Depression is thought to generate stressful life events. However, other internalizing symptoms such as anxiety or post-traumatic stress and individual difference variables such as personality traits and alcohol use may contribute to stressful life events. Whether stress generation is specific to depression or generalized to these other variables is unclear. Tacrolimus Therefore, we tested whether stress generation was depression specific or generalizable to anxiety, PTSD, alcohol use, neuroticism, and extraversion.
Two-wave longitudinal study with a five-year follow-up.
917 young adults completed measures of internalizing symptoms, alcohol use, neuroticism, and extraversion during college and five years later along with an interview-based measure of life events.
Symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and neuroticism exhibited bivariate predictive effects on interpersonal-dependent events. When considering internalizing symptoms in the aggregate, stress generation was specific to symptoms rather than neuroticism. Furthermore, interpersonal-dependent life events mediated Time 1 internalizing symptoms predicting Time 2 symptoms.
Our results indicate that stress generation applies to internalizing symptoms broadly rather than specifically to depression. Moreover, neuroticism was no longer a significant predictor of life events when examined with internalizing symptoms simultaneously. These results support the value of integrative models that test numerous factors predicting stressful life events.

It was hypothesized that hope would mediate the effects of school connectedness and academic self-efficacy beliefs on academic performance. The statistical population of the study included all high school students in a city of Iran, from whom 500 individuals were selected as the study sample using multistage random sampling. To collect the required data, three questionnaires - i.e., academic self-efficacy subscale from the Patterns of Adaptive Learning Scale by Midgley et al., Children's Hope Scale by Snyder et al., and Brown and Evans' School Connectedness Scale - were used. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was also applied to evaluate the proposed model, and the results indicated the statistical significance of all the path coefficients between the variables. The model showed the positive and significant relation of school connectedness, academic self-efficacy beliefs, and hope with academic performance and the relation of school connectedness and academic self-efficacy beliefs with hope. The fit indices showed that the model was well-fitted. Furthermore, the significance of all the indirect relationships was also confirmed. We concluded that, the high levels of school connectedness and academic self-efficacy are associated with high academic performance and hope seems to be an important mediator of these relationships.Central venous access devices are often needed in neonates admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The location of the tip of the central catheter is usually assessed by post-procedural X-ray. However, this strategy is inaccurate and time consuming. Recent guidelines strongly recommend intra-procedural methods of tip location, to increase the cost-effectiveness of the maneuver and to shorten the time between device placement and utilization. In this regard, real-time ultrasound represents the most promising tool for tip navigation and location in neonates. The aim of this paper is (a) to review all the evidence available about ultrasound-based tip navigation and tip location of central catheters in the neonatal population (b) to propose a novel protocol for tip navigation and location (Neo-ECHOTIP) based on such evidence.
Approximately 54.8% of patients with breast abscesses discontinue breastfeeding due to the lack of adequate breastfeeding support.
We aimed to (1) examine the difference in milk volume produced by healthy breasts and breasts with abscesses; and (2) to explore the changes in milk volume before and after comprehensive management.
A prospective, consecutive series study was designed. Lactating patients (
= 50) with breast abscesses were selected from March 2017 to November 2018. The volume and frequency of milk expression of the affected and the unaffected breast were recorded every 24 hr before and after comprehensive management. The difference in the milk volume produced by healthy breasts (control) and breasts with abscesses, as well as the milk volume produced by each breast before and after comprehensive management, was determined.
There was a significant difference in the milk volume produced by healthy breasts and breasts with abscess before (
= 3.016;
= .004) and after (
= 4.336;
< .001) comprehensive management. The frequency of milk expression was significantly higher after comprehensive management than before it (
= -6.145;
< .001); the milk volume produced by each side significantly increased after comprehensive management (healthy breasts
= -4.789;
< .001; breasts with abscess
= 2.555;
= .014).
The total milk volume produced by breasts with abscesses can be less than that produced by healthy breasts. The management of abscesses by increasing the frequency of milk expression and degree of emptying can help mothers increase their milk volume.

For accurate circadian rhythms, daily fluctuations in light and temperature are considered one of the important time cues. In social insects, both abiotic and biotic factors (i.e., social interactions) play a significant role in activity-rest rhythm regulation. However, it is challenging to monitor individual activity-rest rhythms in a colony because of the large group size and small body size. Therefore, it is unclear whether individuals in a colony exhibit activity-rest rhythms and how social interactions regulate their activity-rest rhythms in the colony. This study developed an image-based tracking system using 2D barcodes for Diacamma cf. indicum from Japan (a monomorphic ant) and measured the locomotor activities of all colony members under laboratory colony conditions. We also investigated the effect of broods on activity-rest rhythms by removing all broods under colony conditions.
