lide 1: Title Slide – Tesla Inc. Sustainable Facility Management Plan
Good [morning/afternoon], everyone.
My name is Sonam Gyalbu Sherpa, and today I’m going to present a sustainable facility management plan for Tesla Inc.
Tesla is not only a leader in electric vehicles, but also in solar energy and battery storage solutions. As a company at the forefront of green innovation, Tesla must ensure its facilities are managed just as sustainably as its products.

Slide 2: Current Sustainability Overview
Let’s begin with an overview of where Tesla currently stands in terms of sustainability.
Tesla has become a global leader in the transition to clean energy. Their focus has always been on reducing carbon emissions through electric vehicles, solar energy generation, and energy storage systems like Powerwall and Megapack.

However, despite these great efforts, there are still challenges. Tesla’s operations, especially its Gigafactories, require a lot of energy. They also deal with complex sourcing of raw materials like lithium, cobalt, and nickel—materials often associated with social and environmental concerns.

Lastly, waste generated within facilities—such as water, energy, and production byproducts—still needs better recycling and reuse systems.

Slide 3: Sustainability Issues in Tesla’s Facilities
Now let’s zoom into specific sustainability issues related to Tesla’s facilities.

First, high carbon emissions from battery production are one of the biggest concerns. Even though the end product—electric vehicles—has low emissions, producing the batteries is energy-intensive.

Second, Tesla’s Gigafactories use large amounts of water, especially for cooling, cleaning, and chemical processing. This poses serious sustainability risks, especially in drought-prone regions.

Third, Tesla has limited systems in place for recycling materials within their operations. Many raw materials go to waste instead of being reused, which adds to the environmental burden.

Slide 4: Proposed Sustainable FM Plan
To address these issues, here’s a proposed Sustainable Facility Management Plan.

Implement closed-loop water recycling systems – These systems allow water used in production to be cleaned and reused, greatly reducing the demand for fresh water.

Deploy AI-powered energy management solutions – Artificial Intelligence can track and optimize energy usage across Tesla’s facilities, automatically adjusting to minimize energy waste and carbon emissions.

Localize material sourcing – Instead of importing materials from far away, Tesla can build partnerships with local or regional suppliers. This reduces emissions from transportation and supports local economies.

Expand use of modular solar installations on rooftops – Tesla already produces solar panels. By installing them on all Gigafactory rooftops, Tesla can power parts of its own operations with clean energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Together, these strategies will help create a greener, smarter, and more cost-effective facility management system.

Slide 5: Conclusion & References
In conclusion, this plan supports Tesla’s identity as a leader in sustainability and innovation.

By addressing water waste, carbon emissions, and inefficient energy use, Tesla can move even closer to achieving net-zero operations.

It also makes good business sense: using recycled water, sourcing locally, and optimizing energy use will reduce long-term costs and provide eco-benefits that align with government regulations and public expectations.

Most importantly, it matches global Facility Management standards that are quickly shifting towards sustainability, resilience, and digital innovation.

You can find more details in the references shown here, including Tesla’s own Impact Report and a 2020 article from TESMAG on Tesla’s environmental footprint.

Final Wrap-Up:
Thank you for your attention.
If Tesla implements these sustainable facility management strategies, it will not only reduce its environmental impact but also set a new global benchmark for how high-tech, high-growth companies can build a truly sustainable future.
