© 2020 Cunha et al.BACKGROUND The association of blood pressure variation with poor outcomes in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is unknown. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the association of systolic blood pressure (SBP) variation and clinical outcomes in aSAH. METHODS We conducted a retrospective chart review of all aSAH patients treated at an academic institution between 2007 and 2016. Patient demographics, aSAH characteristics, and blood pressure observations for the first 24 h of admission in 4-h intervals were obtained. SBP variability metrics assessed were mean, standard deviation, maximum, minimum, peak, trough, coefficient of variation, and successive variation. The primary outcome was a composite of the modified Rankin scale as good (0-2) or poor (3-6) at last follow-up. click here Comparisons between outcome groups were performed. Logistic regression models for each significant SBP metric controlling for potential confounders were constructed. RESULTS The study population was 202 patients. The mean age was 57 yr; 66% were female. The median follow-up time was 18 mo; 57 (29%) patients had a poor outcome. Patients with poor outcomes had higher standard deviation (17.1 vs 14.7 mmHg, P = .01), peak (23.5 vs 20.0 mmHg, P = .02), trough (22.6 vs 19.2 mmHg, P less then .01), coefficient of variation (13.9 vs 11.8 mmHg, P less then .01), and lower minimum SBP (101.4 vs 108.4, P less then .01). The logistic regression showed that every 1-mmHg increase in the minimum SBP increased the odds of good outcomes (odds ratio = 1.03; 95% CI = 1.001-1.064; P = .04). Models including other SBP metrics were not significant. CONCLUSION Hypotension was found to be independently associated with poor outcomes in patients with aSAH. Few studies have examined the provision of individualized education. AIMS This study discussed the evaluations and characteristic needs of participants in an individualized mental health education programme while examining avenues for providing such education. METHODS Eighty-nine individualized education sessions were conducted for managers (87 males, 2 females) with a mean age of 42.6 years (SD = 5.1) at an assembly factory in Japan. Data from anonymous self-administered questionnaires completed before and after the education programme were analysed. RESULTS Overall, 95% of the managers (81/85) approved the individualized education format. The characteristic needs of participants with high motivation (45%, 38/85) were mental health consultations for managers (37%, 14/38, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.62-14.7, P less then 0.01) and subordinate-related concerns (18%, 7/38, 95% CI 1.11-22.8, P less then 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Individualized education may be a suitable method for conducting mental health consultations. It is recommended that the introduction of individualized education formats be implemented through voluntary consultations following group education. Individualized education may contribute to early intervention for work-related mental disorders. © The Author(s) 2020. SUMMARY ANSWER Peak serum E2 level during ovarian stimulation is not associated with neonatal birthweight in freeze-all cycles. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Supraphysiologic E2 levels during COS have been demonstrated to generate a suboptimal peri-implantation endometrial environment and thus lead to adverse neonatal outcomes in fresh embryo transfer cycles. Previous experimental studies also suggested a potential influence of superovulation on oocyte epigenetic programming, but whether it translates into altered phenotypes of fetal growth and development remains unclear in clinical practice. By segmenting the process of COS and embryo transfer, the freeze-all policy provides a novel model to investigate the sole impact of ovarian stimulation on oocytes after ruling out the effects of hyperestrogenic milieu on endometrium in fresh cycles. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS Our observations suggest that the hyperestrogenic milieu during COS does not seem to pose adverse effects on neonatal birthweight after frozen-thawed embryo transfer, which provides reassuring information for high ovarian responders in freeze-all cycles concerning their offspring's health. For permissions, please e-mail [email protected] neonicotinoid seed treatments are a common agricultural insect pest management strategy; however, effects on nontarget pests and omnivorous arthropods are understudied. We used a series of experiments to evaluate impacts of the neonicotinoid seed treatment thiamethoxam on densities of herbivorous twospotted spider mites (Tetranychus urticae Koch [Acari Tetranychidae]) and feeding behavior of western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis Pergande [Thysanoptera Thripidae]), an omnivore that feeds on spider mite eggs but is also a significant plant pest. Spider mite densities were higher on neonicotinoid-treated soybeans, but only when mites were not spatially confined. We then examined how availability of thiamethoxam-treated food items (i.e., eggs from spider mites reared on treated soybeans, soybean leaf discs, or a combination of the two), and previous exposure to thiamethoxam-treated soybean impacted thrips feeding. Regardless of the presence of leaf tissue, thrips consumed fewer spider mite eggs laid by females reared on treated soybeans, suggesting spider mite eggs can serve as poisoned prey.
