22, p = .037) and healthy controls (Spearman's ρ = .58, p  less then  .001). Participants with schizophrenia scored higher (more severe) and took longer for every item of the PHQ-9 when compared to controls (p  less then  .05 for each item). Item 9 response value and latency was slightly correlated for participants with schizophrenia (Spearman's ρ = .086, p = .035) but was not significant for controls (Spearman's ρ = .036, p = .37). CONCLUSIONS Meta-data revealed group differences between individuals with schizophrenia and healthy controls based on individual depression symptoms completed on a smartphone. Correlation between suicide specific question latency and severity for participants with schizophrenia but not for controls indicates the clinical potential and need for further research. © 2020 The Authors. In this study, we demonstrate a unique class of bottom-up approaches to assemble nanocrystals into patterns. Our approach for patterning nanocrystals focuses on the utilization and control of the chemical reaction of solvents surrounding nanocrystals. The photopolymerization of solvent molecules through a photomask creates time-dependent concentration gradients of the solvents. Dispersed nanocrystals such as silver nanowires (AgNWs) migrate and are gradually organized and integrated into the polymerizing films based on the concentration gradients. The AgNW-embedded film properties are determined by the organized AgNW structures and include light transmission and electrical conductivity. Overall, the demonstrated method is very simple, widely applicable to various nanocrystals and solvents, and can thus contribute to the development of a new class of nanocrystal patterning methods. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. This method will have a broad range of clinical and preclinical applications, as pathological changes in hepatocyte sizes are relevant for the accurate diagnosis and assessments of treatment response of liver diseases. METHODS Building on the concepts of temporal diffusion spectroscopy in MRI, a clinically feasible imaging protocol named IMPULSED (Imaging Microstructural Parameters Using Limited Spectrally Edited Diffusion) has been developed, which is able to report measurements of cell sizes noninvasively. This protocol acquires a selected set of diffusion imaging data and fits them to a model of water compartments in tissues to derive robust estimates of the cellular structures that restrict free diffusion. Here, we adapt and further develop this approach to measure hepatocyte sizes in vivo. We validated IMPULSED in livers of mice and rats and implemented it to image healthy human subjects using a clinical 3T MRI scanner. RESULTS The IMPULSED-derived mean hepatocyte sizes for rats and mice are about 15-20 µm and agree well with histological findings. Maps of mean hepatocyte size for humans can be achieved in less than 15 minutes, a clinically feasible scan time. CONCLUSION Our results suggest that this method has potential to overcome major limitations of liver biopsy and provide noninvasive mapping of hepatocyte sizes in clinical applications. © 2020 International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine.Flexible organic single crystals capable of plastic or elastic deformations have a variety of potential applications. Although the integration of plasticity and elasticity on a crystal is theoretically possible and it benefits the rich and complex deformations which are highly demanded for applications, the integration is hard to be realized practically. Here, we show that through utilizing different modes of external forces for influencing molecular packing of different crystallographic directions, plastic helical twisting and elastic bending can both be achieved for a crystal and they can even be realized simultaneously. Cysteine Protease inhibitor Detailed crystallographic analyses and contrast experiments disclose the mechanisms behind these two kinds of distinct deformations and their mutual compatibility. Based on the plastically twistable nature of the crystal, a new application field of flexible organic single crystals, namely polarization rotators, is successfully opened up. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Oleuropein was identified to have various medical properties. It was also found to inhibit the effects of both acute and chronic UVB-induced skin damage as well as accelerate wound healing activity. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of olive leaf extract containing cream on facial rejuvenation. METHODS This is a prospective pilot study with a total of 36 participants, who presented with photo aging skin. All participants applied the olive leaf extract containing cream (SUPERHEAL™ O-Live Cream, PhytoCeuticals, Inc., USA) to their whole face twice daily for 2 months. Primary outcomes measured in the study were the changes in the biophysical properties of the skin assessed with the following parameters melanin and erythema index, transepidermal water loss (TEWL), skin hydration, skin pH, sebum level, texture and wrinkles. RESULTS After 2 months, TEWL decreased significantly (p = 0.007) and maintained the results 1 month after discontinuation of the treatment (p = 0.007). Skin hydration also increased significantly after 2 months (p=0.004). Wrinkles improved significantly on all follow-ups (p less then 0.001, p=0.001, p=0.001 respectively). An image of the skin captured using Visioscan® showed improvement of the skin texture 2 months after treatment. Majority of the participants (64%) noted improvement in their skin texture. CONCLUSION Olive leaf extract containing cream provided benefits on skin rejuvenation in human skin. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
