Concentration-dependent transcriptome regarding zebrafish larvae pertaining to environmental bisphenol Ersus examination.
Metal-based Fenton-like catalysts usually activate H2O2 to produce free radicals (•OH and O2•-) for the degradation of organic pollutants. However, a catalytic reaction dominated by free radicals is easily interfered with by various inorganic anions and water matrices. Herein, g-C3N4-wrapped copper phosphide (CuxP), as a highly efficient Fenton-like catalyst, was successfully synthesized by a simple low-temperature phosphidation method. The CuxP/g-C3N4 catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic ability for the removal of various organic contaminants over a wide pH range of 3-11. In addition, the catalyst exhibited strong anti-interference ability toward various inorganic anions (Cl-, SO42-, NO3-, F-, H2PO4-, HCO3- and CO32-) and water matrices (lake water, river water, tap water and simulated water matrix). The reasons for this performance were analyzed by verifying the mechanism of the catalytic reaction. Compared to the pure CuxP catalyst, the CuxP/g-C3N4 composite possessed good catalytic stability. The enhanced and deactivated mechanisms of the CuxP/g-C3N4 catalyst were systematically analyzed by a series of characterization techniques. A possible reaction mechanism was also proposed based on the experimental results. This work provides new insights into designing highly efficient metal-based Fenton-like catalysts with strong anti-interference ability to practically treat wastewater.Protein-imprinted polymers are artificial receptors capable of recognizing protein. They are highly promising for applications in important bio-related areas, however, their development was severely retarded by two problems difficult template removal and low imprinting efficiency. The two problems could be overcome by constructing shape-memorable imprinted cavities using peptide crosslinker. Here a new oligo-l-lysine-based peptide crosslinker was designed and synthesized. A novel cytochrome c (Cyt C)-imprinted polymer was synthesized using the new peptide crosslinker. When switching pH between 12 and 7.4, the peptide segments incorporated in the polymer underwent reversible helix-coil transition. Because of the precise folding of the peptide segments, the imprinted cavities in the polymer could be enlarged when lowering pH to 7.4 to release the template protein, but restore their original size and shape at pH 12 to recognize the template protein. Therefore complete template removal was achieved under mild conditions. Meanwhile the imprinting efficiency was improved significantly. Compared to polymer crosslinked with the commonly used crosslinker N, N-methylenebisacrylamide, the imprinting efficiency of the peptide-crosslinked polymer was increased by 15 times. The new imprinted polymer presented not only a high adsorption capacity (454.4 mgg-1), a high imprinting factor (6.3), high selectivity towards Cyt C, and excellent reusability, but also could preserve the fragile secondary structure of the eluted protein, and therefore had high potential in bioseparation. As a demonstration, Cyt C added into fetal bovine serum was separated from the sample using the polymer via a simple adsorption-desorption cycle. The recovery rate was as high as 92.7%.A perfect PtCu nanocube with partial hollow structure was prepared by hydrothermal reaction and its electrocatalytic methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) was studied. The appropriate concentration of shape-control additives KI and triblock pluronic copolymers, poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO19-PPO69-PEO19) (P123) play crucial roles in the final product morphology. The PtCu nanocubes can be perfectly in situ immobilizedonto graphene under the action of P123 while the structure and cubic morphologyremain unchanged. The electrochemical tests suggest that the obtained PtCu nanocube (PtCu-NCb) exhibits better MOR activity and stability than PtCu hexagon nanosheet (PtCu-NSt), PtCu nanoellipsoid (PtCu-NEs) and commercial Pt/C in alkaline medium. When in situ immobilized onto graphene, the MOR catalytic activity and stability of PtCu cubes are further improved. The markedly enhanced electrocatalytic activity and durability maybe attributed to the special cubic morphology with partial hollow structure enclosed by highly efficient facet and the probably the synergistic effect of PtCu and intermediate state CuI decorated on the surface and graphene.Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder. Individuals with EV are more susceptible to the development of cutaneous neoplasia in sun-exposed regions. KU0063794 This disease should be closely observed for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) or pre-cancerous lesions - if neoplasia is found, it should be removed. A 68-year-old woman with EV had a post-operative recurrent, invasive cSCC growing on her upper-left eyelid. Although the standard treatment for cSCC is surgical excision, it is challenging to reach the deepest regions. Herein, we reported a case of a recurrent, invasive cSCC effectively treated by a combination of non-invasive 5-aminolevulinic acid-mediated photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) and deep-penetrative holmium laser. The results were satisfactory without any adverse effects to the patient.Neospora caninum is one of the main causes of bovine abortions worldwide, including Japan. Nothing is known about the N. caninum population substructures in Japan, and only one isolate from a pregnant sheep has been studied to date. This study describes, for the first time, the genetic characterization of isolates of N. caninum implicated in cattle abortions in Japan. Brains from five aborted fetuses were successfully genotyped based on multilocus microsatellite markers. Assigned genotypes showed high frequencies of mixed alleles in the sequenced markers MS7 and MS10, raising concerns about the subpopulation structures of N. caninum infecting animals in Japan. Clustering analysis of the genotypes, together with those from a previous dataset, showed that five of the six genotypes were distinct from other clusters. Meanwhile, the remaining genotype, together with the sheep isolate from Japan, was grouped with those from Mexico and Spain. These preliminary data may indicate a complex transmission pattern of N. caninum in Japan via clonal spreading by vertical and horizontal transmission and geographically related population substructuring.
