Bogo finding a crying Nick at the night of the dreaded Scout Meeting or catching him in a crime/hustle during his teen years and becoming a replacement father figure for him when he realizes that Nick is a genuinely a good kid. Cut to the movie and Nick is a professional informant working for Bogo posing as a pawpsicle hustler. Enter cute little meter maid...
Nick is confronted by a rabbit by the name of Jack Savage who claims to be his bodyguard and that Nick is the heir of noble title due to his ancestry with Lord Robert of Huntingdon, or as he is more commonly known as: Robin Hood.
After losing consciousness in a dangerous situation, Judy wakes up in the hospital to find Nick at her bedside and her memory of the incident hazy. All seems well enough when the doctor comes in, even jovial when nick keeps making quips behind the doctor's unaware back. But then judy starts noticing the little things: the doctor never acknowledges Nick, the notoriously squeaky hospital chairs remain silent, the room smells clean and devoid of fox musk, and nick is suspiciously devoid of injuries even though judy swears he had looked like hell last she saw him. It's when the doctor falters at her mention of nick and she notices that nick, who's gone silent, doesn't have a shadow does she begin to realize. "I'm so sorry, officer hopps, but your partner, officer wilde, is dead."
The police catch a young nick hustling and bring him to his mother with a warning that further offenses will have him sent to juvie. Scared of the path her son is falling to and weary of the prejudices and darkness of the city, mrs. Wilde moves her family and dressmaking business to the country, and ends up becoming neighbors with the hopps farm.
Judy, freshly arrived to zootopia, receives her brand new uniform only to find that it needs alterations done. After a terrible first day meeting with a sleezy hustler confox, she goes to the nearest tailors, a small shop run by a sweet old vixen. When the vixen calls her son to do the alterations, both Nick and judy are shocked and dismayed to see each other again.
