Randomly selected subjects from the national population register of Sweden completed the validated Abdominal Symptom Questionnaire; 1000 completed esophagogastroduodenoscopy and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale questionnaire. Duodenal biopsies were obtained from 1

Finding are reported as odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence interval and p-value.

The study population comprised 89 cases with FD and 124 healthy controls (mean age 62years, SD 12, 34% male). Clinical anxiety at follow-up was elevated in those with D1 eosinophilia at baseline considering either new-onset anxiety (OR=4.5, 95% CI 0.8, 23.8; p=0.08) or follow-up anxiety adjusting for baseline anxiety (OR=4.51 (95% CI 1.03, 19.81; p=0.046).

Yet, studies examining the status of moral judgment in amnesic patients with medial temporal lobe (MTL) lesions have yielded inconsistent results. To examine whether and how episodic processes contribute to high conflict moral decisions, amnesic patients with MTL damage and control participants were asked to judge the moral acceptability of a harmful action across two conditions that differed in the framing of the moral question. We predicted that personal (but not abstract) framing would engage episodic processes involved in mental simulation, yielding a selective impairment in MTL patients in the personal framing condition. This prediction was not confirmed as neither patients nor controls were influenced by the framing of the moral question. With the exception of a patient whose lesion extended into the amygdala bilaterally, patients were less willing than controls to endorse the utilitarian option, rejecting the harmful action despite its beneficial outcome. They also rated actions as emotionally more intense than did controls. These findings suggest that episodic processes involved in mental simulation are necessary to prospectively evaluate action-outcome contingencies.
Clinical outcomes of patients with glioma are still poor, even after standard treatments, including surgery combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. New therapeutic strategies and targets for glioma are urgently needed. Plasminogen activator urokinase receptor (PLAUR), a highly glycosylated integral membrane protein, is reported to modulate plasminogen activation and extracellular matrix degradation in many malignant cancers, but its role in gliomas remains unclear.

Glioma samples with mRNA sequencing data and clinical information from the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (n = 310) data set and The Cancer Genome Atlas (n = 611) data set were collected for this study. Analyses using Kaplan-Meier plots, time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curves, Cox regression, and nomograms were conducted to evaluate the prognostic performance of PLAUR expression. Analyses using Metascape, ESTIMATE, EPIC, and immunohistochemical staining were performed to reveal the potential biological mechanism. The statisti predict the infiltration of macrophages and the status of immune microenvironment in patients with glioma, suggesting that treatment decisions could be based on PLAUR level when administering immunotherapeutics. The soluble PLAUR in blood and other body fluids would make this approach easy to implement in the clinic.
To examine the association between self-reported food insecurity and depression in 34,129 individuals aged ≥50 years from six low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) (China, Ghana, India, Mexico, Russia, and South Africa).

Cross-sectional, community-based, nationally representative data from the WHO Study on global AGEing and adult health (SAGE) were analyzed. Self-reported past 12-month food insecurity was assessed with two questions on frequency of eating less and hunger due to lack of food. Questions based on the World Mental Health Survey version of the Composite International Diagnostic Interview were used for the endorsement of past 12-month DSM-IV depression. Multivariable logistic regression analysis and meta-analysis were conducted to assess associations.

In total, 34,129 individuals aged ≥50 years [mean (SD) age, 62.4 (16.0) years; 52.1% females] were included in the analysis. Overall, the prevalence of moderate and severe food insecurity was 6.7% and 5.1%, respectively, while the prevalence likely to suffer from depression (compared with no food insecurity). Utilizing lay health counselors and psychological interventions may be effective mechanisms to reduce depression among food-insecure populations. Interventions to address food insecurity (e.g., supplemental nutrition programs) may reduce depression at the population level but future longitudinal studies are warranted.
