.26-0.93; P=0.031). The 3-year disease-free survival was 64.3% in the experimental group and 37.5% in the control group (hazard ratio 0.53, 95% confidence interval 0.27-1.02; P=0.114). In conclusion, AURS is an effective surgical treatment for POCC that can considerably improve patient survival rates.

To retrospectively analyse the impact of prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) on survival and intracranial progression in patients with limited stage small cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC) in the modern era of widespread magnetic resonance imaging brain screening.

Patients with LS-SCLC treated within our network between 2009 and 2020 who responded to initial therapy were stratified by receipt of PCI and stage of disease. A propensity score match analysis was carried out for stage II-III patients. Overall and neurological survival were defined as time to death and presumed death due to uncontrolled intracranial disease, respectively. Brain metastasis-free survival and symptomatic brain metastasis-free survival were defined as freedom from intracranial progression and symptomatic intracranial progression, respectively.
