Pegfilgrastim, a long-acting granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor used to prevent neutropenia, is not indicated for administration within 24 h of completion of chemotherapy. The safety of administering pegfilgrastim in gastrointestinal cancer chemotherapy regimens containing continuous intravenous infusion of 5-fluorouracil (5-FUCI) on the day of completion of 5-fluorouracil has not been adequately studied.

An institutional review board-approved retrospective analysis of patients with a gastrointestinal malignancy receiving pegfilgrastim on the final day of 5-FUCI was conducted. The primary end point was to determine the incidence of grade 3 and grade 4 neutropenia and febrile neutropenia when pegfilgrastim was administered on the final day of 5-FUCI. The secondary endpoint was to determine rate of dose reductions and treatment delays.

A total of 300 patients were reviewed from January 2010 to May 2017. The most common cancers were colorectal (25%) and pancreatic (60%), with 77% of patients having late stage disease. The risk of a patient developing grade 3 neutropenia was 0.010 (95% CI 0.002-0.029) and grade 4 neutropenia was 0.007 (95% CI 0.001-0.024). The risk of febrile neutropenia was 0.007 (95% CI 0.001-0.024). The risks of treatment delay and treatment reduction were 0.013 (95% CI 0.004-0.034) and 0.010 (95% CI 0.002-0.029), respectively.

In this cross-sectional study, 622 physicians, aged 32-55 years, participated from 50 private and public hospitals located in the seven cities of the Punjab province of Pakistan. Three standardized tools were used to assess suicidal ideation, perceived life satisfaction and work-family conflict of the participants. Results showed work-family conflict as positive whereas life satisfaction was shown to be a negative predictor of suicidal ideation among the physicians. Furthermore, findings suggested that, as a moderator, percieved life satisfaction holds a significant role in decreasing the levels of work-family conflict and suicidal ideation among the physicians. Therefore, it is recommendable to incoroporate a perceived life satisfaction enhancement program into the training of physicians so that suicidal ideation may be prevented and treated effectively.The COVID-19 pandemic has generated a rise in psychological distress worldwide. Although fear appears to be a major contributing factor, there has been no systematic research to determine which specific facets of fear predict psychopathology during the coronavirus crisis. The present study is the first to examine which fear factors uniquely predict clinical levels of depressive symptoms and generalized anxiety. Data were collected from 256 adults in the United States recruited from Amazon's Mechanical Turk (MTurk) during the coronavirus pandemic. The results from logistic regression analyses demonstrated that neuroticism, coronaphobia, and hypochondriasis were fear factors that predicted pandemic-related psychopathology in adults. Studies have shown that synchronized motion between people positively affects a range of emotional and social functions. The mirror-game is a synchrony-based paradigm, common to theater, performance arts, and therapy, which includes dyadic synchronized motion, playfulness, and spontaneity. The goal of the current study is to examine the effects of the mirror-game on subjective and cognitive indices in late life.

Thirty-four older adults (aged 71-98) participated in a within-group study design. RG7388 Participants conducted two sessions of 9-minute movement activities the mirror-game and the control condition - a physical exercise class. Several measures were taken before and after experimental sessions to assess socio-emotional and attentional functions.

The mirror-game enhanced performance on the attention sub-scale and led to faster detections of spoken words in noise. Further, it enhanced perceived partner responsiveness and led to an increase in positive reported experience.

Our preliminary findings suggest that the mirror-game, rather than the exercise class, may have an immediate impact on mood and some attentional functions.
