OBJECTIVE to comprehend the existing possibilities for the exercise of human rights by persons with mental disorders who are institutionalized in a psychiatric hospital, from the perception of professionals. METHOD this is a qualitative descriptive-exploratory study conducted at a Psychiatric Hospital in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. For data obtention, eleven professionals responded to a semistructured questionnaire. The traditional content analysis proposed by Bardin based the data analysis. RESULTS the professionals know the human rights and try to preserve them in the hospital scope, although they recognize that the persons hospitalized are not entirely respected due to the lack of public policies or their non-suitability to the Brazilian reality. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS the structuring of extra-hospital services is necessary, as well as the comprehension of the professionals that act in psychiatric hospitals about the objectives and the functioning of such devices to assure opportunities of exercising rights by institutionalized persons.OBJECTIVE To verify the prevalence of common mental disorders and associated factors in nursing technicians. METHOD Cross-sectional analytical study conducted at a university hospital. A questionnaire with sociodemographic, educational and work-related variables and the Self Reporting Questionnaire-20 were used to verify the presence of common mental disorders. Association analysis was performed using the chi-squared test, with a significance level of 5%. RESULTS 280 nursing technicians participated in the study. The prevalence of common mental disorders was 46.9%. The variables family income (p=0.021) and working exclusively in health area (p less then 0.001) were associated with the outcome. There was a higher prevalence of CMD among individuals with a family income below four minimum wages (PR=1.41) and among professionals who worked exclusively in the health area (PR=1.95). CONCLUSION Approximately half of the nursing technicians of the university hospital presented common mental disorders, which were associated with economic and work-related variables.OBJECTIVE to analyze burnout, its predictors and association with empathy and self-efficacy among nursing students. METHOD cross-sectional analytical study with 284 students from five state universities in the state of Parana, Brazil. The instruments applied were social and academic questionnaire, Maslach Burnout Inventory, Interpersonal Reactivity Index and Occupational Self-Efficacy Scale (Short Form). selleck kinase inhibitor Spearman's correlation and univariate and multivariate logistic analysis were used. RESULTS 6.0% of the students presented high burnout, 36.3% presented high emotional exhaustion, 37.7% presented high depersonalization and 28.2% presented low personal accomplishment. The burnout predictors were absence of physical activity; weekly workload >24 hours; low empathic concern. There were negative correlations between empathy (empathic concern and perspective taking) and depersonalization; self-efficacy and emotional exhaustion; and positive correlations between personal accomplishment and empathy and self-efficacy. CONCLUSION Personal factors and an academic variable were burnout predictors among nursing students. The correlations suggest that self-efficacy and empathy can prevent burnout.OBJECTIVE to assess the relationship between health-related quality of life with depression and self-esteem of people after kidney transplantation. Young adults, people with up to one and a half years of transplantation and those who had dialysis for more than one year had higher scores. CONCLUSION the health-related quality of life of people with chronic kidney disease after transplantation ranged from good to excellent. The presence of depression was not identified. The relationship of data indicates that the higher the quality of life, the better the self-esteem assessment.OBJECTIVE to report the development of Mental Health actions shared between the Family Health Strategy located in a rural area and the Matrix Support Team by showing the communication resulting from this singular configuration. METHOD report of experience about the implementation of actions of the Family Health Support Center (Portuguese acronym NASF) in mental health care for a rural population. RESULTS the following health needs were identified psychoactive drugs consumption, lack of activities for collective care and difficulty with access to service. The expansion of actions and intersectoral involvement of actors were demonstrated as the educational attitudes were implemented. METHOD Qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study using the Life Narrative approach. Data was collected between February and May 2016, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, with an open interview with the guiding question "Tell me about your life in relation to alcohol consumption during pregnancy and the guidance received in prenatal care". RESULTS The narratives revealed lack of information and fear of malformation (physical) and fetal death due to alcohol consumption during pregnancy. DISCUSSION Malformation or fetal death may trigger a transitional process in women. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS Women have incipient knowledge about the effects of alcohol on the fetus. They consider that alcohol can only cause physical defects in the children.OBJECTIVE To know the repercussions of the experience of family violence from the oral history of adolescents. METHOD Qualitative study based on the Oral History method, conducted from interviews with adolescents enrolled in a public school in Salvador, State of Bahia, Brazil. The data were systematized according to the thematic analysis and supported by theoretical references on family violence and adolescence. RESULTS Family violence implies physical illness associated with the damage caused by physical aggression and somatization of violent events, as well as compromising mental health, provoking feelings of deep sadness, self-injury behavior and suicidal ideation. All of these factors impair interpersonal relationships, school performance, as well as making them more vulnerable to alcohol intake. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS The study indicates signs suggestive of grievance, from which the professionals should proceed the investigation in order to refute or confirm the experience of the phenomenon, as well as intervene in the cases.
