JBEJ هو ملف صور يستعمل من اجل الصور الملونه و الرماديه و احاديه اللون، و هو يعمل بشكل أفضل للصور مع تدرج خفيف من الألوان و الضلال
و على الاغلب كل من حمل صور من المواقع الالكترونيه او حاول فتحها صوره ارسلت اليه او من خلال البحث عن صوره جميعها تحتوي على ملفات ملحقه مثل JPE, JFIF , JFI.
و من اسباب شهره سهوله استعمالها و قرئاتها من قبل العديد من البرامج مثل الفوتوشوب ،اي شخص يمتلك كاميره رقميه يستطيع ان يلتقط و يعدل و يخزن و ينشر الصور على الانترنتJPEG
و بالطبع هـذا البرنامج قيد التعديل من اجل نسخه مطوره افضل JBEG2000 و هـذا يعد عامل بيع اساسي و لكنه لم يعتمد حتى الان بشكل عالمي<
